Another Okami update.

I was going to post this in the Okami thread but I didn't think the thread directory was back in check yet.

Anyway, I think I'm pretty far in the game. I've reached Kamui and decided to stop there. Had to because that last battle against some guy
that turns into a wolf
took its toll on me. Not to mention I had fought with
Rao as well as the Ninetails
all in one go. (I was never looking for a save point so fast in my life lol) I think I can do a little mini-review (paste later in the Okami thread) from what I've played of it so far. I'll do this in 3 parts (leaving the 3rd part incomplete for obvious reasons)

Part 1

I find the journey up to Orochi to be hooking. Learning different brush techniques as well as being introduced to lots of different characters. Speaking of characters, Susano has got to be one of the most annoying characters I've ever ran into
with his cowardice
. But his part of the story was told nicely, I suppose.
I did guess correctly in saying that was him trying to steal Tsukuyomi
(It was pretty obvious though). Waka is also an annoying character. Makes you just want to strangle him. I still have no idea what this guy is up to. But overall, the experience getting to Orochi was really good. The music was great (Still great), the battles were nice (although fairly easy once you figure how things work) and drama was there... I guess lol...

Part 2

There are some great twists and turns here, but at the same time a lot of the game has become a little tiresome. It's repeating itself quite a bit. Feeding the animals for praise, restoring nature, finding this and that... Yeah, it's starting to grow thin. I know you don't have to do those things (At least I think you don't have to do some of those things to progress through the story), but still... At least you can skip scenes when feeding animals. (I wish you could skip when gaining a new technique) The difficulty does ramp up a bit. While the fights themselves aren't really all that hard, they are tedious and require a little bit of thinking, or you could be dealing with some long fights (I don't really read the bestiary lol. Just found out they give hints on how to defeat an enemy). But like I said, there are some great twists during the Sei-an part of the game. I was spoiled a little bit beforehand though, but there were quite some unexpected stuff. And then there are some points of the game where you don't have any idea what you're suppose to be doing. Reading the journal didn't help either.

I did have Okami in my top favorites for a while, and while it haven't fell off the list completely, it has fallen from the top 3. It just seems far too draggy in some areas. (Mainly right where you think the story could end... I'm almost 60 hours into the game)

I also have some other games that my brother-in-law sent to me that I'll be checking out some time or getting the chance to finish.

Mana Khemia - I played about maybe 10 minutes of it. Didn't really get to do much of anything but watch a bunch of dialogue. I'm only curious about this one.

Gungrave - I hear it plays like Overdose, and I enjoyed Overdose.

Dragon Quest 8 - It's been a long time, but I get to finish this game.... ("Finish" is the wrong word to use seeing how I'm only near the beginning of the game)

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3 - I'll probably send this back to him since the game don't really work. I'll try to get it buffed to see if that'll help, but it looks like this game is done for. I only wanted it so I can pound on Naruto's face.

So I kinda got bored with Glory of Heracles and instead have been playing Final Fantasy IV for the DS.
It sure is more fun, but... honestly, I was not expecting it to be this hard. o_O I mean seriously, this may be my first time playing the game for myself, but I've seen a playthrough of the original version before. I certainly don't remember it being this hard. I have been informed that the DS version is supposed to be harder (at least more so than its Advance counterpart). Even so...

I mean, at least it makes pretty much every dungeon and boss memorable, but holy jeez. Edited by Miss Anonymous

At the moment I'm messing around with a few friends on the multiplayer of Transformers: War for Cybertron (or Call of Duty: Transformers as it's also known), even though only two of the classes are available for play and then only to level 3 (which you can reach after one or two games of Conquest if you win) it's still a heck of a lot of fun and I'd advise any TF or FPS fans to give it a look.

Been on a Sega kick lately, so I decided to break out and replay Sonic Adventure DX for the Gamecube. The dialogue is hilariously narmy, and the camera is horrid, but I love it anyway. I'm a little over halfway through Sonic's story right now, though I would have been a lot farther if it wasn't for getting sidetracked by NiGHTS Pinball. Again. >>

I've also finally gotten around to playing more of Evolution Worlds. And I must say, even though it's a pretty simplistic RPG, it's a lot of fun. It's nice having a light-hearted RPG every once in awhile. However, I had to sit through a really long sequence of cutscenes that made me think it took out a page from Xenosaga's book [even though I love that series as well].

You know, sometimes I go on these particular binges where I have to play a certain kind of game, or a game in a particular setting. Take this week for example; I'm playing games that have to do with space!

Such games like Homeworld 2, the greatest space RTS or Freelancer, the space flight sim with the best controls or even Infinite Space, a strategy RPG game for the DS!

The best thing about these moods is that I have no idea what will be next. RPG fling, maybe? Dungeons and Dragons style fantasy setting? Who knows! It's all mixed up and it's crazy! Edited by silpheedpilot

I recently bought Wild Arms 1, Wild Arms 2, and Suikoden off PSN a few nights ago. I had WA2 at one point a few years ago, but unfortunately it was at the point of my life where my logic consisted of "If a game frustrates you and leaves you stuck in a certain spot for months, trade it in" and I lacked internet, so I ended up getting rid of it, with every intention of getting it again- and then two weeks later they stopped selling GameStop. Geez, I didn't realize just how much I missed this game until a few nights ago @_@ WA1 and Suikoden are also good, Suikoden in particular since it somehow has a way of causing me to lose track of time when I play it (the night I downloaded it, I started playing it at around 10, and the next thing I knew it was 5 am).

I've also been trying to force myself to replay Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon Platinum, but it's not working >_>

So I tried to play Gungrave. For a while I was into it, although I was running into a lot of issues, but they really show up when you encounter the boss battles. Camera and control issues out the wazoo. I wanted to give this game the benefit of the doubt but when fighting
Bear and Bunji
the game gets ridiculous. It's not so much as hard either. Like I said, it's more like trying to get the camera and controllers to work for you.
Especially when Bunji decides to take cover and regain his health
. The controls, my God, you have to hold O to run. This is an action game, you shouldn't have to hold any button down to run. Terrible game. I want Gungrave: Overdose back.

I also started playing Metal Gear Solid 2 again on normal, but in all honesty, I'm not feeling this game anymore. The thought of having to going in the water to find
Emma
is just so off putting. I dread that girl as well as that part.

I'm going to be playing Dragon Quest 8, hopefully, but the main game I think I'm bout to start playing again is Devil May Cry 3. Edited by Magus

I played through MGS2 again recently as well. It's definitely a memorable game for me, but the underwater sequence as well as the escort mission was rather tedious. I loved the final parts of the game after that though.

Anyway, I've just started up Final Fantasy XIII on my 360 and got through the introductory tutorials. Pretty cool game so far, but the combat-focused gameplay is definitely different from previous FF. I also need to get back to playing some open world games I've been meaning to finish a long time ago like Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

Finished both Red Dead Redemption and Alan Wake on the Xbox 360 in the last couple of days, both excellent games and examples of their genres and about to start Final Fantasy XIII also on the 360 (even though I've heard the PS3 version looks much better) after I've had some sleep. Way to spoil stuff.

Anyway, I'm getting set to continue playing Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King. It's going to feel really weird playing that game again since it's been almost a year, and I don't know where I left off at, heh. (but I refuse to restart my game)

Harsh...
green day is an odd band... but i have gotten into more than just there opening albums.

anyways i got a discount on this old star wars game called Rebellion.
its a super strategy game taking place after New Hope and goes on into an alternate future... since you can play as the empire and defeat the rebels (not to mention destroy planets with the deathstar) the gameplay is bland, but addictive, and it takes a while to do anything, but at the end you feel accomplished.

I wouldnt recommend this game unless you like strategy, and i dont mean age of empires or risk... i mean like chess or shogi.

PS3
Playing Tales of Vesperia on the PS3 since January 2010
Belius is defeated and scene gets a bit emo but all went well. Now going back for the missing synthesis for Estelle and farming for new items. Grinding is not my problem, I can use this to train more (number of times fled is 0 flat, even getting killed!) and max out some spammable skills that I use on Yuri (Ensenga and Gouretsushuu FTW).
NDS
Finished Fuurai no Shiren DS 2 and
haven't started on the post-game dungeons. Too many to tackle so going one by one for the meantime.
Pokemon Soul Silver,
all 8 badges get, on the way to Indigo Plateau but first, catching Lugia is a priority! *buys 99 Pokeballs*
then trying out Phantasy Star Zero and Rockman Zero Collection (expert at MMZ 1-3) later on.

GBA
Touhoumon is ruled over and I'm loving it (playing Emerald English). Sorry Pokemon, but you're too much.
PC
I can't believe I cleared Touhou Seirensen...on Easy (people will seriously laugh at you if you said that or saw you playing the said mode...they're ****ing unforgivable). Now's missing is Touhou Youyoumu.

I know in one of my previous posts I said I wasn't feeling Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty anymore, but I went back to playing it anyway. I was watching this walkthrough on Youtube (commentary by some Vash123 person) and while it was hilarious, it did kind of inspire me to play it again seeing how easily he was capturing guards. And while I haven't tried my luck in capturing the guards yet, I did decide to finish up my game on the "normal" difficulty setting first, just to see what kind of item I can unlock after beating the game since all that I'd ever get on "very easy" was a silly camera >_>.

Anyway. right now I'm getting ready to run away from Fortune while preparing for Fatman.

Man, still thinking about that crap I gotta put with for
escorting Emma
is still a turn off though.

I got the Toy Story 3 game for Wii today. It's entertaining, but can be incredibly frustrating. I don't like using the Wii-mote and a nunchuk to control the characters, and targeting is a literal pain because of having to hold my arm out so much. And there were several stretches of the game that I had to do over and over because I got crushed by one spikey wall, or I fell off one rail. It's great that you have pretty much unlimited lives, but that doesn't make the thirty-seventh attempt at escaping from a flood of coffee any easier or fun.

The voiceovers sound really weird, too. There's a faint ringing whenever a character speaks, as if it were a substandard quality YouTube video instead of a video game being played on a HD TV.

I like it enough, though. Edited by Tonks

Finished up Metal Gear Solid 2 on normal. I was so disappointed to find out that I still ended up unlocking the digital camera in the end... All that hardwork I put into playing this game and only get a camera for my efforts. I even died quite a few times in the process. Died while fighting them Metal Gears, almost died during that big shootout with Snake "supposedly" watching my back.... He was not tossing out the items I wanted/needed... (AK and M4 bullets) I died while fighting Solidus because I fell off the building... I hate fighting with the sword... I deserve a better reward than a camera dangit...

Anyway, now that that's over, I've decided to continue my run on Metal Gear Solid 3 now... I'm going around shooting all the Kerotan frogs... The strategy guide cheated in leaving some out. I've been contemplating on selling/trading some of my games for Subsistence since I cherish that camera and I like the demo theater. I'm getting ready to fight Volgin soon. Just checking out some videos of people beating him non-lethally. (I had no idea you can use CQC on him)

After I finish this I'm going to either start playing God of War 2 or Devil May Cry 3.. (Might be both)

Lately, all I've been doing are replays of games that I've not played through in a long time. I've been jumping back and forth between a lot of them, but thanks to The Speed Gamers's Summer of Zelda, I've been blazing through Wind Waker, which was my very first Zelda game back in the day. I started it up on Thursday; currently, I'm just about to go into the Earth Temple. I may or may not go around and chart all the islands like I did on my first completed file; I'm just more concerned with seeing how fast I can beat it.

I forgot how much I loved this game, though. People love to hate on it for its cel-shaded graphics, but you know, it's still beautiful to look at, and a blast to play. Oh well. Haters gonna hate.

Before that, I was working on my New Game+ for Tales of the Abyss, which I will probably be resuming before long. I left off with the crew ninjaing their way out of Baticul, shortly before Natalia joins your party. I know I'm about at the 25% point, since Akzeriuth will be my next destination, IIRC,
and we all know how that ended
.

One of my goals with this TotA New Game+ is the Nebilim sidequest. I know the boss fight that it eventually culminates in is notoriously hard, but I really want to try. I think it'll be fun. Sort of. Maybe.

Speaking of Tales, I might finally get off my patoot and play Tales of Legendia as well, and I'm even thinking about replaying Tales of Symphonia, as it's been years since I last played through that game. [I should probably get off my butt and play more of Vesperia, too...] Edited by Vivian

I went on another Gamestop raid the other day and bought Persona 4, FullMetal Alchemist 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 (not I haven't played the first one, but it was the Limited Edition and it was there for $20 brand new, so I wasn't about to let another Atlus game slip by me into 'never going to find this game again' land even if I know I'll be raging about it in a month), and Rune Factory 2. I've mostly been playing Persona 4, since it's addictive as crack and about ten times more flexible than P3 ever was or will be- meaning I don't have to start a new game if I'm underleveled when I reach a boss because there's nowhere to grind and I can't leave the area, which has NO save point.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (ps2)
I need subsistence badly. Anyway, I'm doing a no alert run and so far I've only been spotted twice while doing this... Seeing how I'm not really all that confident in my ability of being stealthy I've been doing this on Very Easy lol. I finally managed to fight The End and go for the tranq route, and finally got both the Moss Camo and Mosin Nagant.... I was actually surprised he'd give me the camo on the hold up though considering I've been hearing that you might have to catch him 3 times... Anyway, I'm anxious to see this gun in action as well as seeing if this camo is any good. Next up is trying to fight The Boss using CQC. (Again, no confidence in my abilitiy to do that either lol)

Devil May Cry 3: Dantes Awakening (ps2)
Finally decided to tackle normal.... Probably a bad idea since it's been so long since I've played this game. While I feel really rusty, I still got it, but I suck at the same time lol. I wanna do the fancy combos, I guess that's why I'm trying this on normal now. I really want to play DMC4 again, but this one will have to do.... (at the very least, I need to get the special edition again so I can play as Vergil) Made it to the 3rd chapter.. Like I said, I suck considering how much damage I've been taking.. Even the weaker monsters are hitting me. I gotta get used to trickster and swordmaster again.

God of War 2 (ps2)
I kind of forgot where I left off.. I think I'm a little bit pass the part where you cross a giant chain (With the 3 horse statues), right after fighting the boss battle. Haven't decided to tackle normal here yet.

Decided to take a break from replaying Wind Waker and Sonic Adventure 2[!] and try to finish a game that I proclaim to be my favorite in the Zelda series: Majora's Mask.

Holy crap, I did not expect to have to be so crazy prepared to take on Ikana Canyon. I mean, I know I had to give the Gibdos in the well a bunch of random items, but I didn't count on some of the more random stuff that they've been asking me. I've been having to backtrack a lot. Then I had to backtrack AGAIN when I realized that I needed to have a Powder Keg to blow a hole in the roof of the Ikana castle or whatever...ugh.

Still, I'm reminded of how much I love it. The atmosphere, the mystery...everything about it is just awesome.

I finally freed the PS2 from my brother's closet! :o
So now I've been taking a break from the hair-pulling FFIV DS and I've been going through my replay of .hack//G.U. Reminisce again. It's been fun, I actually haven't played this game since it first came out three years ago. It's still way too easy, of course, but eh.
I also started Okami, but I haven't left Kamiki village yet, so I still have a lot to go. But it's quite fun; the controls are very easy to use and quite fun at that. I'm looking forward to playing more... eventually. 8D;;

And then next week my family is going camping. I think I'll bring my DS just in case, so maybe Glory of Heracles and FFIV will get some play time again soon enough. Edited by Miss Anonymous

So I finished my "no alert" run for Metal Gear Solid 3. Finally able to obtain stealth camo... Well, I had it on subsistence and that was going the route of shooting the 64 frogs... Now that I've done "no alerts" though, I have to admit that it is definately easier and less tedious than trying to pinpoint them frogs. I also ended up getting the hang of CQC, especially against Volgin and The Boss... If I play on normal I'm pretty much expecting a hard challenge considering I'm not good in this game lol, but I still enjoy it. All that's left to do now is catch that weird snake thingy.

It's definately a great game, but hopefully you don't run into the issue I ran into. Dragginess. Edited by Magus
