Just shows how selfless and stupid this woman was. I mean you have to be very ignorant to leave your kids in the car on a hot day with the windows rolled up. She cared more about herself than her own children. Then telling a lie that someone raped her and killed her children. That b**** should get canned!

That is so sad. Those poor kids. I remember hearing of a similar story but the kids were saved and their mother charged with child neglagence. She really needs to put in jail. I mean, how in hell can you put personal beauty before you own children? That's aggravating! Gives an entire new meaning to the phrase "What's this world coming to?"

I have heard of this happening on more then one occasion. One, for example, this women left her 8 month old baby in the car for 6 hours why she went into acasino and gambled. Obviously the baby died. But this is happening more then you think.

I am also sick with the people who are dumping their newborns into dumpsters and stuff. These people should be shot on the spot. But really thats to quick and painless. I say stick a water hose in their mouth and turn the water on full blast until their stomachs explode.

I wouldn't kill her (that would make me no better -- revenge isn't the answer).

But she deserves to be charged with manslaughter. It is a well known fact that if children are left in a car for any long period of time, they can die from heat and suffocation.

In fact, it has been estimated that if you leave your car's ventilation closed (recycled air conditioning), the oxygen in the car actually starts to run out within fifteen minutes. So leaving a child in a car for hours is incredibly stupid.

Similar things have happened here in Melbourne -- a woman left her baby in a car while she went to gamble all night. When she came to her car in the morning, her baby was dead.

And now, I believe she is in jail...as she should be.

I was just talking to my boss about this incident today, and he told me that this woman is pregnant. Does anyone know if this is true?

It's a shame that such negligent people are able to have children so freely, while people who really want children are unable to have them.

Well, that really can't be helped, can it? Wait...don't answer that. I would like to say that I did some research and this woman is away and she's not pregnant in this case. I might have been looking at the wrong one though...

I was thinking about this today and I started rethinking my opinion a bit. I was thinking about the part where someone said she could've left the kids in the car because they were being really bad or something. she could've just been mad and left them in her car because they might've caused a ruckus in the hairplace or something. I don't think she meant for them to die out there or anything; though it was stupid to leave them out in the car for so long.

as for the part about her lying and saying she didn't kill them, think about it for a second. if you loved your children, you wouldn't want to admit you let them die even to yourself. she lied to the police for the obvious reasons, she didn't want to get in trouble and because she didn't want anybody else to know. then she made up the story about somebody else killing them so she'd be off free, which I strongly think was unexcusable. she should have just admitted to it instead of try to slap it all onto an innocent person.

of course, nobody here actually knows this person though, so nobody really knows what kind of a person she is. I'm assuming she really did love her children and that it really was an accident. it certainly makes more sense than saying she did it all on purpose just to be malicious. I agree she should definitely be punished, and I'm glad she did, she still took two lives and almost put an innocent one in prison, or worse. but I don't think she did all of this just for kicks or something, she was just really stupid throughout the whole thing. also, it's important to remember that the way the media tells ppl about things like this sometimes tends to be very biased and blows things out of proportion. it helps tone things down a little to look at things from a different perspective.

Wow, I agree with your theory. I think she was mad at them, left them in there, and probably forgot they were in there.

The rubbing off guilt thing was, as amibasuki said, unexcusable, though. Whatever conviction I may turn to as people bring out different points, I always always feel that. Just had to say it. :D

I wish I would have got to this topic when it first came out.
All of the things I wanted to say have already been said.

However, I would like to reinterate a question that was asked earlier in this thread.

Now, leaving a baby or small child in a car is absolutely one of the worst things a parent can do. What should someone do when they see a pet in a hot, un-ventilated vehical? Pets have no more resistance to heat, if even less, than children. I know that to some of you a pet dying will not seem to even be on the same tier as a child dying. However, there will be some that feel the same way about a pet as a child. How, if someone does spot an enclosed pet, should they handle it?

it's not one of the worst things a parent can do. like, if she was only gonna take 5 minutes and she left the windows cracked, it'd have been okay to do. she should have brought them in since she knew it would have taken more than 15 minutes anyway though. but anywho....
as for the pet thing, there's not really much you can do. you can't exactly break into the car and say ''Run away, you're free!". the only way you'd be able to do anything was if you knew who owned the car and you found them in the store or something. but as sad as it is, there's not much else you can do about it....

I don't know why we're being so harsh. I mean, she just lost her children to a rapist, for crying out loud!

I'm kidding. What she did was wrong. It was an accident, anyone can see that. But her lying about it is what really pisses me off.

gaw, she did not 'murder' her kids. it was an accident for cripes sake.....I'm assuming it was, anyway.

does anybody have a link to an article about this? or at least know the woman's name so I can look it up on Yahoo! or something? then at least we'd have some facts to go off of instead of just hearsay, and it'd be a lot easier.

The sick, twisted, obsessive side of me that craves justice says lock her in a car with the windows up for a few hours. Not enough to kill her, just enough to make her understand how it felt. Then kill her.

But, that stupid rational side is still in control for now. It says...oh, hey, death penalty. It's pretty rare those two sides agree.

The question is, why shouldn't she go to jail? Not only did she potentially kill her kids, but she lied about it saying that someone else did. Because of her stupid mistake, she is now responsible for the death of her helpless children. If that isn't enough to be put in jail for life without parole, then I don't know what is.

::sigh:: Inexperienced young mothers...

I don't think she should be put in jail for life without parole...

Let's remember that she may not have known that her actions would result in the children's death. It sounds stupid...and most people would know that it is wrong and can result in death, but unfortunately there is no legislating against stupidity/ignorance.

She will have to live with this her whole life...she will have to live with the horrible guilt of killing her own children by accident. I think that's bad enough.

She should be charged with manslaughter, rather than murder.

True James, you have spoken your wise words again, but remember, what she did was very sad. And on top of that, it was stupid. Manslaughter, indeed, but she could have taken her kids to a friends house. Besides, they interviewed her family members and they said that she didn't want any kids at all. That the kids took all her time to hang out with her friends and things like that, that's why I think she knew what she was doing...her trial is Wednesday so I'll post up what happened...

you have a point. she might've just been careless accidentally-on-purpose. like, leaving them out there, thinking 'oh, they'll be fine, but if not, it's not gonna hurt me any.'

it still could've been an accident though. not everybody who doesn't want their kids is gonna try to get them outta the way. I to an extent know this to be true.

some women have kids soley because their husbands or partners practically force it on them. sometimes they wouldn't want children because they wouldn't be able to handle it, physically or emotionally (and in some cases, they wouldn't be able to provide for them). it's very superficial if you don't want kids just because it would cut into your social life...

Well, in the both ways that I look at it, it's still the lady's fault. If she had children with her husband just by being careless, well, it's her fault she was careless. She was being very conceited and stupid because it's her fault that the children are hers, and it doesn't give her the right to leave kids in a black car when it's 80 degrees outside.

And, with the husband forcing her choice, I think woman shood stand up for themselves and not be pushes around like that, and if the man goes as far as rape, then she ca file charges agains't him for that. I guess it's not really her fault, but it's a problem in the world.

Thats all I have to say about that, but I feel very sorry for the children. Hehe, I remember when my mom forced me to go into the supermarket with her because it was too hot outside.
