How do you scream from your nose? Aha... I usually just do it from my throat and stomach... Maybe I'm screaming with my nose and don't know it... ...That interests me very much. You must teach me how to scream from my nose. Also, it is a proven fact that people with more body-fat can scream better than skinny kids. Maybe your friend should grow a big stomach...

Haha... you have to work on it. I believe I started at least five years ago. I've been in numerous bands, and I'm pretty proud of my vocal abilities. From high-pitched wails to raspy or low growls... I can do it. I can't sing though... So... maybe that was a sacrifice I had to make. It doesn't help your regular singing voice. Tell your friend to drink alot of water or green tea. That always helps. Tell him that he needs to practice absolutely all the time. If I miss two days of not screaming, when I try to do it again, my voice will sound weak. So, you have to build up your voice alot. ...Not much help... I never got coaching... I kind of just started because I thought it sounded cool..
Ick at most of these bands. They are not hardcore. Hardcore is essentially punk with the heavyness of metal, and little more street attitude. Try the Gorilla Biscuits, Minor Threat, Youth of Today, Agnostic Front...that kind of stuff. You want a more modern idea of hardcore? Try Refused, Jesus Wept, Kids Like Us, Comeback Kid, No Innocent Victim, Madball and that kind of stuff. You want experimental hardcore? Try Botch, These Arms Are Snakes, the Bled, some Converge, etc. As for all the something-cores of the world... Most of those bands have little value. All That Remains may as well be called pop metal, and 'deathcore' is mostly just watered down death metal. Now as for grindcore, you should definitely look into old Napalm Death and Carcass. Though, older Carcass has quite a bit of death metal even in their earlier stuff(thus creating the original idea of deathgrind, totally seperate from the modern sound of deathcore) it's still got the break-neck speed and chaos of old grind and crust punk.
I find the bands to have much value. Converge is a big yes. Botch as well. These my friend, are the basics of mathcore. So, you should definitely check them out. These Arms are Snakes are okay. And hardcore is essentially punk with faster tempos, straight-to-the point songs, and non-mellow vocals. and praises to 8Bit for saying something about Children of Bodom, Iron Maiden and Ensiferum. :] I grew up on Children of Bodom and of course, Kill 'Em All. Not so enthusiastic about any of Metallica's other albums (besides the Black Album). I got into Iron Maiden last year (a little late?) and they're the most metal band you listed. Children of Bodom is basically just a core band, while some may argue... They use chugga, and all the metalcore essentials (which really isn't a bad thing.). But anyway, yeah Iron Maiden is definitely metal, or what metal used to be before it became such a big fad. All That Remains is one of the better core bands. But I don't listen to them that much, but you really should check them out. As I Lay Dying as well, if you just want something to headbang to. If you want some real hardcore, like what Ashes was talking about. Try Minor Threat, Jerry's Kids, Die Kreuzen, Black Flag, Bad Brains, SSD, and my personal favorite of the screamo genre, pg.99. Also. Try Saetia. Their songs are sad, but have alot of hardcore parts. You may not like the vocals, though. I do. But that's just me... lol. p.s- deathcore is faster than death metal. It's deathmetal mixed with grind, and metalcore breakdowns... If you want regular death metal, Prem. I recommend Amon Amarth, or Opeth.

I try to keep away from Disturbed, Godsmack, Nickelback. Etc. All of that is the only stuff people listen to around here besides rap. I've heard their stuff enough to puke it out of my brains. But I will say that the singer from Disturbed has a great voice. Maybe not a very changing voice (his voice sounds the same... in every song.) but it's powerful. Right now I'm listening to Giles- "Slumber Party".... This weird techno stuff isn't allowing me to turn it off. The video I'm watching of it... is so entertaining. I just got through listening to Between the Buried and Me- "Mordecai". I was very surprised. They're basically From A Second Story Window with faster grind parts... and... what's this? I had to make sure I was still listening to the same band because the end is so melodic... But I like it. This band is pretty good. Also listening to Comeback Kid. A hardcore classic, indeed. After five years... I still havn't bought a CD from them. Maybe I should try it.
uh, high. um. i'm kinda new here....so.......um, phew. are you serious? i can't believe people can be so close when they don't even know each other. question. will i come to love evryone like this. p.s. whoever started this, are you leaving. i don't even know you, but (sniff) your message really touched me, i cant hold it in anymore!:animecry:
This is where I usually break out into improvisational dance moves and sing-a-longs, but... Instead. I'm just going to say. There's a good chance. Give it a try. The OB after all, is very lovable. And as for leaving...... i hope not. Actually. I have a fear of death... Well. I think most people do. But... I just. The Ob will be missed in my afterlife. Yep.
-
That's actually a pretty awesome idea. I love Michael Jackson's music, personally, and I'd be down with doing a story with his music. This might actually start up a new genre of RPs on OB where different music and genres are used, heh. I'd be up with the MJ RPG, though.
Haha... We could make it a spin-off of MJ's Moonwalker arcade game.

Well, let's say... I have a big heart? I'm like the Dr. Phil of OB. Or... one of them (I reckon we have quite a few). I don't think your a cold hearted *****. I just value these things quite a bit. And Rick. High-five. We could form together to make a super OBer. The reincarnation of RICK HUNTER! And we could fly a big robot around and transform into jets and all kinds of fun stuff. Wooh! If the OB shut down. I may cry. Haha. You guys didn't just all of a sudden make an impact on my life or have me care about you... You've all grown on me. So. That's probably where I'm getting at. After a while, I turned into a big teddy bear. And now. I love you all. Especially you Raiha. I think all of OB does. -Dr. Philter (ooooooo) p.s- I believe the term is Hot Pink.
Well, I think, as lame as it does sound, I can relate to what you're saying. I've known my OB friends longer than any of my real life friends due to my moving alot over my life time.
That made me get a little sparkle in my eye. I really do understand moving around alot, and not getting to fulfill relationships with people because of it. So, you my friend. Get one big hug. I understand what you mean Aceburner. But, like I said. We're all people here. Whether or not we can't see each other everyday, we have a good idea of how each of us speak and act, and of course, what we're interested in. Rick. I love you man. That's all I got to say right now. I love the mods too, though they may not know it. The mods are just lovable. As un-fun and hateful as they are ;]. -Hunter

Writing Aaryanna vs. Aberinkula [Poetry Contest]
Nomurah! replied to Sabrina's topic in Creative Works
As for both of you, I had problems with the rhythm. Not so much the simplicity or the heaviness. Yes, your poem was bit long Prem, The sentence structure really messed up my rhythm, but the last sentence flowed very nicely. But I do appreciate your wording, and emotions. This is definitely your voice coming through. Aaryanna, yours had a very light-hearted feel. It made me see the sunshine coming over the mountain peaks. This is very nice. But your rhythm was the exact opposite of Prem's. It was cut off too much for me... Or... too short. It didn't flow as much I would've hoped. But I did enjoy the hopefulness in your voice throughout the poem... you really did show me what home meant to you. As far as voting goes... I don't know. This is hard. Aberinkula gets my vote for having such spirit. Needless to say, you pwned too, Aaryanna. -
There's only one way this work. A mix-up of Sci-fi/Romance/Horror/Teen Drama/Talking Animals/Religious/Action. No. But. It'd be nice to have something a little less normal. Like Highschool Musical or Hairspray. Something... a little more... Fictitious? Fantastic? Etc. Coming up with music/lyrics doesn't seem too hard. So. Maybe I'll help. Or at least watch. p.s- make every song to the tune of "With Arms Wide Open" by Creed. That would make for an interesting musical.

I've been here for quite a while. The members here have really grown on me. Even the ones that hate me, or the ones I've never typed one word to. I understand we're all humans here. And we all have feelings. It just... hurts. (Not to sound like an emotional snob, but...) If I died, none of you would know. So many people have lost contact with others here. And we eventually get over it, but you can't help but wonder. To get to the point. I consider you guys a second family. All of you, as much of a douche as you may be. Because I understand I can act the same way too. So. No worries. So yeah. Thanks everybody. I guess... In this thread we could all sit around and cyber hug each other. But seriously, what are your thoughts on... the human connections that all of us have? Would you miss me? People I will dearly miss: Claire. Matt (the black one. lol) Aberinkula (I have no clue what your real name is.) We may lose contact eventually. Matt. I havn't talked to you in forever anyway. lol. But in a completely non- homosexual way. I love you guys. and Claire.

Haha I like how you use deathgrind (Deathcore is the same thing.) Well. If you want help with general hardcore stuff. Well. The Number 12 Looks Like You and Circle Takes the Square are big yesses. But it just matters what you're into. Try Gospel too. They have progressive elements mixed in with hardcore to make a very artsy sound. It's very nice, and relaxing in a strange way. Also. Try Winds of Plague. They have the '**** YEAH" metalcore and I mean the manly kind, like... yeaaaahhh... breakdowns, with deathmetal and grind elements. Also. Try Bring Me The Horizon and Embrace the End. Both are similiar. Well. Actually I'll just make a small list. lol. Strike the Choir The Ocean The Jonbenet HeavyHeavyLowLow Enter Shikari The Devil Wears Prada. All great bands. Go. Listen now.

So... Music kind of is the only thing I do. I don't watch that much TV, I do get on the computer alot, but I'm usually always looking up or listening to music. So. I guess. I have a long list of favorite musicians. I no longer really have one favorite (well. The Number 12 Looks Like you may have an exception)... I listen to all of these bands/musicians pretty regularly. I listen to many many many other musicians as well, but they just didn't make it on my favorites list because A. I don't have enough material from them, or B. They just can't beat anyone on my favorites list. I'm pretty faithful to most of these bands. So. Here goes nothing. This is the list I put together. Off the top of my head. lol. In no particular order, by the way. I just listed it to see how many. 1. The New Season 2. Strike the Choir, 3. This is Your Captain Speaking, 4. Stained Glass Masquerades, 5. Life in Rescue, 6. Kaiden, 7. pmtoday, 8. Asteios, 9. Heart for a Hand, 10. Tarantuloco, 11. Nearest the Positive 12. This Love These Hands, 13. In Irons, 14. The Black Noise Party Boys 15. The Number 12 Looks Like You, 16. HeavyHeavy LowLow, 17. Bring Me The Horizon, 18. From A Second Story Window, 19. Arsonists Get All The Girls, 20. The Human Abstract 21. As Cities Burn, 22. Fear Before The March of Flames, 23. Alesana, 24. The Fall of Troy, 25. The Blood Brothers, 26. Enter Shikari, 27. Chiodos, 28. HORSE the band, 29. From First To Last, 30. Aiden, 31. AFI 32. pg. 99, 33. Saetia, 34. Circle Takes The Square, 35. Gospel, 36. I Would Set Myself on Fire For You 37. Amon Amarth, 38. Children of Bodom, 39. Iron Maiden 40. The Devil Wears Prada, 41. Everytime I Die, 42. Underoath, 43. Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, 44. Norma Jean, 45. This Runs Through, 46. MyChildren MyBride, 47. xDEATHSTARx, 48. Eyes Set to Kill, 49. Haste the Day 50. Brand New, 51. MewithoutYou 52. Coheed and Cambria, 53. The Sounds of Animals Fighting 54. Die Kreuzen, 55. SSD, 56. Gallows 57. My Chemical Romance, 58. Sick Puppies, 59. Fall Out Boy, 60. Billy Talent, 61. Anberlin, 62. Antic Cafe' 63. Straylight Run, 64. James Blunt, 65. John Mayer, 66. The Fray, 67. Annalisa, 68. Chris Loggins 69. The Gorillaz, 70. As I Lay Dying Haha. Yeah As I Lay Dying is at the bottom. xD Though bands like Embrace the End, Winds of Plague, Figure Four and Lamb of God could kick As I Lay Dying's butt.... They've kind of grown on me. So. Yes. I don't expect you to detail every band you post, but it's of course, okay to talk about some of them. The Top 9 on the list are of course, local bands. I'm very into the local scene. The Number 12 Looks Like You, is most likely most favorite. I'm a very big fan. I have all of their CDs and what not. And I'm waiting for the next one. Bands Like HeavyHeavyLowLow, Alesana, and Enter Shikari are really good, but have only got one full-length out each. So. When they come out with more, I'll be able to decide whether or not they're up there with #12. HeavyHeavyLowLow I will have to say... though... Is Amazing. Enter Shikari as well. Bands like xDEATHSTARx, SSD, and MyChildrenMyBride write lyrics about being straight-edge, which is a major WOOH for me. Drugs and drinking are not my thing, and I'm glad these guys express their veiws on it too. xDEATHSTARx is just the most... well. Brutal Christian band I know of. It's pretty cray how much trash and punk infulence they can mix in with metalcore, and blow it out with three vocalists on deck. ...Lol. I'll probably detail more later. So, yeah. Somebody else come up with a list please? Doesn't have to be as long as mine... But... I don't know. At least longer than ten bands. lol. EDIT: I forgot one of my most listened to! xD... The Jonbenet is number 71 Then. They're right up there with The Number 12 and HeavyHeavyLowLow.
Bauhaus; "Ziggy Stardust" I feel like it's a sin that I prefer this version to David Bowie's original, but what can I do? It's just a little more energetic, I think. I don't really like the way Bowie sang it, at least compared to Peter Murphy.
lol I would get mad, but I can't consdiering I havn't heard the cover. So I don't know if its better. But. David Bowie is the shiz. Let's not forget that. He was very creative, even though he... uh... has some weird stuff. Art. I guess. Listening to "Beauty Is In The Eyes of The Beerholder" by I Set My Friends on Fire You. Dual-vox, two man band, with highpitched grind parts, synth/keys breakoffs, metalcore breakdowns, with catchy clean vocals like that of... I don't know. From First to Last? (not as high-pitched there, though.). Pretty good. Their other song is good, though it's not as good to me. ASL. Some of you may know I Set My Friends on Fire for their cover of Soulja Boy's song Crank That or whatever.... "Crank That Calvary Boy"
-
Right now, I know we've already covered this subject. But I'm listening to This Is Your Captain Speaking. For the reason... Well. They broke up. I was informed today by D.J (Drummer)... And it's kind of sad. They were only around for maybe two months, and I only got to see them live once (out of four total shows). I'm just really glad I get their demo before they broke up. Because, now the myspace is gone too. I'm sorry to all the people that liked them. :[
Right now I'm listening to Kill the Switch by Circle Takes the Square, they are a sweet Mathcore band, I think they're mathcore anyways, but yeah epoicness. The song is so fast and the screams are amazing. I love the song. I also have 94 Days by As I Lay Dying, which is almost as cool. Other songs I got off projectplaylist: The Bird and the Worm by The Used and Cry for Eternity by Dragonforce which are also really good songs.
Kill the Switch is an okay song, but the rest of the songs are much better to me. "As the Roots Undo" is an epic album. Maybe not a mathcore album (considering that they don't use math in their songs.), but one of my favorite screamo albums. Other great songs are: "In the Nervous Light" "Interveiw At The Ruins" "Crowquill" "Same Shade as Concrete" etc. And as It would have it, I'm listening to them. And BMFV. Their new album is better than The Poison. But the singer is annoying. No offense.
-
Damn it all. What is this? WHAT IS THIS? ...what.. I seem to be... no.. NO can't stop this strange feeling... like... I want to dance along... No... No... U-AH OOAH UAH UAHAAAAA

Becoming the Bull is utter crap. (Not dissing anyone in this thread) It's probably the most disappointing piece of music I've heard in a while.... Atreyu's new CD isn't worth ten dollars. I recommend the greatest hits album though. Good buy. So. I listened to bits of that before shutting it off. Now I'm listening to The Ocean- "Neoarchean". This is one of the best progressive pieces I've heard in a while. And. It's metal. Oo La La. Si'? Also listening to Nightwish. Why not? Everyone else is, obviously. The Synth guy is really cool. The drummer couldn't drum to save his life. I believe I've now heard every metalcore double bass drumbeat there ever was. They're all the same. sigh. The guitarists sound like they're playing something off... Wait! Is this band Children of Bodom with a girl singer? Tarja's vocals are pretty good, though. She's definitely not a Amy Lee remake. The dude's vocals don't stand out so much though. If only this band added in more odd time signatures. The pretty parts are well put together. The heavy parts get on my nerves. The Classical/ Synth parts are exactly what I want.
-
Uh... My latest musical obsession is definitely... Acoustic stuff. I've been carrying my Breedlove around in all parts of my house, playing every acoustic track in my arsenal. This would range from Gregory and the Hawk, to I would set myself on fire for you. Other than that. My latest musical obsessions are most definitely The Jonbenet, and As Cities Burn. As Cities Burn has so much emotion bottled up in their music. The Jonbenet just makes me feel alive. Simple as that. Those are my latest obsessions, other than just occasionally listening to bands.
I will stab you... Go back a page or two...
Is that a threat? Don't worry though. Nightwish has plenty of hot girl voicing to cool that temper off. :] I like the new singer better. The band is okay. The guy on keys is pretty good. The classical instrumentation is good. The "metal" stuff... just doesn't seem right to me. It's not "metal" enough for me. Metalcore is heavier than this stuff... It's guitar riffs similiar to that of Children of Bodom. A girl singing and an average double bass drummer. But that girl does have a voice. :] Haha. I'm currently listening to Lordi. Not much to say for it.
-
Does anyone here like Nightwish? I suddenly had the strange feeling of wanting to listen to them. Too bad.
I just had EPIC lulz! It's not that bad Panahce. My friend in obsessed with Mudvayne, and we he heard/saw that I listened to them, he didn't start talking about them. And tell me, what do you like about Chevelle? What songs did you listen to?
Don't say EPIC. And. I was in a Barne's and Nobles listening to music... Drinking some coffee... I listened to FTM... They kind of... didn't reel me in. They're too mellow for me... or something. Chevelle is what my friend Oran calls his "easy listening" band. They're good, I won't bring them down, but. I just don't listen to much of the hard rock stuff anymore. No Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, or Mudvayne for me. I'm listening to The Jonbenet. This band is crazy. Amazing. Hardcore, with the energy of bands like The Blood Brothers and The Number 12 Looks Like You without dual vox, or the math that #12 has to offer. Their bassist is excellent. Their drummer is good (he's not the best, but he plays well and has a few tricks up his sleeve.). The vocals are absolutely awesome, though I bet most of you won't like them. And the guitarists are awesome, and come up with some good hardcore riffs, into mellow, strange, and noisy stuff. "Behold the White Whore", and "Eating Lightning pt. 1" are my favorite songs by them.
-
My favorite soundtrack right now... The August Rush ST. Besides that, I'm listening to one of my favorite bands. Their album is EPIC. I'm not sure what genre they are. But. pmtoday Imagine guitar riffs like that of Coheed and Cambria, and a few leads like that of As Cities Burn, and when it all piles up, it sounds very similiar to Fall of Troy without so many math time signatures. The vocals are like Anthony Green (Circa Survive) but with so much more passion and range... There's dual vox, and they both go from deeper to the high-pitched Green style, and sometimes suddenly go into some harsh vocals... The drums and bass are dynamic, and well put together. The drummer is one of my favorites, indeed. :] They even use spacey ambient elements at some points.. And they do sometimes add in odd time signatures, and they have many tempo changes, if all that is what you're into. The songs are catchy and the just make you feel like screaming out "Wooooh!" and start dancing...Maybe that's just me. This band has so many elements. Even prog-rock. Look them up no matter what. Every song on their new album is great. Oh yeah, they're also an indie band from Arkansas.
-
I'm actually listening to This is Your Captain Speaking right now. I have been for the past few days. :] I'm glad you guys like them as well. Two of their members are from Strike the Choir... Which is kind of like... Fear Before the March of Flames meets Underoath. I've also been listening to After the Tragedy... possibly the most important band of our time, from my homestate. They've appeared on MTV twice... They're indie, and are touring... It's hard to believe they were so nearby, and are now so big. They also are another hardcore band... While writing this, I changed my song to "dans-party massacre" by Attack! Attack! Attack! I found this band on purevolume like two weeks ago... They only have two songs up, but they're pretty good, if you're into strange stuff like this. They've got a very solid mix between screamo and metalcore... It sounds like pg. 99 with a little more drop-D palm mutes, and Underoath-esque guitar riffs. (sort of)
-
THIS IS YOUR CAPTAIN SPEAKING. This band was one of my favorites the first song I heard by them, called "The Art of Gravity"... It was like that of Brand New. Then, they started doing heavier stuff, and they do it right. :] There's so much emotion packed into each song, with a mix of mellow bits, and then bursts into hardcore, with powerful vocals, amazing drumming, and catchy guitar licks. They're amazing... I can't describe them so well, because it's kind of hard... They have so many good things about their music, coming from many different genres.. www.myspace.com/thisisyourcaptainspeaking1
