Being busy is my anti-drug.

This is so true - being busy does make it difficult to do anything (drugs or otherwise). Usually being busy is a good thing, but sometimes it's a pain in the butt.

As for the whole drugs discussion that is going on, I just think it all comes down to being responsible. Whether you smoke or whether you drink alcohol or whatever, if you're doing it in moderation and you are in control, it's usually not an issue. If you let something like that run your life, then that's obviously another story.

I just tend to think that people are responsible for what they do. It's not my business if someone drinks or smokes if they aren't having an impact on me. And for me personally - like with alcohol - I am quite happy to drink socially and such but I could never become an alcoholic. So you know, "use of a substance" whether legal or illegal probably tends to come down to how responsible you are as a person.
EDIT: Oh and I've updated my previous post, since I was trying to be sarcastic/funny, not condescending.
Don't worry about it. Sarcasm gets lost in text at times.

I just have dealt with plenty of people being really immature about those who choose to do recreational drugs, like it's the most horrible stigma in the world. If they start to abuse it then, yeah, it's really horrifying to watch.

Otherwise it's just another thing people do with their money and their time.

Yes Db, it in't! But isn't it legal in Japan? I don't know.

Porn can be like a drug though, you can get addcited. Thank god I only take a peek about once a week. hey, I'm a growing boy! :animeangr

Really, I don't need it to please myself. I see hot girls on TV. Plus, I've watched Heroes. Hayden penettiere is hot, so is Kelly Clarkson. Just because you don't see them naked doesn't mean you can't fantasize.

Damn, I'm just degrading myslef..

It doesn't help that one of my ex-friends got into pot since her life sucks as she puts it. And she'd rather spend all day being wasted than do anything with the rest of us. It's like she's a different person. I don't recognize her at all.

That and I ran into her at the store the other day and she decided to start yelling at me at the top of her lungs that if I wasn't such a witch with a capitol B and would have tried some with her last year when she started smoking it her life would better because we'd still be friends. As if I ruined our friendship by saying no. >_<

So believe me I understand since it goes both ways. I get treated like I'm some stuck up loser for saying no. :animesigh

Anyways, I kind of have a firmly decided to not take drugs. although weed and sroons I guess don't leave a devastating affect on you. Marijuana and shrooms used to be used medicinally, but they've dropped that. They even put small trace amounts of cocaine into Coke.

You never really know what might be in your food. I almost got high off of whipped cream because the aerosol can make you high.

Well, I will dabble in the marijuana every once in a while, and a beer or two never hurt, but I won't venture into the harder stuff because I am afraid to. I don't want a chemical dependency on my hands. My family tree has nothing but 'addictive' personalities, so I really don't want to end up like some of my relatives who are dependant upon things like cocaine and herion. I really don't have any desire to use any of those things either, just cause, weed can get you high enough!

And the only reason I am not an avid pot smoker is because its an expensive thing, and I need to pay for car insurance and guitars and stuff thats alot of money.

I am a pretty bad mooch when it comes to toking up, but like I said, its not often. I have to be in a comfortable enough situation and know the next day I can sleep in until noon and later talk to my friends who were with me about how my head was shrinking because I was so unbelievably high. :^D

Well aside from having no interest, my anti drug is my career or rather what I want my career to be. I already enjoy what I do so I've never felt the need to do something like pot or any other illegal drug. I don't smoke or drink either. Though I do use different alcohol's for cooking though. Beer batter fried fish is good stuff.

I have friends who use drugs. Most of them it's a weekend type of deal. They stay clean during the week and party on the weekends. And sadly a few have let it ruin their lives. But so long as they keep it out of my apartment, since it's a non-smoking lease and I don't want to get kicked out. I don't care. That and I hate the smell of smoke/pot and alcohol so I'd rather they weren't getting drunk there either.

But they usually do that elsewhere anyway so it's rarely a problem.

I will agree with DeathKnight and second his opinion about people using drugs recreationally. The old adage goes 'everything in moderation', so just let those people who want to get high on a Saturday night do their thing.

Preach-y straightedge people are the worst.

That is a LIE. I saw those Truth commercials, and whenever people do weed all they end up doing is to sit on the couch all day and not talk to friends! I think you definately loose your soul when you do pot...its just bad.
Lol, I think the best things to do smoking is exciting stuff (aka Missions, Adventures, Quests, Journeys). Like going out into the middle of the lake and smoking or walking through the dark forest to get some milk.
Drugs/Alcohol can be fun and all, but people who rely on it to have fun are equally sad.

I once had a girlfriend, who unbeknowst to me, smoked pot. I didn't know that she did it at all until she came to school just wacked out of her mind. She was so lazy and talked about stupid things and it just plain creeped me out. I dumped her later that day.

Everything in moderation sounds good, but then again some things that aren't drugs per se can be bad for you...like playing too much video games in lieu of exercise or spending too much time on the internet....>>

I don't have anything against people who smoke pot, I think that stoners need love too, but I don't want to be the one that has to love them. I believe everyone will try MJ at least one time in their lives and I think that about five percent of them will become addicted to it. Drinkers are okay to me, just I don't want to be assoiciated with people who think drinking is needed at every party in order to have a good time. That being said, I don't have a problem with having a drink or two but it's kinda sad when alchohol has to been present at a little girl's birthday party because the adults need it to have a good time.

Be a straightedge all you want when it comes to alcohol until you're 21, or in some places 18. Then overindulge yourself, discover that you didn't like the feeling of puking your liver out of your mouth, and thereafter drink in moderation. Besides, if you have the wrong sort of friends, you might wake up with sharpie drawings all over your face. Oh yes, and you won't be able to find your wallet either.

As far as pot goes, I'm from southern California so I believe I'm required to tell you all that pot is fine if you want to waste your money. I don't smoke it myself, but I don't object strenuously when my friends use it every now and then. Everyday smokers that can't control themselves I tend to shun because their attitudes heavily reflect their habit.

Cocaine, Ecstasy, Crystal Meth? Heck no.

But since this really was supposed to be about my anti drug, I attached the following image to leave the right impression of me on everyone who has ever seen or read a doujinshi.

Well yeah, I can't honestly call myself straightedge, because it's more like "under 21." Not that I'd do anything when I am of age, though.

I won't preach straighedginess to anyone--if someone wants to drink or smoke or do drugs, it's their own choice and I (for lack of a better word) respect it.

But a very very good reason for me to BE straightedge (eventually) is that I will have much better things to do with my money than spend it on alcoholic drinks, cigarettes, and other stuff. An addiction would really injure my future priorities, like paying rent and buying food.

I find the whole concept of 'straightedge' preposturous because almost every form of Rock and popular music/culture has been defined by inidividuals who used drugs and alcohol for either recreational or creative purposes. I don't see the point of giving it a label because the people who are usually 'straightedge' are a trying to conform and still be non-conformist, however by giving it a label, you're giving yourself something to conform to.

I don't see the point of giving it a label. Just do stuff or don't. Don't try to make it sound 'hip' or 'cool'.

Hahaha, that totally happened to my boy friend once, except it wasn't his wallet he couldn't find in the morning...

It was his eyebrows.

I'll be quite honest though, I don't really have an anti-drug. The only thing that stops me is the availability and if that's all that's stopping me, yes I do realize it's a problem. However I did have the worst trip in my life a couple of weeks ago, it's not enough to stop me but I guess I needed it seeing as I realized I don't want to be calling my friends at random times on the verge of a break down because I think my life's a misery and the cartoon cats won't leave me alone.

My anti-drug will be because I don't want to hurt or worry my friends :)

Heh nothing says I don't do drugs like pleasuring oneself to sexual images....or text. But even yaoi and other types of hentai would be bad if done more than average people do. I've seen people addicted to this stuff and to be honest, they weird me out than stoners and angry drunks.

I have more than one anti-drug, and one of them would be playing DDR. I have old classmates that I knew play DDR with me on a regular basis and pretty much all of them started smoking when they turned 18. Needless to say only three of us remain playing DDR because the rest of them are too busy huffing and puffing on the mini-stogy. DDR is my anti-drug because it keeps me healthy when I'm not in sports or working out. It's a workout and a game at the same time. Playing DDR really shows me how fortunate I am to be able to be healthy and play for hours on end and only have to have like 2 jugs of water afterwards....and like half a thing of deodarant.

As a side note though, have you seen drunks or stoners play DDR. Drunks play so bad that they fall down and stoners are weirded out by the bright lights and flashing arrows. It's hilarious either way :D

I suppose it could be said that apathy is our anti-drug. ; )
Well, there is an anti-drug as one would call it. At least for me that is. And that is sex. Not that I use it as one, but rather that if I wish to have it, regular smoke as well as the smoke from pot doesn't get along with my asthma too well. It just kills the mood if I end up needing my inhaler just to breathe let alone do anything else. And yes I've heard about how pot supposedly helps Asthma, in my case that has never been true. Being exposed to it second hand has always been a problem.

And alcohol? Especially if it's someone who drinks a lot. The smell alone is enough to kill any romantic or lustful inclinations. So since those things are a killjoy to my enjoying a relationship that is becoming more serious I have no interest in them for myself or in the person I am dating either.

No offense to anyone, but if they smoke or drink in excess or do the illegal stuff, that's a huge turn off and usually ends the relationship right then and there. I don't mind some social drinking or very light smoking. But I've yet to met anyone who only smokes occasionally, whether it was pot or regular cigarettes.

I don't have an anti-drug. I've never dranked nor smoked, but I've been around alot of people that do smoke. Now I normally try to stay away from people who smoke, atleast until they're done smoking because I get headaches from the scent.

Hanging around smokers (mainly people that smoke weed) can be a funny experience too especially when they start tweaking. Seeing peoples reaction up close when they think they're sinking into the ground can kill you if you laugh at almost any and everything.

Outside of my family, I've never been around people that drinks, or atleast people that goes overboard with it.

Right now my anti-drug is pretty specific. I'm on a number of medications that mixing them with illegal as well as legal or alcohol is quite dangerous. Not that I'd take them anyway, even if I didn't have to worry about that.

By far my most pressing anti-drug is my children and my grandkids as well. Not only do I wish to set a good example by not taking them, I don't want it to interfere in any way with taking care of them or being a part of their lives. I don't doubt that some people can and do use them in moderation. But I would rather steer clear of them in the first place. There are religious reasons as well, but I hardly need to go into that.
