1. W00t! Finally YTV has an air date for Naruto! And finally Canada will air something before the United States. ^^
YTV Naruto Date (2005-08-07 10:36:18) Shonen Jump's latest Newsblast stated, "What?s the difference between Canada and the United States? Well, it?s further north, it?s colder and? it gets the Naruto anime one day earlier. Yes, that?s right, Naruto will debut on Canadian network YTV on September 9, 2005, at 9:30pm." Thanks to Monkey for pointing this out.
and
And, lastly, Sasori...
Sasori was great. ^^ Ah... did you finally see him fight? I'm not sure if that was fire, but that was just shway. Edit:
Naruto DVDs will be released starting in March. At first, it'll be the edited-for-Toonami version with 4 episodes per disc. New DVDs every other month. Starting in July of 2006, Uncut boxsets will be released in sets of 13 episodes each. According to convention attendants, the boxsets will be very reasonably priced - at $20 to $30 per set.
Not bad, $20-$30 for 13 Episodes. Not bad at all. Actually, that's USD. Never mind. >.< Edit: BUMP argh. >.< Stupid YTV Can't Do Anything Right. According to Narutofan and ANN They're showing Naruto one week later. And are, instead, showing an extra episode of Inuyasha. This'll put Canada, again, behind the United States. This time by two weeks unless they decide to show an hour long special. -ArV
 2. I have Guilty Gear Isuka. I loathe it. The gameplay doesn't seem smooth enough for me. All the characters just seem to clunky. I'd rather play my other fighting games like Soul Calibur 2, Tekken 5, and Narutimetto Hero 2. -ArV
 3. I don't play Duel Monsters anymore. I used to be into it bigtime. I never actually bought any of the English games cards, but my friends gave me their extras because I could beat them with crap cards. Well, at least, I could one of them. I'm still a moderator at Edo's List, though I don't deserve to be, and he was almost an authority for a while. Anyhow, I don't like those CCGs and TCGs. They're a perfect way to make money off innocent children that don't know better. This goes for the card sharks as well as the corporate string pullers. Also, those with less money, like me, often had the excluded feeling. It's no fun when kids beat you just because they have more money than you and buy better cards than you. -ArV
 4.
it IS the only way those who dont have cable can even get to watch anime
So 4kids is a station?
Maybe it's just down here in America because 4Kids had a different name than that. It's kinda confusing so I won't go into detail about it.
So 4kids had a different name... being FoxBox? Ok, I looked it up online, since you wont go into detail about it. The Fox Network ran FoxKids and then FoxBox. Due to budget issues they had to create a partnership with 4Kids Entertainment and there is now a section called 4Kids TV. 4Kids TV shows mostly 4Kids Entertainment shows, with the exception of Ninja Turtles. Though, I'm still not sure, is 4Kids TV on the Fox Network? -ArV
 5.
I must say that I really don't like 4Kids. They've changed their name so many times I forget what it's called until someone tells me. Wasn't one of the names TheFoxBox or something like that.[/COLOR']
I'm not sure what you mean here. FoxBox is part of the channel, 4Kids is just the company that licenses and the shows you're watching. FoxBox and 4Kids aren't the same company. That's like saying 4Kids changed their name to KidsWB because they showed Yu-Gi-Oh! on KidsWB. -ArV
 6.
does anyone know what that message at the begining of 145 meant?
I'm not sure what you mean since I don't watch the anime anymore. But, according to narutofan.com TVTokyo isn't going to show a Naruto episode next week. Instead they are going to show the Naruto movie. This might be it.
Naruto Movie to air in place of Episode 146 Reported by: Tazmo on Friday, July 29th, 2005 at 12:47AM The last episode of the Naruto anime series contained no preview (but only because that's the way the RAW came out) and many people wondered what is up for the anime coming next week on August 3rd. We can say that there will not be an Episode 146 from the series, at least not until August 10th. In place of a normal Naruto episode, TV Tokyo will do something that would be unheard of in the USA, playing the Naruto movie that came out just last August in theaters, at 7PM August 3rd. Yes, this is the same movie that we all had to wait to see until this past April, and can be downloaded via BitTorrent

The characters are great but the way the story progesses in the anime is poorly done. My major complaint are the unnecessary flashback scenes and there are a substantial amount of them.
It is annoying, the amount of flashbacks used. The amount of time wasted in the anime is really bad, especially if their only purpose is to give the manga a little further to go without being caught up to.... That's part of the reason I stopped watching the Anime. The manga is more exciting ^^
And no, I still don't care for Naruto, but it makes for decent background viewing while I'm drying my hair.
Don't worry Dagger, you can get into it XP just watch/read from the beginning. And be devoted!! -ArV
 7. I googled it. According to the sites I found, it'll be released October 11 by Bandai. I actually haven't heard of this before this thread but it looks so interesting! ^^ They kept the Anime Seiyuu and tried to imitate the Anime style. This is definately going on my "to-buy" list. Though, I'm not sure, if the release date is for J, E, or U. The trailers are in full Japanese but EBgames says it'll ship on October 11. http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/242684.asp http://ps2.gamespy.com/playstation-2/cowboy-bebop/ http://ps2.ign.com/articles/502/502357p1.html edit: IGN has two Trailer Videos ^^ Yume no Owari wa Genjitsu no Hajimari da. -ArV
 8. Oh My! XD Chapter 269 explained Sasori very well! I didn't get it when I read the LQ version.
And hopefully the jutsu names are ok, too, as I doubt they will use the actual japanese names, because they didn't in the Manga in Shonen Jump.
Recently, they have been putting the Japanese names, haven't they? It's been a while since I read the magazine, but the last one I bought had the Japanese name + the translation in brackets beneath it.
I stumbled across what I believe was a Naruto re-run earlier today, and I was wondering if someone could tell me which episode I watched. It couldn't have been a new episode, as the time slot was all wrong.
Wow, Dagger, I thought you didn't like Naruto... something about 'no matter how much eye shadow somebody has' XP And... what do you mean by rerun and time slot? Was this broadcasted? But yeah, it was the Neji battle that DDG was talking about. edit: I just skimmed through the RAW for 270. Sakura really has gotten stronger. ^^. That profile closeup on her eye
(after she destroyed the puppet)
was wicked sexy. -ArV
 9.
Actually the One Piece name change wasn't really a name change so to speak. L's and R's in Japanese are the same. (The sound is a mix of them when you say it) So really Zoro and Zolo are both just fine, as would be Rena and Lena for another name example.
Same goes in Shaman King's Len/Ren. I always assumed that the main reason they used "Zolo" instead of "Zoro" is because there is already a popularized swordsman named Zorro. They might be afraid of arguments at the copyright courts. -ArV
 10. It reminds me a lot of RahXephon's main character, Ayato. Especially the bangs. The only thing is, Ayato has grey hair. -ArV
 11. Yes, I know. -.- That's why I hid it. I have a bad sense of humour but it was one of those "seemed-like-a-good-idea-at-the-time" jokes. ^^;; well if anybody could lead me to a website that could sell me the books at a low price (even if they're not hard covers), I would appreciate that. -ArV
 12.
Isn't the word "anime" just the Japanese word for "animated"? Or does "anime" refer to the classic "Japanime" style?
In its original context "Anime" アニメ means animated. Therefore, all things animated are Anime. This includes Simpsons, Beauty and the Beast, and Bugs Bunny. Yes, Invader Zim would be classified as Anime under this definition. But, if the Anime convention that Akari_Demon was talking about was a convention for this type of Anime, they wouldn't have to outwordly proclaim that Invader Zim was Anime. It would already be obvious. Since they had to actually classify something as Anime, their definition of Anime is not as open as the original meaning and actually is limited to specific works. So, like you said, in this case it can not be Anime and the convention was BS'ing it's way through. -ArV
 13. I've been trying to get into Dungeons and Dragons, but the books are too damn expensive. A friend of mine says he can get me PDF versions though. >.> Illegal as it may be, I wish to try the game out with my friends and when I get the chance get the beautifully hard covered books. *cough*
(removed)
*cough* -ArV
 14.
They had a great concept (a great story mode that follows the series) but the controls sucked.
OMG is that all? XD On the most part I agree with you, but for one game, One Year War, the controls were beautiful. I played Federation vs Zeon like ThoraxtheImpaler, and although the controlers were OK, but they seemed lacking. When I picked up the controls for Kidou Senshi Gundam: Ichinen Sensou (Mobile Suit Gundam: One Year War), I was blown away. The only problem is that the game is still in Japanese so unless you've seen the Anime, you wont know what's going on. The best part is you hardly use the regular (triangle, square, circle, X) buttons. This is possible because most of the gameplay is done through the Dual Shock controllers and the Shoulder buttons. It was so natural, it felt like I was actually controlling the mobile suit! Plus the graphics were nuts.
Right Analog Stick: Camera Left Analog Stick: Movement L1 Button: Dash L2 Button: Jump R1 Button: Main Weapon (depending on equipment) R2 Button: Melee Weapon R3 Button: Vulcans/ Bob Missile (Guntank) A Buttom: Secondary Weapon X Button: Center Camera
Another cool thing is that you also play as other mobile suits and there are three sets of controls depending on the fighting style you're in. Edit: Since this game is only out in Japanese, don't expect to find it at your local Best Buy, but it'll come out. ^^ So my point is not all Gundam games have sucky controls.
Last problem I hate the most is that they dont give each gundam detail. If the gundam has a special weapon let them use it the right way instead of making it look like the weapon and then letting it have the effects as the others.
^^ also solved in One Year War. The graphics and detail are amazing. Usually between stages in games I'm mashing the "START" button to get past the "mission explanation" screens, but EVERYTHING in One Year War is soooo beautiful. ;_; Soooo beautiful.... ;_; -ArV
 15. Three things. 1. Even if the "for Favourites" got the most votes, I doubt it would change the Moderating teams mind since favourites still clog up the board and are generally annoying. 2. Most of the favourites threads are created by what some people call "n00bs". People who don't know much about this forums and will probably have difficulty locating this thread and voting. 3. Although it has to do with the Anime Section, does the poll really have much to do with Anime? I like the way OtakuBoards is run. ^^ Though sometimes I wish there were more moderators. -ArV
 16.
The individual DVDs, which will begin coming out in March 2006, are going to be edited[/b'] (the TV version, presumably). However, uncut box sets of 13 episodes each will start coming out in July 2006.
I think this is a great idea. It makes the soccer moms happy as well as the "otaku" community. Especially if they put different ratings on the packages. What I'm afraid of, though, is that things may get a bit confusing with two different versions of the series released. Many people may star proclaiming the series as 'evil', like many in the past, if they show their children the wrong version.
And it sounds a heck of a lot more palatable than the release schedule they apparently have set up for Hikaru no Go... a new four-episode disc every three months.
Any word on the Naruto release schedule?
My guess is that Kishimoto hasn't decided how all the characters would look yet... But my favorite part so far was the Chuunin Prelims. mostly cause you got to see all the characters fight finally (I'm mostly talking about Shino, though ). But I really love the current arc, cause we'll finally figure out what the hell they want with the Tail Beasts. By the way, I profer to be called "Tatsu."
OK Tatsu. ;) I always thought they wanted the "tailed beasts" because they were that powerful. The power that the beasts possess have caused many wars in the past. What I'm curious about is what the other beasts will look like. We've seen Kyuubi and the Ichibi(?) Shukaku. I'm wondering about the other seven, including the
two captured already.
Even if he hasn't decided, I hope he's made a good change like he did for
Sakura and Neji
. Not leaving the character almost the same like he did for
Rock Lee and TenTen
. -ArV
 17. I don't get too embaressed by what I do. If I want to do something, I'll do it, as long as it doesn't infringe on anybody else. I'm proud of being myself. ^^ A list of a few things other people told me were embarrassing: - I dunno why... but at conventions i ask the Japanese guests of honour for a hug in Japanese. At the last convention I earned the nickname "Hug Boy" for a session. I haven't been doing this for long so my record is 1 hug out of 2 asked. ^^ - I like making voices. ^^ So sometimes when a line or word materializes in my mind, I repeat it in different voices. My friends said I sound like I'm spazzing or something... - I'm not that shy, so I can go up to people and do things you normally wouldn't with a stranger. Usually it's asking a question or smiling albeit a bit strangely. But I try not to infringe on their personal space. ^^ -ArV
 18.
Having characters smoking, good or bad, and regardless of whether the kids' parents actually smoke it's going to promote it in some way, and I completely abhor smoking.
I disagree slightly. I loathe smoking. My parents have smoked since I was a child and I still find it sickening. I see smoking in the theaters all the time, and it still makes me cough when I smell somebody's smoke. Whenever I go to see a movie there's an advertisement that tries to stop smoking in all movies. They say "The more smoking teens see in movies, the more likely they'll start to smoke." I hate that advertisement as much as the anti-pirating advertisements. Seeing more smoking isn't going to make me want to smoke. It never has, and I've seen a lot more smoking than I should have in my life. I say education is the key. It's the only way children can truly understand the repercussions and risks. Sheltering is just not the answer. -ArV
 19. I'll agree with most of your post. The first saga of Naruto, although enough to hook me, pales in comparison to the rest of the series. It's important for plot and character information, but is slow, repetitive, and fundamentally boring. The series is like wine. It gets better as it ages. My favourite saga is the current Manga saga. The fight between Sasori and the Leafs is very, very good. Like Tatsubei Yagyu said, I would've forgotton about Sasuke if Sasori didn't mention him! I almost forgot about Hinata. >.< My theory is her hair will be longer. -ArV
 20.
It is Officialy reconignzed by Anime Mid-Atlantic as an anime.
That's like declaring Lord of the Rings as a Science Fiction. I can declare it. I can organize a group of people do declare it. I can create a Science Fiction convention to declare it and it still wont be Science Fiction. Just as Lord of the Rings doesn't fit into the Science Fiction category, Invader Zim doesn't fit into the Anime definition. It seems to me that they were just trying to attract a bigger crowed by getting Zim fans. -ArV
 21.
my friends say this is not an anime but they are wrong i saw it on tv in japan.
The Simpsons are on TV in Japan too. Does that make them an Anime? Invader Zim was made by a Western Comic Book artist, Jhonen Vasquez. The Series was produced by Nickelodeon, an American company. -ArV
 22.
Looking back at my parents generation I see all the old pointless comedies that were popular at the time and are now forgotten.
Just like those shows, Anime will evolve. All those pointless comedies have become today's pointless comedies. They had "Leave it to Beaver" we have "Everybody Loves Raymond". (bad example) They had "The Jack Benny Show" we have "The Tonight Show". My point, shows will continue, and shows will grow. Your father remembers his favourite series from then, and you'll remember your favourite series from now. Hopefully, though, there'll be better, newer crap on the television set.
Now some of the real popular old shows are still on the TV land channel, but those are the real popular ones, what will happen to the unpopular Anime, heck what will happen to the popular Anime. Some of these shows are too good to be forgotten.
Well, the good ones will be remembered. The bad ones wont. It's that simple. If you get older and you want something on the air, just prove that it'll be popular. They probably had to do that with every show on TvLand. Maybe in 50 years there'll be an Anime series on TvLand...? -ArV

 24. Ah, I loved the "And Now for Something Completely Different" line... I really enjoyed Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. I think it was one of their best collections ever. I didn't really enjoy The Life of Brian though, except for the songs... ^^ Those were always dandy. The best joke, though, must've been in Monty Python and the Holy Grail's beginning when they talk about Swallows. XD Are you suggesting coconuts migrate? XD -ArV
 25. Invader Zim is a great show. ^^ Though, I prefer the creator's comic books, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Squee. Actually there's already a forum on Zim in the "Music, Movies & TV" section of OB. I think you'd be surprised how many people are into the same things you are. I was at least. ^^ On a side note, I can't wait for the Anime/Scifi/ComicBook/Horror/VideoGame convention this August. ^^ I'm going to get (Zim creator) Jhonen Vasquez's autograph. ^^ -ArV
