A quiet suburb in New York City

People buzzed around the suburb, going about their lives as they would normally do. They ate, slept, drank, talked, waved goodbye to their children, embraced each other, and did things that normal, everyday people did all the time.

Little did they know what was streaking towards them at six hundred miles an hour above them. Four massive, robotic killing machines, speeding towards the ground at tremendous speeds.

The first sign of these silent, deadly machines was a beam of light which blasted down, incinerating four people without a single thought. Lasers blasted from the thing's hands, torching buildings and disintegrating people, men, women and children alike.

John Thompson fell to the ground, scrabbling among the debris for a way out. For he knew why these machines were here, unlike many of the other people.

They were hunting and destroying mutants like himself.

A shadow loomed over him, and he looked up, just in time to see a massive robotic foot slam down on him.

"All Mutant Activity Neutralised," buzzed one of the robots.

------

1407 Graymalkin Lane, Westchester County, New York

A man in a wheelchair stared intently at the television as a news report came on.

"Good evening, I'm Gregory Eschelman and you're watching the Channel Nine News Update. Tonight's top story: the trial run of the Sentinels is hailed as a success as a mutant nest in downtown New york is uncovered and neutralised with no civilian casualties.

Were these the mutant terrorists behind the recent anti-human bombings in New York and Washington? Police say the evidence is undeniable, but human rights campaigners Amnesty International have condemned the action as "Inhuman and unconstitutional," provoking a stern White House response."

The image changed to that of a young White House spokeswoman speaking at a press conference.

"How anyone can question the Sentinel initiative after the Washington Annihilation is astonishing. The President wishes to reaffirm his support for this project, and offers his most sincere congratulations to the federal employees behind it."

Gregory Eschelman came back on.

"The President's press secretary was, of course, referring to the Brotherhood Of Mutants' devastating bomb-blast on Capitol Hill only seven days ago, and the subesquent broadcast from Magneto, Master of Magnetism, the Death Cult's Self-Appointed Leader."

The image changed again to show a man sitting in a throne, wearing a black and red helmet, and a long black cloak.

"Man is a parasite upon our resources. He eats our food, breathes our air and occupies land which evolution intended homo superior to inherit. Naturally, our attacks upon your power bases will continue until you deliver this world to its rightful owners.

But your replacements grow impatient."

"Former NASA engineer Bolivar Trask..." The man turned the television off, and turned to look out of the window, stroking his small ginger cat.

"Ah, Mystique, when will they all learn?" he sighed.

Welcome to X-Men: New Beginnings. This is not your normal X-Men RP, where you create an entirely new X-Men character, but you might as well be.

Instead, this is bringing X-Men into the new Century, modernising it, and drastically changing some of the characters' backstories.

In fact, you can completely warp the characters' backstories to the point where they are barely recognisable. But I will ask, if there are any familial relationships mentioned in the original comics, please keep these. For instance, Havok and Cyclops must still be brothers.

There are a few characters I will definitely need, but only people I feel are extremely competent writers will be allowed to apply for these spots. They are as follows:

1. Charles Xavier/Professor X
2. Eric Magnus Lensherr/Magneto
3. James Howlett/Logan/Wolverine

PM me if you want to play any of these characters, but if you do, you will have to take a certain amount of direction from me.

Here is the sign-up sheet:

Name:
Codename:
Gender:
Age:
Appearance: a picture or description would be good here, both would be perfect. The standard X-Men uniform in this RP is still the black-and-gold of the original, but with a few tweaks, so leave this out for the moment
Alliance: there are two choices - X-Men or Brotherhood of Mutants. Remember, as you are changing the histories, you can have a character that was originally in the X-Men in the Brotherhood, and vice versa
Biography: now this is key. This is where you can make the major tweaks to your characters to improve them however much you want, to make them deeper, more involved characters, or merely to change their histories slightly. You can even take a fairly minor character from the comics and make them into a pivotal character. It's up to you. Do this including key events like when they discovered their powers, but do not write about being accepted into Xavier's Academy or the Brotherhood...this will be happening within the story
Powers: keep your character's original powers, although you can tweak them slightly, but try not to tone them up too much

Certain characters are also off-limits, as they are too damn powerful. These are:

1. Nate Grey/X-Man
2. Nate Summers/Cable
3. En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse
4. Nathaniel Essex/Sinister
5. Alex Summers/Havok (for the single reason that I will be playing him)
6. Scott Summers/Cyclops (reserved for Mage17)

Enjoy creating, there is an Underground thread about to be opened for any questions, or PM me to ask to play key characters.

Name: Kurt Wagner
Codename: Nightcrawler
Gender:Male
Age:19

Appearance: Standing about 5'6", with indigo shaded fur that fades to white as it reaches his hands, feet, and the tip of his tail, Kurt's shaggy, moon colored hair and eyes lend an angelic air to his otherwise demonic appearence. He rarely smiles, keeping his fangs hidden, but there is little to be done to hide his pointed ears or prehensile tail. Or the fact that he has only three fingers on each hand, jointed four times instead of the normal two... Whatever he is wearing, he usually wears a long, hooded white monk's robe over it, doing his best to hide as many of his features as he can.

Alliance: Brotherhood of Mutants

Biography:

One cold Russian winter the child of a demon was found at the steps of St. Peter's Cathedral.

The ancient Friar was up in the night, awakened by the dream of a cat screaming at the church doors... Mistaking the scratching he heard for the cause of his dream, he took up his walking stick to go and clout (not the animal itself), but whatever was driving the poor thing to such a fuss.

He found a gangly creature... resembling a child... huddled in the shadow of one of the great stone gargoyles standing guard over the entryway. Wrapped in rags folded and stuffed with straw, and half frozen still, the boy looked up at him with wide, luminescent eyes and the old Friar knew he was damned. He knew the monster could be no human child; but when it clung to his robes, its eyes filled with tears, beging him for sanctuary, he could not turn it away.

Kurt spent most of his childhood hiding in the unused bell tower, sneaking down into the rafters of the main hall to spy on the services when they were held. He was never taught to read, nor to write, but he commited to memory everything he heard, and would spend hours interrogating Friar Wagner, who suffered under the boy's endless barrage of questions believing (with growing humor and affection for the little monster) that this was God's way of testing his faith. But as the years went on, there was really no way to avoid the issue of what Kurt was... And to Friar Wagner's dismay, Kurt began to grow dispondent, drawing the conclusion that the only explanation for his appearance was that he was, in fact, a demon cursed by God... The smell of sulpher when he found himself suddenly somplace he had been thinking of a moment before didn't help matters any either.

Years passed, and as rumors of the ghost haunting St. Peters bell tower circulated, the church slowly began to lose it's patronage. Eventually, the place was abandoned, only Friar Wagner staying on as caretaker. Some marvelled at his faith in the Lord's pretection, others whispered that it was he who had let the evil in...

When he died, there was nobody but the ghost to bury him. Kurt dug a grave at the northeast corner of the garden, instead of burying him in the church cemetary, which required stepping outside the Monastary's walls and out into the open. The Cathedral's great doors were closed, barred and nailed shut against the world outside; and for three years, Kurt lived there in solitude, teaching himself to read, devouring every text in the library in hopes of finding some text that would allow him to believe he was not the demon he appeared to be...

Powers: Teleportation. And as it turns out, Kurt's biochemistry, often affected by how a person feels both physically and emotionally, causes him to change color slightly. This makes both lying and keeping secrets rather diffcult for him, but, on the other hand, if he ever figures out how to control it, it would give him the ability to hide quite well... Name: Jonathon ?Jono? Evan Starsmore.

Codename: Chamber.

Gender: Male

Age: 18.

Appearance: Click here.

Alliance: The X-Men.

Biography: Jonathon is native of England, being born in London. His parents were the everyday working Joes that kept the country moving so he neither had a poor life or a rich life but he and his parents were still comfortable in there home. As he grew older, some time in his fifth year, his parents and teachers noted that while he rarely seemed to eat he was always full of energy and ready to take on any task that was given to him but they all put this down to the usual hyperactive nature of young children. Among his peers Jonathon was generally a well liked person and, for lack of a better word, popular and he got on well with everyone but a few who were jealous of him and his talents.

As he grew older his energetic attitude never died down and he was always constantly occupied with his friends, latest hobby or new project that his was working on. Something that mystified his parents was that he had never, in all his years, been ill and had never complained of anything that would have hampered his progress and energetic attitude. As all teenagers do Jonathon eventually found that his hormones got the better of him and he wound up with a girlfriend by the name of Gail. Sadly his idyllic life would soon come crashing around him as his mutant powers manifested themselves. The events that triggered the activation of his powers are unknown to everyone but himself and he doesn?t talk about them to anyone. What is know is that the process destroyed a large part of his chest as well as obliterating his lower jaw, the initial blast also crippled his then-girlfriend Gail.

With his life seemingly over Jonathan fled his family and friends and took up living in London has a homeless person. Shockingly his mutant powers now seemed to be all he needed to survive as the first blast of psionic energy and destroyed his heart, lungs and other organs as well as his voice box. The swimming pool of energy that now occupied his chest is all he needed to survive, he didn?t even need to breath anymore. After a few months on the streets Jonathon heard that there were others like him around the world and the name they were being given was ?mutants? thought by some to be the next evolution of humanity, he had even heard that a prominent mutant known as Magneto had taken to referring to their kind as ?Homo Superior?.

Still living in the dense city of London Jonathon is actively searching for other mutants like himself in the hopes that he is not alone.

Personality: Prior to his powers emergence Jonathon was the centre of his peer groups at school with a lot of people looking up too him. This was due to his natural charisma and the leadership like qualities he possessed. After his mutant powers obliterated much of his torso and lower face his personality has become markedly different. During his years on the streets of London he become much more closed in and never liked to socialise with people as he feared he would injure them with his powers like he did too Gail. His inability to speak also compounded the problems because he felt that if he spoke to people in their minds he would further alienate himself from them.

Jonathon is currently brooding, sullen and quiet as well as not being much of a ?people person? but it will take the right group of people to return him to his former self.

Powers: When Chambers powers first manifested themselves it was as a furnace of psionic energy that burst through his chest and lower mouth utterly destroying Chambers ability to speak as well as several of his major organs. Due to this it is theorised that Chamber does not conform to other humans in terms of his physical make-up, it is possible that his body is merely an empty shell that holds a power being of psionic energy and the hole in his chest is just the start of a process that will forever leave him as a being of psionic energy. In terms of using his powers the primary manifestation of his abilities is his ability to fire powerful blasts of psychokinetic force from the furnace in his chest. Due to his lacking a mouth Chamber can only communicate with others via short-range telepathy, he also no longer needs to eat, drink or even breath because it appears the psionic energy is the only thing that is required to sustain him.

It has been suggested that Chamber is potentially one of the most powerful mutants to walk the earth possibly he is an Omega-Level Mutant, but his current emotional issues have somewhat prevented him from significantly exploring this potential.

Name: Monet Yvette Clarisse Maria Therese St. Croix

Codename: M

Gender: Female

Age: 18

Appearance:

Alliance: Brotherhood of Mutants.

Biography: Though her powers are great, Monet wasn't always so superhuman - after the manifestation of her brother's and her own powers, her brother took the name Emplate and kidnapped her. Her brother Marius's power is the ability to feed off of a mutant's lifeforce, and that's exactly what he did to her, that is, until her own powers manifested and she beat the living Hell out of her older brother.

It was, at the very least, the most harrowing event I've ever experienced, and the only way to escape was to become like him - a freak. All my life I was the golden child, my father's favorite and the teacher's pet...And with him, I'm just his next meal. I know if I don't get out of here soon, I'm going to die. But I can't just force my powers to surface!

She stifles a sob as a wave of despair washes over her frail body, but this time, her emotions prove too much and she quietly cries to the unsympathetic walls. "It's not fair!" She screams, sitting up and hitting the wall. To her supreme surprise, when she removes her fist from the wall, there is a rather large dent. The next tear that falls from her eye is one of joy. "I'm free?...I'm free!" She whispers, now rabidly possessive of her new powers and escape route. Carefully she punches the wall again, and more of the cement chips away.

Two years later and stronger than any person she'd ever met, Monet searches the world for a safe haven. Not knowing where she was when she first escaped was frightening at first, but she soon felt only peace when she saw the sunrise for the first time in several months. After several weeks of wandering, she theorized why it had taken so long for her powers to manifest was her brother had not been feeding on her life force, as she thought, but on her mutant power instead. With this revelation, she finds a village full of kind people, and tough they don't understand each other, she stayed with them until it felt like time to move on.

Powers: Telepathic abilities, telescopic and night vision, flight, superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, endurance, and a healing factor. (Yes, those really are her powers...)

Okay, just because this site took me forever to find, I'm gonna put it in here so nobody else has to look for it. It's a list of some of the mutants that have lost/kept their powers after M-Day. Heehee...M-Day. Makes it sound like Monet did it. Name: Alexander Summers

Codename: Havok

Gender: Male

Age: 20

Appearance: as attached, but with a different uniform, not including the headpiece

Alliance: X-Men

Biography: Separated from his brother at birth in the car bombing that killed their parents, Alex was found and raised by a devout Catholic couple. He was taught how to be a good, kind person, respectful and polite to others.

But when he turned fifteen, he discovered that he was, in fact, adopted, and his parents had been killed just a few days after he had been born. He also found out that he had an older brother, Scott Summers. This moment of trauma was also the moment that his mutant powers revealed themselves, and, without meaning to, a blast of plasma energy from his body destroyed his house and killed his foster parents.

After this, he became an outcast, as a mutant in this tough world, and decided to search for his brother, living on the streets, trying to do anything to make a dollar. His entire outlook on life changed, from being a cheery, positive person, to being a dark, brooding character.

But then, he was taken into the Xavier School for the Gifted, which he assumed was an upper-class private school, but it was in fact a school for mutants such as himself. Since then, he has regained his cheery outlook on life, to a certain extent, and is devoted to helping Professor Xavier to save any mutants possible, taking a role as the original X-Man, fighting alongside Professor X. He also uses the school as protection against the Sentinels, and yet he has yet to find his brother.

Powers: Havok has the amazing ability to absorb ambient cosmic energies, process them and release them from his body as waves of superheated plasma in the form of a blast, with a tell-tale concentric cirlce pattern. This will usually emanate from his body in all directions unless he can focus it along the length of his arms. This results in control over an extremely powerful destructive force.

As a side-effect of his powers, he is also immune to the effects of radiation and heat. However, he is not always able to fully control his mutant ability, often making him a liability to those around him. The act of concentration involved in releasing his energy in anything other than an omnidirectional wave for an extended period of time is physically exhausting for Havok, and afterwards he will need to rest and recharge for a maximum of 16 and a half hours. His abilities, once properly honed, could make him one of the world's most powerful mutants.

Name: Pherrea Worthington

Codename: Seraphim

Gender: Female

Age: 26

Appearance: See attachment. Nix the halo. Usually wears metallic colored clothing, although sometimes makes exceptions and wears armor. Skin is lightish, but hair is definitely a reddish brunette color. Golden brown eyes, slender build, and roughly 5'7"

Alliance: Brotherhood of Mutants; although slightly ambivalent towards them and everything else.

Biography: Beautiful beyond reason, yet mealoncholy and distant, Pherrea has some reason for her attitude. Married into the Worthington family by an arrangement, Pherrea lived with her husband, Warren's brother, for some time. After he died in a car accident, she became completely withdrawn from reality, living alone in the house she shared with her husband, brooding for days on end, and always hiding her wings beneath clothing, never using them where anyone could see. Eventually she snapped herself out of the gloom and learned how to fight from a close friend who didn't judge her based on appearance.

Eventually she realized that her wings and the rest of her body, had made her more bird-like than human, and that her capacity to fly was greater than she had ever imagined. This newfound freedom was amazingly liberating for Pherrea, but it didn't save her from much else. This included extortion, lies, and whispers poured into her ear from an emissary. The man was from the Brotherhood of Mutants, and before you judge her, just remember that Pherrea was very young when she lost her husband, and only 21 when she was approached by this man. 5 years into the future, into the present, Pherrea is a fearsome warrior, able to lift heavy weights, fly for 12 hours without rest, and soar with the best of them. She has no particular grudge against humans, but she likes to fight, and inflicting pain on people is a way of dealing with her own loss.

I'm not saying this is healthy for her, but it's something she does. With the right sort of teammates, she can evolve into either an extrodinary fighter with a sound mind, or a derranged lunatic, striking out indiscriminately, but with intense strength.

Powers: 20 foot wingspan, with feathers made of a metallic substance, similar to what covers Colossus. The ability to fly great distances without tiring, strength above that of most humans, and the ability to soar as far up as the highest flying birds.

I'll finish this all when I have the time, Blayze.

EDIT: Finito!

Name: Katherine "Kitty" Pryde

Codename: Shadowcat

Gender: Female

Age: 19 (not sure if you wanted the ages the same)

Appearance:

Alliance: X-Men

Biography: Katherine Pryde was from an average family, lived in an average house, and lived the average life. Yet, she is by no means average herself.

First is her discontent with herself. She had never really liked herself, and feals as if something was missing. She had always felt different from other kids, and therefore really has no close friends. Sure, there are the kids who look up to her, but she doesn't consider them friends. To her, they are just another hinderance in her quest for self-acceptence.

Second is her inteligence. She has one of the highest IQ's in the world. In fact, she graduated from grade twelve when she was fourteen. She has a great understanding of computers, I.T., Math, and is a wonderful writer. She had two novels published by the age of twelve, and tutored people quite a few years older than herself. But, despite her high intelligence, she has horrible social skills and finds it hard to relate to people.

Thirdly is that she is a mutant. She had heard of people like her before, but had been raized to fear and even despise them. Imagine what she and her family went through when her dormant powers where awakened.

The day Kitty realized she was a mutant was actually on her sixteenth birthday. Her and her boyfriend, a twenty-something college professor that her parents detested, were having a quite evening at his house. They had just sat down for supper when someone entered the house, shooting at the roof and yelling words that where lost to Kitty's ears. As the intruder forced them to the ground, a stray bullet hit her boyfriend in the back of the neck, killing him instantly. Kitty rushed the intruder, madness overcoming her. How dare he kill the only person who ever understood me? she thought. The murderer shot at Kitty, but to no avail...the bullets seemed to pass right through her. She lunged at him, but phased through him, and the floor. She passed out, shocked by the experience.

When Kitty woke, there where sirens and flashing lights everywhere.

The shock was still great, and Kitty fell into insanity.

From that day forth, she was kept in an Insane Asylim, but after a few years, she started to regain her sanity. Finally, one day she was released. Now, she searches for the murderer of her late boyfriend...until she hears word of one named "Professor X."

Powers: ~Corporal Intangibility - Shadowcat possesses the ability to pass through solid matter by passing her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which she is moving. In this way she and the object through which she is passing can temporarily merge without interacting, and each is unharmed when Shadowcat has finished passing through the object. This process is called "phasing." When Shadowcat is phasing, she is, for all intents ad purposes, intangible. Hence, when attacked, she can shift into a "phasing" state (even if she is not at the time passing through an object) so as to allow oncoming projectiles or energy blasts to pass through her harmlessly. While phasing Shadowcat is still vulnerable to psionic or mystical attack, however.

Shadowcat passes through objects at the same rate of speed at which she is moving before she "enters" it. Since she is unable to breathe while "inside" an object, she can only continuously phase through solid objects (as when she travels underground) as long as she can hold her breath.

Shadowcat can phase through any material object, even living people. When she phases through an object with an electrical system, the process disrupts the system's workings. She has trained herself to go automatically, by reflex, into a phasing state at any indication of danger, such as a loud noise like a gunshot, in order to protect herself.

Using her phasing ability, Shadowcat can walk on air. In fact, she can use her ability to walk on the air from the ground to the upper stories of a building as if she were climbing a staircase.

From the first use of her phasing power, Shadowcat has been able to phase her clothing along with herself. Through practice she has learned to phase other objects along with herself without harm to them, and can now phase a living person as big as her teammate Colossus along with herself. She can also enable someone as big as Colossus to "walk on air" along with her. However, she must maintain physical contact with the person or object she phases along herself for the effect to work with this other person or object.

Name: Janet Pym
Codename: Wasp
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Appearance:

Wasp, larger image, shes on the right
She usually wears tight fitting clothes to complement her lean figure, She has Dark Brown eyes and black hair stands 5'7".
Alliance: X-men (can change it)
Biography: [may edit] Janet was spoiled from a very young age being the daughter of a very wealthy scientist named Vernon van Dyne. In which case she got everything she wanted, this lead her to be self centered and shallow. Her father was killed in a lab experiment that went horribly wrong, the stress of coping with her father?s death brought about her mutation. Janet inherited her fathers vast amounts of money but his dying brought her down a few notches in character.

Janet Pym attended schooling with Betty Ross; at the end of her education she worked hard enough to acquire two PH.D?s. She entered into a relation ship that had some violent consequences. Her boyfriend constantly beat her, despite this fact wasp still stayed in the relationship. Eventually she married; her husband didn?t show any more violent nature until a few years later in which case he beat Janet almost senseless. Un-till that time no one knew that she was a mutant, she never told anyone of what she could do.

To escape her abusive husband wasp stung him, shrank her self and escaped the apartment via one of the open windows. Unfortunately for her, her clothes didn?t shrink with her and she was forced to embarrassingly steal clothes from someone?s washing line.

After that incident Janet left the country choosing London, England a place to make her self a new life away from abusive husbands and prying eyes. She is now incredibly carefull when it comes to men from her bad experiences.

Powers: Wasp has the abilities to be able to shrink herself quite small, at the most one to two inches. At will she can sprout two insectoid-wasp like wings from between her shoulder blades, these enable her to fly. Wasp however does not sting like a conventional insect as her name would entail. She secretes a biochemical compound from her finger tips. When it comes into contact with the enemy it causes large amounts of pain (a burning sensation) and blistering of the skin (as a conventional sting would). She has been experimenting with a developing power that enables her to grow in size but hasn?t been able to gain any proper control over it. If she shrinks while in civilian clothing she becomes naked as it will not shrink with her.
= = = = = =
Note: I changed her background a lot... I think.... I?m not really that familiar with the new X-Men series and what not, so forgive me for any mistakes, don?t hesitate to point any out either. Let me know if anything needs to be improved as well

Alliance: Brotherhood of Mutants

Biography: Where and when he was born he was born is unknown, even to himself. His exact age is a mystery as well. His earliest memories go back to the civil war in the United States. He worked as a mercenary, flip flopping between the union and confederate forces. All things before this are unknown.

In the early 20's Sabertooth joined a group of mutant mercenaries called "The Marauders". Through this group he worked ant learned the inner angles of the american underworld. He became heavily associated with Al Capone in his high life in chicago. Sabertooth then left the Marauders to enter the private sector, striking out on his own. When Capone went down, Sabertooth moved in and took up a powerful role in the now massivly vacant Chicago underworld. He made a name for himself and started to spread his horizons to new cities and new "Families".

In the late 30's the world was on the brink and he saw a spot for himself in the chaos of the world in Europe. Weather it was allied or Axis, it didn't matter, he was a mercenary in the truest sense, his loyalty lied with the bills and the bullion. He sought out work in this bloody war, and there was lots to be found for one like himself.

In the mid 40's, the war was drawing to a close and allied victory seemed eminent. With the demand for his skills in decline he returned to his home ground. Upon his return the government took up an interest in him, based on his performance in the war. He volunteerd to take part in what they called "Weapon X". In this experiment he was drilled, probed, and tested to his bodies breaking point, time and time again. By the end he could barely recognize what was left of his body, he had been driven to a level beyond he had ever imagined.

In came the 60's, the first signs of american presense in Vietnam had began to appear. He left once again to join in this vicious war effort. This was a war best suited for him. He lived for the savage and viciousness of this jungle war. It was here that he first came into contact with the one named Logan, or Wolverine as he came to know him. The rage he felt was inexplicable, but all to real. It was as if this man's very life infuriated him and he would do anything to kill him.

In the modern day, The time of great war over seas is over, and the war at home is just begining to get interesting. If all his ages in war showed him one thing, it was that humans were weak and undeserving. Less did he sympathize, but more so inspired by the ways of the group known as the "Brotherhood of Mutants". Plus, this allowed him to hunt down and find Wolverine.

Powers: Sabretooth is a mutant with a number of both natural and artificial improvements to his physiology. He regenerates and heals hundreds of times faster than a normal human, and has recovered completely from injuries that would have killed most humans, even those with superhuman abilities. He can regenerate organs such as eyes and large portions of flesh, yet it is unclear if he is able to regenerate missing limbs and vital organs; this "healing factor" also grants immunity to most toxins (except in massive doses) and diseases, gives him enough stamina to exert himself at peak levels for days, retards aging to an unknown degree, and gives him enhanced senses, enabling him to see and hear distant objects more clearly than a normal human, and identify and track someone purely by scent. Most notably, his eyesight is so keen that he can see in almost complete darkness, just like a nocturnal cat. This may be a result of being able to see into the infrared and ultraviolet spectrum. These senses are actually a result of his constant cellular regeneration as are his enhanced agility and reflexes. He is also superhumanly strong to a certain extent, and his strength has been further enhanced by the Hand and the Weapon X program. His healing factor and strength has been depicted with some degree of contradiction, depending on the writer.

Sabretooth's physical appearance also displays animal-like mutations, including sharper-than-normal teeth with two pronounced canines and retractable claws where ordinary humans have fingernails. Sabretooth's skeleton and claws have been molecularly laced with nigh-indestructible metal adamantium.

Name: Calvin Montgomery Ralkin
Codename: Mimic
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Appearance: He currently wears a modified version of the depicted outfit. He always keeps a hood up to cover most of his face, and during the day he wears a very dark pair of sunglasses. He also wears a pair of black gloves. No matter the temperature, he keeps himself covered up. He is still learning to deal with the exceedingly acute senses he absorbed from James Proudstar, and therefore tries to block most sensory inputs off, figuring it will be easier if he handles them one at a time. Currently, he removes his sunglasses as often as possible. His body is adjusting, but it still overwhelms him at times.
Alliance: Calvin is currently a member of the group known as the Brotherhood of Mutants, and has been exposed to many mutants of varying powers throughout his stint. However, he is now actively pursuing a way to remove himself from the Brotherhood so as to switch over to the X-Men, having, like many other mutants, been fooled into joining the Brotherhood under somewhat false pretenses, or at least a rather inaccurate description of what they stood for.
Biography: The ball was rolling toward me. OK, more like barreling towards me, but it was all good. The fans in the stands were making plenty of noise, and I was having a ball. I dropped, shoving my hands into the ground and kicking my feet up, nearly doing a handstand. My shin caught the ball in mid-flight, and I turned as I was upright again, just enough to watch the ball hit the goalie's shoulder and bounce into the net. That had been way too close, but it was enough. The crowd erupted in cheers. I'd just scored the winning point for the championship game, at least in junior varsity. It was too bad our varsity team that year sucked.
But that feeling, that joy, it was good. And the knowledge that it was because I was better than any of them, even though I was normal, not one of those freaks with weird abilities made it all the better. I'd played one of them before. His agility had been incredible, almost disturbing...He'd thought himself so grand, because his power was so subtle that most people wouldn't've known. But I noticed the eyes. The eyes were red, a blood red. He told everyone it was contacts, but I knew better. I'd lost to him, but barely. I swore I'd prove I could be as good as any of them, the god-damned freaks.
Or so I thought back then, back when everything was simple. Then, a few months after my 17th birthday, someone came to me. When I got back from school, there was a girl in my bedroom. That hadn't phased me. It was normal enough. Lots of my friends, boys and girls, got out of school earlier than me due to lack of practice, and used my easy-to-access bedroom window to get in. What bothered me is that I'd just left the girl I was looking at five minutes before, and she definitely wasn't in a state to be getting ahead of me like that. Hell, she'd take longer than that to get her clothes and make-up back on.
Then the girl started to change, right before my eyes. Suddenly, a pair of black wings had sprouted from her shoulders, so large as to be scraping my bedroom ceiling. Her skin had also turned a pale shade of blue. I took a step back.
"What are you?!" I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
"Not what. The question is who. I am not a thing, I am a person."
"You are a freak."
"I am different."
"You're a mutant."
"So are you. Look at yourself."
I could feel my face pale. What was this creature talking about?! I glanced down at my hands. I nearly threw up all over the room. My skin was slowly gaining a dark green tint, as though I were copying this other person's ability in my own way. I shook my head, as though that would make what I was seeing go away. "No! I'm not a freak! I'm not one of you creatures!"
The girl - no, the thing - just laughed. It was a high-pitched laugh, almost like a giggle. It was honestly amused by my reaction. Well, what did I care?! Let it be amused.
Then the worst thing happened. My door opened up. My parents were standing there, trying to figure out why I'd been yelling. They both took a step back. I stepped forward, trying to plead with them. "Mom, Dad, please..."
My father looked me straight in the eye. "I have no son. Now both of you get out of my sight before I call the cops."
I had no choice. The girl grabbed my wrist and took off at the window. It appeared I was about to be forced into a whole new life...
Powers: Mimic has the inate ability to "mimic" powers, and also to copy intellect and physical traits of someone after he has been within ten feet of them. It is speculated that this may actually being an understating of his powers, or that maybe particularly powerful mutants can effect him at a much longer range. Mimic is capable of permanently copying the abilities of other mutants. It is believed that the maximum number of mutants he can have absorbed abilities from permanently at any one time is 5. He currently has absorbed powers from the mutants James Howlett (healing factor, his most recent acquisition), James Proudstar (superhuman strength, speed, agility, endurance, reflexes, and durability, heightened sensory perceptions and acuity, and the power of self-propelled flight), and Kevin Sidney (omnimorphic shapeshifter). He almost never uses his shapeshifting abilities, at least not completely, for fear of losing who he is. He feels that constantly changing his form could make him lose himself entirely, something he is severely afraid of. For the same reason, he utterly refuses to absorb any telepathic abilities from any mutatns, though he would like to absorb telekinetic powers and is keeping his eye open for someone with telepathic powers good enough for him to absorb.

"Right, I think it's working, testing, testing, 1,2,3......... anywho, I don't know why I'm doing this, but this is my story, a rather twisted story all in all, I'm not sure how it got like but what the hell, might as welll start"

"I used to be a mercenary, well I still am, but I used to be human, I went by Wade T. Wilson. I did the jobs no one wanted, or people though were to dangerous, and I always came out on top. It seemed everything was going right and nothing could go wrong when I found out I had cancer. I could survive exposions, gunfire, jumping off roofs, you name it I've done it, my body could take all that, but it couldn't prevent cancer. Well, me being me of course, I found out about a experimental cure that they were doing for people with fatal diseases and such, so I thought to myself what the hell nothin to lose but my life and thats allready forefit anyways. The doctors called it the dead pool, and I signed up for it quick, though they gave me a very low rate of survival, they obviously don't know me" The voice began into a fit of manic laughter.

"So where was I? Oh yes, well I ended up recieving the treatment an what a treatment indeed, my cancer was gone, but the procedures, if you could even call them that left me heavily scarred and disfigured, the might as well let me die, if I was gonna be this messed up. Not only that though, what they used to cure me was a enhanced version of some mutants DNA, and of course what do I gain it's powers. Now I don't just look like a freak I got the powers to boot, but can't complain now, they do come in handy. Since then, I have been taking jobs worth more cash then ever, everyone on the western half of the world who's got major problems is tryin to get ahold of the merc Deadpool. Though it's gettin rather old, and I'm lookin for somewhere new to hang my hat"

Powers: Deadpool is not a natural mutant, he recieved his powers from a serum of an enhanced version of Wolverine's healing factor. His power of healing is so fast that his cells are constantly regenerating, making him nigh immortal, as well as capable of regrowing limbs. His power also enables him some superhuman strength, speed, stamina, endurance and agility, combined with his natural athletism, and skills makes him a formidable human weapon.

I've sent you a PM concerning my sign-up, Blayze.

Name: Brice Sallon

Codename: Breakdown

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Appearance: Brice is a 6' even, caucasian male with green eyes and jet black hair. His build is healthy but modest. He's also fond of black sunglasses of various stylings.

Alliance: X-men

Biography: Brice was born in a small town called Salem, Alabama to wealthy Southern lawyer and his Boston-bred, judge's-daughter bride. Their marriage was almost doomed from the outset, and Brice's birth hardly made matters easier. He cried almost constantly, and even when he grew out of infancy, he was always an enigmatic child.

He kept to himself throughout the younger years of elementary school, and was never liked at all by the "swing-set friends" as he ill-affectionately called the more popular children who made fun of Brice and his friends while swinging too high for them to reach. They tormented Brice daily, leaving him with a complex about people who thought they were too high for him to reach.

It wasn't until he was 11 that he found an enviroment where he was accepted by the masses and allowed to be himself. That acceptance came when he moved with his mother to Boston, and found himself knee-deep in the Boston hardcore scene. The music matched his anger, the people knew his pain, and, best of all, it was OK.

Then, one day when he was 16, he was walking with his mother down the street back to their well-to-do apartment on Boston's historical side, and suddenly a crack rang out. He turned to find the source and saw a man eight stories up in an apartment window with a rifle, just before he pulled back from view. It was an instant before he felt the wetness on his back, and turned to find his mother face down, blood everywhere, deadly silent.

It wasn't then in some extreme rage that it came to him. He just knew what he wanted to do, and he did it. One moment he was gazing at the horrific sight of his mother, the next instant, the whole section of that apartment came crumbling down to the ground.

He turned his head upward to the room his mother's assailant had been in, but saw nothing. The next instant, the bricks that had made up the old apartment building suddenly lifted up into the air, and began floating as though they were in space. What was left of his mother's killer floated amongst the rubble, crushed beyond recognition. The only way Brice knew for sure that it was his target was by the crushed rifle floating near his remains.

Immediately, he heard the sirens. Brice wasn't stupid, he knew what they'd do to him--a mutant child capable of toppling buildings; and who knows what else. He ran. He ran fast and hard. He caught a bus back to Alabama, hoping that his father would offer some assisstance.

His father turned him in. They tried to pin his mother's murder on him, but the obviousness that the Mob had put a hit out on this prominent judge's daughter kept him from being convincted of that. That fact, however, never brought any mobsters to justice for his mother's murder. He did eight years in a special mutant-oriented correctional facility where he was tortured for the sake of controlling his power. It worked only as long as his conscience did. After eight years, he brought his wing of the facility to the ground, and fled into the woods, where he wondered for two years.

Powers: He has an astonishing ability to manipulate gravity. Practically speaking, he can level small buildings, and even jump great distances. In theory, he could destroy cities and fly.

Name: Peter Parker

Codename: The Amazing Spider-Man!

Gender: Male

Age: 18

Appearance: Clicky! When out of costume, Peter is about 5’10”, has hazel eyes and light brown, spiky hair. He is generally considered handsome, but because of his intelligent nature, prior lack of self-confidence and his label as a geek, girls don’t seem to go for him as much as he’d like. He appears lanky, but each of his muscles are well defined and toned.

Alliance: Generally a one man army against the scum of the Earth but is generally affiliated with the X-Men.

Biography: An orphan from the age of six, Parker grew up in the home of his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Generally a reserved child, Peter spent most of his time in his room conducting experiments and studying. His intelligence was uncanny, and both his Aunt and Uncle knew great things would come to him; They just didn’t know how great!

Although constantly bullied and tormented at school, Parker prevailed and didn’t get dragged down into the childish hate filled world that his peers dwelled in. While attending a presentation at Empire State University on radical gene therapy with the use of radiation at the age of fifteen, Parker was bitten by an irradiated house spider. The following events were a blur, but Parker was rushed to the nearest hospital with a rising fever and many of the doctors attending him feared for the worst.

Remarkably, Parker survived and made a full recovery. Even more so, his glasses were no longer required, the asthma that previously plagued him vanished and he became far more pleasant and out going. Eventually he learned that some how he had remarkable strength and speed; and even more shocking, his amazing ability to stick to walls! Through some new instinct gained from the spider, Parker also developed an amazing adhesive material something a kin to nylon, but with a tensile strength on par with steel. Armed with custom made ‘web shooters’ Spider-Man was born!

Figuring he could use these incredible powers to make a fast buck to help support his Aunt and Uncle that were further falling into debt, Parker developed a costume and took up a brief career in ‘professional’ wrestling. As The Amazing Spider-Man, Parker was an instant sensation in the New York area and managed to pull together enough funds to pull his Aunt and Uncle out of their debt and live comfortably.

Professor Charles Xavier, founder of Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters, learned of Parker’s new, mutant like DNA through his Cerebro system and approached Peter to become one of the first of his fledging X-Men team. Much to Xavier’s disappointment, Parker rejected the offer only to take up his own crime-fighting career as Spider-Man.

Despite his advances in reducing crime, defeating numerous super villains and making the city a better place in general, Spider-Man quickly became known as a public menace thanks to the slanderous pictures and articles about him in J. Jonah Jameson’s Daily Bugle newspaper. Parker remained strong and continued his campaign against those that would prey on his city.

Some time later, whilst exploring a newly discovered asteroid that had entered into Earth’s orbit, Famous astronaut, John Jameson and his crew discovered a new element with amazing properties. Thinking the black rock to be a huge new energy source the shuttle returned to Earth with its cargo. Upon entering the upper atmosphere, the crew lost control of the shuttle under mysterious circumstances and began a dangerous descent to crash land somewhere in the middle of New York City.

The shuttle indeed crashed in the city, finally coming to a halt, teetering on the very edge of the George Washington Bridge. Quickly coming to aid the crew, Spider-Man was met by the hulking villain, Rhino. The fight was pretty one-sided with Rhino’s superior strength and size making it easy for him to batter Spidey. Then, from the cargo hold came a black liquid that bonded itself quickly to the wall-crawler, granting him new strength to defeat the Rhino, rescue the crew and even prevent the shuttle from falling into the Hudson River below.

Spider-Man later learned that the black liquid he now wore as his costume was a living organism that augmented every single aspect of his powers and even had the ability to generate webbing without the use of his web shooters. These new powers, however, came at a price. The organism tried to take over Parker’s body and use him for it’s own purposes. So, Peter quickly sought out Charles Xavier for aid in suppressing the alien life form.

Powers: Spider-Man possesses superhuman strength, reflexes, and equilibrium; the ability to cause parts of his body to stick with great tenacity to most surfaces; and a subconscious premonition or "danger" sense.

Spider-Man's overall metabolic efficiency has been greatly increased, and the composition of his skeleton, inter-connected tissues, and nervous system has all been enhanced. Spider-Man's musculature has been augmented so that he can lift about 10 tons. His reflexes are faster than an average human by about a factor of 15 (he is often able to dodge bullets, if he is far enough away).

Spider-Man is extraordinarily limber and his tendons and connective tissues are twice as elastic as the average human being's, despite their enhanced strength. The bones and muscles in his back have also been augmented to allow him to crouch and crawl for extended periods of time without causing permanent damage. He has developed a unique fighting style that makes full use of his agility, strength, and equilibrium.

Gifted with the amazing powers of the alien costume, each of Spider-man’s powers have been greatly augmented. He is also now able to manipulate the suit to generate it’s own webbing and can toggle between his Spider-Man costume and civilian attire (Or any other outfit of his choosing) in mere seconds.

EDIT: Spider-Man's suit is also capable of disguising him as anyone of equal or greater size. It also holds within it a pocket dimension, where Peter can store any object of anysize for an indefinate amount of time.

How could I possibly resist?

Name Remy LeBeau

Codename Gambit

Gender Homme, cherie. Mos' definitely homme.

Age 19

Appearance ain't he the coolest?
Under that mass of unkempt hair is a face marked with several weeks' growth of stubble, the grime of living on the street, two long parallel scars along his left cheek and a disturbing pair of red-irised eyes.

Alliance Brotherhood of Mutants

Biography Gambit was orphaned at an early age, and grew up on the streets of the Big Easy, New Orleans, making a living out of cheap card tricks and pickpocketing. After unwittingly stealing a gold pocketwatch from Jean-Luc LeBeau, head of the Thieves' guild, the boy was adopted and given the name Remy LeBeau. Brought up as Jean-Luc's son, Remy was married at sixteen to Bella Donna Boudreaux, heir to the Assassins' Guild, in order to foster peace between the two rival organisations.

A year later, the Assassins' Guild put out a contract on Senator Robert Kelly, who was believed by many of the country's powerful elite to be fostering racial hatred and driving humanity towards a war it could not win. Remy's first contact with the X-Men came when Professor Charles Xavier visited Bella, now the Guild's head after her father's untimely death, attempting to persuade her to call off the contract. His second contact came that night, when Wolverine - acting without Xavier's consent - broke into his master bedroom to try and persuade Bella more forcefully. As a hot-blooded Cajun, Remy defended his cherie with zeal, coming close to blowing the invulnerable Wolverine to pieces along with his mansion. Ultimately, of course, he was no match, and Wolverine left the youth facially scarred and with his pride shattered.

Feeling useless and undeserving of Bella after failing to protect her, Remy disappeared once more into the New Orleans underworld, living rough and stealing food to live. When she was found dead - poisoned by a senior Assassins' guild member with designs on her title - he blamed first himself, then the X-Men. When he was headhunted by the Brotherhood, who had heard rumours of a young man that had held his own against Wolverine, he accepted through bitterness and lust for revenge.

Powers Gambit can charge objects with kinetic energy generated by his body. The upshot of this is that the object glows red, flies nearly as fast as a bullet when thrown, and explodes upon impact. Most often he charges playing cards or throwing knives, but with effort can charge an object as large as a HummVee. Mental blocks currently prevent him from charging living tissue, but he's working with the Brotherhood's psychics to overcome that obstacle.

If an object is charged and then gently released instead of thrown, it will gradually decompose in a haze of light, while either floating gently to the ground, hanging in mid-air or floating upwards, depending on its original weight. Not useful in combat, but a pretty trick to impress the ladies.
