Hello; welcome to OtakuBoards. We don't really allow "Hi, I'm new!" threads anymore, but if you need help with anything feel feel to PM myself or one of the other moderators. Enjoy your stay. ^_~

It's not bad for a sketch. Gets across the expression of the character pretty well. If you're going to do a lot of drawing, though, steer clear of lined/graph paper. (Lord knows most of my sketches are on graph paper, too, but it does take away from the picture.)

When I was eight or nine, my family went on a road trip--sort of looped from Wisconsin down though the midwest, over through Texeas to Arizona, and back up and around. That was a long trip--it lasted two weeks, and about every second or third day was spend driving. We do car trips sometimes. None have been quite as ambitious as that one, heh. Usually just a day and/or night of driving--up to St Paul/Minneapolis, down to St. Louis, or anywhere in between. I read a lot--it's one of the few times I can grab a few old books and read, mostly undisturbed, for several hours. On vacation this year, I spent most of the bus-time writing a...erhm...letter...to someone. (The letter ended up being rather long..*cough*) Drawing doesn't work so well, because it's more important to have a flat surface and lack of jarring action when you're drawing than when you're writing. Alternately, I daydream. I have complex worlds, full of stories, in my mind, and they're always good for a visit. ^_~

Erhm, I got the idea that it was a gift to you, and you shouldn't give it to...er...anyone else?

It's being discussed maturely, and while theOtaku is, yes, focused on Anime, there are different sections of the OtakuBoards. The Lounge is available so members can have discussions not directly pertaining to anime, gaming, etc. I also think the thread title is rather plain, and that if the subject bothers you, you needn't have clicked and entered. ^_~ That being said, I'm simply going to defer to James or Charles on this one. I loved Goosebumbs when I was little. I would check out ten or twelve at a time from the library, and sit upstairs in a closet and read them. Great fun. ^_~ I especially loved the sequels; it was always so fun to see the characters again. My favorite books were the Monster Blood ones. I read every one he had out, until I got out of that phase, heh. Then I read Fear Street for a long time. The only books of his that ever really scared me, though, were the 99 Fear Street chronicles. I think there were three books, and they freaked me out pretty badly.

Many welcomes to OtakuBoards. That was really neat. I loved it. "Five minutes and an argument with fate." Very spiffy. I'd like to read more of your stuff.
Originally posted by James I actually would like to put a system in place where your rank is "voted on" by staff. So, you're given points for post quality. Each time a Moderator sees a high quality post, they can give you a certain number of points, which then increases your status.
This bit just made me think of Harry Potter and House points, heh... Taking a slightly different view of things, as far as points and titles and post counts go, whatever system we end up using we are going to have to be able to explain every time a new member asks... A rather daunting task. Alternately, we could just point them to a single posted explanation, but where's the fun in that? Anyway.

*cough* Actually, the "mod rod" smiley was produced by me. And feel free to use it. ^_~

Okay, this is just getting ridiculous. If you want to talk to yourself, do it somewhere else.

Point One: I've only read the first volume, but I love the art style. Point Two: This forum's discription includes manga, so this thread is in the right place. Point Three: Yes, please shorten your signature. The general rule we ask members to abide by is ten to twelve lines. Thanks. ^_~

I believe AW is asking if s/he (?) can use OB's smiley for Incredimail, not the other way around. I'm not sure, but I believe all of our smileys have come from another site, somewhere along the line. So I don't see what the problem would be...smileys are generally considered public domain.

Writing Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix
Sara replied to Queen Asuka's topic in Creative Works
Well, I read the book today. I really shouldn't read long books in one sitting, that always gets me depressed... This post is general stuff about characters, only major spoilers are in the first paragraph there.
I felt so bad for Sirius throughout the book. Staying all the time at Grimauld (no idea how to spell this one) place, when the thing he wanted most was to be out there doing something. That would have been absolute torture for him--and worse, to have Severus ribbing him all the time. I honestly think it was an act of mercy for him to be killed. He was one of my favorite characters, as well... But I couldn't see Rowling putting him through another year of torture like that. I knew he was going to die. Hated it, of course... But like Remus said, that's how he would have wanted to go. And Severus--somehow, after reading the fourth book, I expected him not to be so terrible. I was pretty surprised--wow, he really did hate the Fabulous Four, didn't he? I was as surprised as Harry to read all that about James and Sirius. I can assure you that I never acted like that when I was fifteen. *laughs* But I think it's very interesting, reading about him--we're not just programmed to hate him, we get little tidbits about his life, as well. Speaking of learning more about secondary characters--how about Neville? I have to admit I was surprised when we first learned about his parents. I hadn't expected him to be much more than a sort of comic relief. But after we heard about them, I thought we'd get to see more about Neville, and we really did. He's hardly the two-dimensional first year who couldn't keep track of his toad. What does everyone think about Luna, anyway?
-

Doing well on something makes me smile. I got next-to-perfect scores on my ACT this year, and couldn't stop grinning all day. Sad, but true.

All I can suggest is double-checking your user CP--options, and making sure "Use 'Email Notification' by default" and "Send you an email when you receive a Private Message" are both clicked as no. That should work, although as this is your second thread on the subject, I don't suppose it worked last time someone told you. Please don't make redundant threads. ^_~ If you continue to have a problem with something, PM one of the moderators, and I'm sure they will do their best to help you.

It'd be hard to beat and kill someone effectively over the internet... *waves to Lalaith* -
Glad you're okay, Raiha. You're quite the resilient character. ^_~ The only surgery I've had--I think--was a bunch of weird stuff with my mouth. I had four teeth where I should've only had two. o0. I guess I'm a relatively healthy person. Unfortunately, when I am sick, it seems to take forever for me to recover.

My only complaint, I guess, is the image itself. It looks...fuzzy. It sort of throws off the neatness of the background. I'm assuming the original image was fuzzy and that wasn't an effect or something...? If you've got a bunch of spare time, you could probably recolor it in photoshop or something. However, that's getting rather involved.

Err, yes. Kevin. I've had a run-in or two with him myself, I suppose many people here have. What really frustrates me is when people refue to admit they're wrong, even in the face of reason. Arrogance can be tolerable; willful ignorance is not.

There's already a thread on this topic. Please keep all discussion there.
