Azurewolf~ Heh, now that you mention it, yeah. The two in this thread were actually just really quick pictures. The first one was drawn to give to a friend, the second was sketched because I really wanted to do something cool with Totoro. They both just turned out as monochrome desktops, I guess. The easiest way to look at my desktops would be just to see the ones that I sent to Adam. I mostly just take one or two colors and work with it (them). Huh. [Great, now I feel all challenged to do a colorful wallpaper, heh.] (I spelled the word "it" wrong on the last one. >_

5. The first thing I thought of when I saw your avatar was: "Yay! Yellow!" I like it. It's different. *joy* and there's nothing really wrong with it. Unless you hate yellow. The banner, I can see what you mean by face cutting off...suddenly, or whatever you phrased it. Still, looks good.
6.
Originally posted by James And Sara...you quoted Mnemolth. It's a funny quote, because when he was a newbie, I overestimated him. Shame, that. :smirk:
*laughs and claps hands* You got it! yay! Heh. Still, I think it's an interesting viewpoint. And I quite like it. And...yeah. *looks from James to Rai and back* ...Yeah.
7. I would really like to work for Pixar or Dreamworks animation studios. I think that would be the coolest job ever. :whoops: Granted, I say that knowing nothing about the subject....heheh. I don't know what direction I'll be going after high school. I'd like to take some etymology-related* courses; that would be fantastic. Latin and whatnot. *grins happily* I would also like to take classes relating to the afore-mentioned "dream job," but if I took all artsy classes, I would probably die from sheer joy--or artists' block. ^_~ So, yes. Arts and computers, all 'round. (And words, hmm.) I don't know where I'll be going to college, either. UCLA is a college. -Shy Heh. :toothy: *Etymology is the study of words and their origins.
8. Shy and I have conversations about this every once in a while. o0; There are some pretty long-standing members here that will always be "newbies" to us--regardless of post count or time spent here. Newbie is not a post count, it is a state of mind. I like the newbie title--it's a bit of a challenge to carve a place out for yourself somewhere where you are regarded as a "newbie." Sure, the word has some negative connotations, but honestly-- The people who respect me for my post count are people I don't care to have the respect of. And I can say that as a supermod here with 4400 posts, and I can say it as a newbie at another forum with less than 50 posts. If you're interested, here's one member's stance on the subject: "I wanna go back to being a Newbie for a very simple and selfish reason. People tend to think of Newbies as ignorant little kids. And there are few moments more satisfying than knowing you are being underestimated. :D" I like that quote. :toothy:
9. I will be starting my last year of high school this fall. ^_~ Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing has yet to be determined. It will involve a lot of college-y preperation-y stuff, though. Wonderful.
10. Please do not clutter the Lounge with year-old topics. -Sara
11. I personally enjoy the titles. I think they're...well...fun. :whoops:
12.
Originally posted by Justin Personally, I had to go through th 'newbie' title here...three times, lol. It's kind of a rite-of-passage, I say. -Justin
Just twice for me, heh. ^_~ But on v1, there were several newbie titles... 'Newbie', 'fast newbie,' 'cool newbie'...I think those were all titles under 100 posts, as well...although I can't be sure. ^_~ Personally, I think Cool Newbie is an awesome title. I'd like to see it brought back.
13. Nope. You're young, and any dating relationship you enter at this period of your life has approximately no chance of lasting. Keep the friendship; it'll be more important to you in the long run. ^_~
14. Ergh. I have noticed several people with multiple images in their signatures, but they remove them when asked. I'm a tad behind, unfortunately. ^_~ There are a couple people I haven't gotten around to yet. As for the smileys...I believe the "policy" on that is you can use as many of OB's smiley's as you'd like. If you have to image-link them, though, they count as an image.
15. I have multiple windows open all the time, and I've never had a problem. o0If for some reason you do get logged out, it would show it in the more recently-opened window...you woudn't be logged and and out at the same time, though. Refreshing the other window or clicking a link would show you as logged out there as well.

I'm New.

Welcome to OB. ^_~ Our rules page is rather out-of date, don't worry about it. Reading though it will give you a good idea of what kind of posts are allowed--the general rule is quality over quantity. If your signature image is too big, the software should block it--anyway, the limit is 100 pixels tall by 500 pixels wide. See you on the boards. ^_^ -Sara

I sometimes experience a what I suppose qualifies as deja vu. Several times on trips/vacations, I've been places it's impossible for me to have been before, and they'll seem frighteningly familiar. Like I've been there in a dream, or when I was very young. It's an interesting feeling. Very surreal.
19. Deedlit: While the rhyming sort of threw me off at first (AAA..B?), I ended up really liking this one. Some of the lines seemed to have too many syllables, but the rhythm as a whole was pretty good, and easy to get into. It seemed as though it were meant to be read out loud, although a few lines did sound a little...forced. In any case, I did like it. It builds up to this potentially horrific climax---And the end of the world is...averted, heh. Zidargh: This was different, heh. The whole theme of time was something I didn't expect, but it worked well. The whole structure was different from that of the other two (Deedlit and Juu). It was very impersonal, detailing things from a rather...machine...perspective, if that makes sense. Juu: Yes, it did read as rushed. Good job for putting one up, though. The last bit seemed to close it well...I don't know if it was cliched or not, but I liked it. The rest of it, though, seemed kind of forced--again, rushed. RavensTorture: I liked this one. The structure--or lack thereof?--anyway, was easy to read, and the message/story was good as well. The "people" side of the apocalypse. You could almost write a thesis on that. Suicide rates increase, hopelessness, fear; then people start to actually be...decent people...and everything comes to an end, anyway. Asphy: I liked Crazy Bruce. I hate critiquing your writing, everything seems like something I would have written. You really need to stop that. Ajeh: Different. Muchly so. The verses, interspersed with little "subs" of what was going on was a very neat effect. The concept was great, too--I really liked it. Rather freaky, but I guess the theme "apocalypse" sort of entails that. B Baka: Written pretty well..I can't find any glaring faults. :whoops: I just especially liked the line, "but bless us if we saw." Again, I can't really find anything wrong with it, heh. Nice job. Of the three contestants "on trial," I think Juu's was the weakest entry. Again, props to her for submitting something, even--especially--if it was last-minute. ^_~
20. I'm sorry, but that's disgusting. There are members here who don't wish to read that sort of thing. If anyone is interested in any more of his...ah...jokes...I suggest you PM Jesus Chicken. Thank you.
21. If I could change one thing about my life right now, I would give myself some sense of purpose or direction. Everyone keeps asking me what I'm going to do when I get out of high school, and I honestly have no idea. It would be nice to have that settled...or at least know which way I'm going.
22. If you have the other books available, I'd read them first. Everything is so much cooler if you know the background. *hugs Fred plushie* Meh favowitte.

Totoro Banner

The text is kinda hard to read, and Totoro's cut out not-so-great....but I love that movie, so you get a smiley sticker just the same. ^_^;; Try cutting the picture out a little cleaner, maybe, and use a cleaner, simpler font?
25. Yeah, the best thing you can do in this sitution is to delete your last post and copy what it said into a new post. It works okay. Otherwise, we'd have posts edited for spelling errors or what-have-you bumped up to the top of the page all the time.
