Embarrassing & Yet Fun Things That You Do

All right, this is a complete and total rip off of a previous thread. But hey, just because it?s been brought up before doesn?t mean it isn?t fun. Besides XP I wasn?t a member then so it doesn?t count. Anyway, as the title says, this is all about things that you think are fun to do and yet if others find out that you do? it?s embarrassing. lol

Now for me, for some reason, I love to do karaoke even though I can?t sing to save my soul. I hate listening to singers who are off key and yet I?m perfectly happy singing at the top of my lungs regardless of whether I?m in tune or not.

And though I know it?s not the same thing, it?s just embarrassing to be good at playing the cello and yet totally suck at singing. lol

The other? >_> I like dressing up for Halloween. I don't know why it embarrasses me. It is my birthday after all, but now that I'm an adult I feel self conscious about running around in costume. And yet at the same time it's fun enough that I do it anyway.

A thread where I can really shine ;D Haha, I do so much stuff that is completely embarassing but I wouldn't stop it for any amount of money. Everrr.

I think number one is singing when I go for walks/runs/when I'm alone. I'm just outside, walking home from the bus stop, and I'll crank my iPod up as loud as it goes and belt out whatever song I happen to be listening too. I'm like you Rach, I love karaoke (it's pretty fun when drunk, I won't lie) so I guess it's not a surprise I like to do that too xD It's just really embarassing when my neighbours are out in their yard when I come meandering into my front yard singing. I can sing though, so there's a bit of a difference there ;D

I'm also kind of embarassed of cosplay. Really, I don't think people should look down on you for dressing up on Halloween! But people definitely think it's kinda weird that I dress up more than once a year for said special occasion. It's so much fun though and it's really neat to see myself fit so perfectly with the characters I choose. I realize it's not the most conventional hobby, but I really do enjoy it and it's unique enough that it can keep a conversation going =P I'm more comfortable with it these days. I don't deny it, but at the same time I don't advertise it; people are getting used to it too, and lots of my friends are interested in seeing my pictures, haha!

I still think it's fun to plunk down on my couch and watch saturday morning cartoons, too... That doesn't always go over well at sleepovers, lol =3

I spend a lot of time researching what's typically regarded as 'psuedoscience' ... examples being astrology, ancient Egypt, water, string theory, UFOs, the bermuda triangle, perpetual motion ... so on. But also a lot of science in general. I guess being a nerd can be embarassing, but they're definitely hobbies?

My friends and I like to pretend to be tourists around our city. Just spend entire days out with designated nationalities. I live in San Francisco, so it's fun to give other people a laugh by asking 'which way is the statue of liberty/the world trade centre/effiel tower/chicago/etc' in terribly obnoxious accents. We probably look like idiots, but that's the point.

I take myspace pictures sometimes.

I read a lot of tabloid/fashion magazines ... and tear out photos and plaster my walls with them ...

I'm sure there's more, but that'll do for now.

I'm pretty fond of randomly dancing at inappropriate or random times. It makes people laugh and, really, just dancing for no reason is pretty fun. My girlfriend is very, uh, tolerant of this surprisingly.

I also like to sing songs badly. I can sing pretty well but I have a very versatile voice that can go into many odd pitches, tones and I can make many weird noises. So I can take something classic, like American Pie, and belt it out like a Gremlin or something. Very fun as well.

Ahh the joys of torturing the art of music.

Masturbate?
... Well, i can't really go into detail right there XD

Um... I like to wear my mom's striped sockings and this huge fullmetal alchemist hoodie that I have and pretend to be a moe girl. One of these days I'm going to become a professional trap, I promise!!!

Erm... otherwise, pretty much anything I do at home is pretty embarassing. My and my brothers are childish. I spend a lot of time playing with my 9-year old bro pretending to be Pokemon or babies (most recent personas being 'Munchlax' and 'Baby Uncle: The uncle who's a baby and therefor smacks you and says 'ge me ah sammich!')

Um... I talk about anime porn on forums and about being a trap? Honestly, what about me isn't embarassing? I feel sorry for the few friends I have XD

Oh, and I sing and dance constantly, period at home. Good fun. I also enact action scenes to myself. When I'm bored I always pace around the house incessantly and sometimes burst into a room then start slashing or shooting at air.

Like Death Knight, I like to dance at any time, unprovoked, and in random places. I suppose the fact that I dance pretty well makes up for it, but still. You can usually catch me doing some kind of weird pop-lock buckin', jookin' thing when I'm walking around a grocery store, Wal-Mart, Mall, school hall way, or anywhere else with a relatively smooth surface to slide my feet on.

Usually it's an attempt to mess with or embarass the people that I'm with. I become even more 'energetic' with my dancing if I hear music playing. And then I'll do my hip hop dance to any style of music. Can you say "Avril Lavigne Crip Walk"?

I dunno why, but dancing is really fun to me and one of the only times when I'm completely happy, heh.

I think we were seperated at birth.

Seriously though, I pretend I'm a pokemon withs ome of my friends, it's funny though. I used to think I was some sort of super-hero. In fact not a day goes by I wish I was part of this big destiny with magic and stuff. you know the cool anime ****. I want to become a swordman soemtimes. And I attack the air at random. I talk to myself a lot as well. I take vitamins A, B, C and THC. XD

I tend to sign when no one is in the house. In fact I was singing to Breaking Benjamin while my father and mother were at work. I will act out scenes form one of my stories. When I was five I'd do a Kamehameha aorund my house at random. Goku was my idol.

I used to read articles from Cosmopolitan so my future wife might be able to expand her sexy powers. Really I'm surprised a girl would even carry my offspring.

And when I squek while talkin my friends laugh at me...
I BLAME PUBERTY!:p

Cosmopolitan rocks because of the sex articles. I have every issue this year!

I was honestly starting to believe that all the males in Cosmopolitan were actually women shoving propaganda in our heads. Good to know there's living contradicting proof.

Dude! I do the same thing with my older brother all the time, I do the Cwalk and my bro breakdances, but we never dance to the same stuff, he "keeps it real" by b-boying to hip hop and rap, whereas I Cwalk to trance / electro and rock music.

I also am working on a routine: The Uniform Walk

I also have this strange habit (my friends call it strange) cos I skateboard to aformentioned rock and electro music

I also sing out at random times, and usually it's in French, Japanese or Spainsh.

I sing whatever's on the radio as loud as I can when I'm driving. I'm not one to change the station unless there's a commercial, so whatever comes on the radio becomes my karaoke. It gets pretty awful... I can't sing at all, and my range is horrible, so my voice is always breaking and, well, it's just bad. If the music has no words, I dance while I drive.

Also, when it comes to dancing, I can't do it. I don't know what it is... I think I just grew up with the inability to dance. So when I went to prom this year and my group I went with couldn't dance but chose to anyway, it was the best feeling in the world. I'm in marching band, too, and at 2 points this season, I've had to dance in front of everybody. Once was by myself (and it was terrible), and the next was in a group (and it was terrible)... but I've figured out that it doesn't really matter. So I dance anyway.

Let's see... I have a weird obsession with the song "Girlfriend" by Avril Lavigne... it's kind of an inside joke between my ex and me... but I can't ever get that song out of my head, so I sing it when no one's there.

I play with the pop-ups and advertisements on Myspace... "Hit 20 ducks and get a free ipod" and whatnot. I really like hitting the ducks.

And I talk to my cats. Can't forget that one. In fact, I talk to everything. Inanimate objects? Yep. It's a good time.

DDR is a big one.

It's only embarrassing 'cuz I'm not very good (and the last arcade machine I played on had a faulty right arrow.)

Also, I enjoy singing random songs while impersonating Louis Armstrong. It's fun normally, but then you get to weird stuff like Barbie Girl or Gangsta Paradise and you can't stop laughing, especially since he has that awesome deep gravelly voice that just begs to rap (not.)

Oh sure, now it's the DDR machine's fault. ^_~

DDR is a huge one for me for the complete opposite reason of AceBurner's. I love to freestyle on the DDR machine and people tend to gather around when I play. But it's really embarassing when someone I know recognizes me and starts bagging me on it. Then everyone knows me as that DDR guy. Grrrrrrrreat!

I also tend to sing to myself in moments of sheer boredom. I sing some weird songs though? Have you ever been on a bus going on a sporting trip out of town and then just start singing Journey's "Don't Stop Beleving" for no apparent reason. Then as your teammates stare at you in disbelief....they start singing with you! I had almost the entire Bus singing with me! Holy crap.

Skipping. When I'm in a good mood I like to skip around instead of walking. It's especially fun on calm summer days or windy spring ones. And it always gets me strange looks when I do it. That doesn't make it any less fun though.

Roller skating, even though I can't use line skates, I have to use the older ones with two sets of wheels. I just can't balance on the single, and for the same reason I can't ice skate at all. But regular skating on the older skates or kid skates as some call them, that I can do and it's great fun. Now if I just didn't look like a kid when I do it.

Moonwalking in public bathrooms, there I admitted it. :p

Seriously, it's almost like an illness, any time I'm in a public restroom and there's nobody there, I moonwalk backwards out of the stall. Apparently I was drunk at a friend's birthday party and did it in a packed bathroom, though on the plus side I got four drinks for it afterwards.

Singing in public, not loudly, but if someone was to pass me in the street they'd probably be able to hear me singing to myself. Favoured song: Hadaway's "What is Love ?".

What do I do? Moonwalking, electric boogying and I pop like a robot from 1984 at random. If I'm not using my dancing skills, I'm either beatboxing, quacking like a duck or singing songs outloud, varying a lot. Lately I mainly sung the following setlist:

Moulin Rouge! OST (Nature Boy, Your Song, Come What May, One Day I'll Fly Away, Elephant Song Medly, El Tango De Roxanne)

Lion King OST (I Just Can't Wait To Be King, Be Prepared, Circle of Life and Hakuna Matata)

The Boxer by Simon & Garfunkel.

Franz Ferdinand songs (Jacqueline, Take Me Out, Dark of the Matinée, Do You Want To, Fade Together)

Hallelujah by either Leonard Cohen or Jeff Buckley, whichever lyrics I feel like singing. Mostly Cohen, though.

Wir Sind Helden songs (Ein Elefant Für Dich, Denkmal, Nur Ein Wort, Von Hier An Blind)... They're kind of German, so often it might seem that I'm singing gibberish... Which I am.

I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.

Arctic Monkeys songs (I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, From The Ritz To The Rubble)

Comfort Eagle by Cake.

... And more, to be honest. God, I sing too much.
Or I sing and dance at the same time. Singing is more fun to do with other's, though.

Now I'm going to have to go and pull that CD out and listen to it! lol As well as watch Night At The Roxbury again since I haven't seen that since it was out in the theaters.

But seriously, singing is one of my favorite things to do. When I'm driving, out running errands, even when I'm online I'll have something playing that I'll sing to. About the only difference Rach is unlike you I can sing. :p I've always loved it, choir and taking voice lessons was one of my pastimes when I was in college. And yeah it is a little embarrassing, but I still do it.

Don't really see what makes this so embarrasing, I've not only sung them all but done the entire acts for most of them. It's a good movie. I've done the elephant medly from beggining to end with one of my friends for one of my theater classes in college.

Lesse though, embarrasing things that are fun...

Well it's been said but i also break out into dance randomly, normally when i'm at home or at work...since i'm constantly on my feet at work anyway it just makes things less boring and the girls like a good dancer so tis all good ;P.

Some other things that might go down on this list are kind of mature in content so I won't mention them for fear of offending someone, heh. Of course this is taking into consideration what the general conception of embarrasing is, of course most of these are not embarrasing to me.

Uhhhh....dunno if this really counts but when I sleep i sometimes spoon the pillow. Hey, it's comfortable.

I have a special long body pillow that I got just for sleeping with. ^_^

As for embarrassing... I love to sing and dance all the time. And yes I subject my poor dog to it. lol She always gives me the funniest look when I do it. Though she does seem to like to be sung to. At least I think she does. lol

The other... being blunt and honest. It's only embarrassing since the silly adults around here get the wrong idea when it's a mature topic. I mean come one! Just cause I know how babies are made, etc. It doesn't mean I've actually had sex. :animeblus

I go to random places and if I feel like it, I start dancing to Hare Hare Yukai or Motteke! Sailor Fuku. At first, I had thought to myself that I would never go outside and perform such a weird dance. Bute now...So far, I've danced HHY outside Borders, all over Anime Expo/LBCC, in the park near I live, inside Barnes and Nobles at the Harry Potter 7 event, outside Barnes and Nobles at the Harry Potter 7 event, and of course, at home, and outside of my house. Oh, and at my college.

As for Motteke!, I danced that all over Anime Expo/LBCC, home, all over my college campus,... And I think that's it. =3

It's very embarassing but I am the type of person that cannot show their enthusiasm for anime and my favorite things to do by screaming "OMG I LOVE (insert anime character or something here)!!!!!!!" or anything, well..., outgoing. I cannot scream for one, and two, I don't act very girly. >_>

Instead, I just dance, I guess. And that's how I show that I like the anime. ヘ(^_^ヘ)(ノ^_^)ノ

Oh, and cosplay. Although the only time I cosplayed (as Haruhi/Yuki) was at Borders, Walgreens, Anime Expo/LBCC, some cafe, home, during Halloween, and at the HP 7 Barnes & Nobles event.

It's totally embarassing. But it's fun~ After all, as they say, "it's better to make a fool out of yourself than to live your life worthless"~ (-ω- )

The most embaressing things that I do are childish or surprising.

One thing that I almost always do is take a camera with me every where and when I see something when I walk down the street, I take a picture of it and see if I can take it in any cool angles or whatever.

Another thing that I do that is embaressing is getting hyper with my friends. Like, I tickle my friends who are ticklish. I also play with people's hair and hats. I start dancing because I feel like it, do random things for the heck of it and for the reaction I get from others. I love to tease.

Anyway... I also attempt to dance, but I'm terrible at it. lol I still do it anyway though. Most of the time I never do it around others since I know I suck at dancing. It's still fun to do. I can waltz though. I just can't do other types of dancing. Heh.

I'd probably list visiting Otakuboards as an embarrasing yet fun thing to do. I've narrowly averted social catastrophy while visiting OB at school. I was typing up a response to an RPG I was in, when he leaned over and asked what I was typing. I told him it was a short story, whew. He jeered at someone who he caught RPing, and the class joined in lol.

I think the stigma has something to do with it being a board for anime (people don't respond well to the word 'Otaku').
