This is the Backstage thread for the RP The Unseen Rising which is currently in the audition phase. Any questions/comments/criticism/ideas you have just post them here!
Ideas/Extras: Will we have special equipment designed for combating or capturing ghosts and ghouls, likeâ??for lack of a better reference-- the spirit trapper from Ghost Busters? And I also want to make sure I understand this world correctly, as Iâ??m imagining it being in line with the Hellblazer series and the Constantine movieâ??is that correct?
Eh, we're trying to free the ghosts (some of them don't even realize they are dead and actually aren't evil) to allow them to move on as opposed to capturing and imprisoning them like the Ghostbusters do (how inhumane!). The truly evil and demonic spirits we obviously won't want to just set free and we'll have ways of dealing with that but better to think of that when we get there, hehe. I want to make this as realistic as possible (I've explained it as our Earth with a spike in paranormal activity) so all our tech will be pretty average (EMF meters, night-vision cameras, thermal vision cameras, microphones and recorders, etc). CanZ, firstly you'll have to change your appearance picture (Hayley Williams, while she is super sexy I said no well-known celebrities). It's a pet peeve of mine to be reading about someone's character and imagining them in my head as someone I already know from something else. It always takes me out of the story. I don't blame you for trying though, Hayley Williams is smexy. Concerning the powers, I fear a lot of you are missing the scope of the RP I attempted to set out. This is supposed to be as realistic as possible and so are the powers. Imagine our Earth how it is right now, but with a sudden spike in paranormal activity (just evil spirits at the start and eventually demons and monsters) but for the beginning I want things to be fairly mundane just so we can get in the groove of things. We aren't globally known for our work, we're barely even known in North America, but we are one of the first paranormal teams to recognize the spike in activity. For the most part, we've just been dealing with hauntings and so stuff like demons and monsters have yet to make their appearance (the idea is this spike in activity is just the beginning of a huge influx of baddies). For instance, Zachary does not believe in most paranormal things that aren't ghost-related (like the Sasquatch, Werewolves or Vampires) but some of those will definitely appear early on to his surprise. So I just wanted to make that clear to you guys. That being said, the following powers need to be re-worked. CanZ, your power is a sort of GPS system for ghosts and Knuckles' Girl, your power seems to be very similar but not as powerful. I think it'd be cool if CanZ, your power was a long-range thing and Knuckles' was a very short-range power because otherwise they're basically the same. Keep in mind we've also got DeLarge here who can actually see the ghosts and so sensing them in a small area may not seem useful, but if Knuckles' power goes beyond just sensing ghosts than that might work. What do you guys think? I just don't want to have overlapping powers. AS FOR THE PETS, I like the idea of some of us having a pet, but what I thought might be cooler is just having a team pet (i.e. Slimer from Ghostbusters). I was contemplating bringing my character from the other Unseen RP in as a character for everyone to use (click here). He's basically the spirit of a young boy trapped within a Cat. We could even go as far as him splitting his spirit into the bodies of all the pets in our team (someone could have a bird, a ferret, etc) and so we'd essentially have more than one pet, but they'd all be the same character (and they'd be able to talk to us telepathically). I'm just brainstorming at the moment, if you guys just want regular pets that's cool too. Pets will be an open-discussion for now. Some of you may like the idea but others may feel like it doesn't fit with the RP. DISCUSS! Finally, there seems to be a bit of confusion about the actual world this happens in. The idea is (I know I've said this like three times now) that it's our Earth how it is now but with more paranormal activity than normal. Once the RP starts going, I'm going to have a certain event take place and that will really open up the Paranormal Activity for us to play with (it'll become less and less realistic). But the idea is that when all these new paranormal things start flooding in (werewolves, vampires, gargoyles, demons, possessed humans, poltergeists, mummies, etc) we aren't really prepared for it, which is what makes it fun!

Ever since "The Unseen" was launched only to be stopped soon after due to lack of activity on the creator's part, I've been wanting to do a supernatural-esque RP that just follows a Paranormal Research team, one case at a time, and their findings and whatnot. The paranormal activity can range from simple hauntings to aliens, possessions, and even monsters. I want it to be very realistic, but with a few twists. I want each character to have some special talent or power that makes them unique, but I don't want it make the researching/documenting super easy for our characters. The bottom line is we are a group of Paranormal Investigators just trying to find the truth and as we go through some cases a deeper story will unfold. Without further ado, I give you "The Unseen Rising."
July 5th, 2010 My name is Zachary, a paranormal investigator. I've been around the paranormal ever since I was a kid, and for years I made a hobby out of investigating paranormal events. But in the past decade I have noticed a large spike in activity. I started P.I.T. (Paranormal Investigation Team) a few years ago to try and find out what is really going on behind the curtain. What started with just myself and a few friends has blossomed into a team of elite ghost busting, spirit whispering, demon slaying, paranormal researchers. They've become my family as much as my co-workers and with every case we solve I believe we are one step closer to finding out what remains Unseen. ~Zach
Zach was sitting at his dining room table, enjoying reading his newspaper when the phone interrupted his calm. He let out a sigh, the first day of his month vacation from work and his work phone is still ringing. There is no true vacation in this line of work. he thought, picking up the phone. "Yes?" The timid voice of a young lady answered. "I'm so sorry to call you on your first vacation day, Zach but this sounds very urgent." Zach rolled his eyes. "It's okay Gwen that's why you're there. What category?" "Haunting, most likely demonic, maybe a poltergeist." "How many living in the home?" he asked. Poltergeists generally liked to pick on entire families while demons tended to choose one person. "Just one, an elderly lady named Rose, says she has been experiencing growling, scratching and claims to have seen a large shadowy figure one night." Rose paused, but Zach gave no response. "I called her neighbors she checks out. They said she used to be very nice and calm, always saying hello when she walked by but in the past few months they say she's seemed more irritable and depressed." "Sounds like a B Class case, you were right to call me I don't think the rookies working right now could handle it. I'll call the elites, hold tight." Zach went to hang up the phone but Gwen stopped him. "There's one more thing!" she yelped. Zach gulped, there always was one more thing. "She said that when the figure appeared before her he told her to bring him pit. At first she didn't know what it meant but then a week later she saw one of our ads in her paper. P.I.T. Zach! You don't have to do this." she pleaded. Zach clenched his fist. "I have to." he ended the call and opened a new text message. Typing furiously he sent out a message to the Elites in P.I.T. Team! A sudden A-Class case has emerged and needs immediate response by the elites. This is an order not a request! Meet at the Elite HQ ASAP! Bring pizza if you're late! Message Sent As P.I.T. grew over the years Zach realized he had two kinds of researchers in his team. On one hand he had the rookies who were totally dumbfounded by every little supernatural pin drop, and the Elites who, like him, have been doing this their entire lives. Naturally, Zach split the team in two, the Rookies and the Elites. Normally the Elites worked all year long and took a 1-2 month long vacation in the summer where activity was at its slowest. This gave the rookies a chance to do some real cases without danger of getting injured. Their headquarters was not far from Zach's home in downtown Toronto, Canada which is also where Gwen, the secretary stayed. But the Elite headquarters was much further. Thankfully he had an easy way to get there. Zach walked into his bedroom and reached under his bed pulling out a small wooden box. Opening it revealed a bunch of scrolls, various bags filled with salt, ash and other things and a knife. He grabbed the small knife and and slit his thumb letting it bleed out a bit. He drew a circle on the floor with his blood as he chanted. "As my soul is bound to my body it is also bound to my blood." he grabbed the salt and drew a circle around himself. "May no being with intent to harm pass through this circle as I travel." He then took the bag of ash and emptied it out in front of him. "Demons give me passage." as soon as Zach said this the pile of ash caught on fire and then engulfed him and the entire circle of salt. In a split second it was over and all that remained of Zach was smoldering pile of ash, his former body. His soul remained intact however, as it raced through darkness he could feel demons grabbing and clawing at him but being shocked by the salt barrier around his soul. He arrived at his destination and the darkness turned to pure white as Zach was shot out of a similar circle of blood he'd drawn at the Elite Headquarters. As his spirit passed through the circle of blood into the physical realm, his new body formed from a pile of ash that was the remains of an older body. He stood up and stretched his limbs a bit. This method of traveling was convenient, but very dangerous. Once you are out of the physical realm if anything should happen to either piles of ash, circle of salt or blood, you may end up drifting in the spirit world for eternity. Zach shuddered at the thought and waited for the rest of his team to arrive.
Sign-Ups (One Character Only) Name: Age: Gender: Appearance: If you provide a picture you must also write a detailed paragraph describing your character. Do not use a picture of a well-known actor/musician or anime character. Personality: A brief description of your characters personality. How they act around others, alone, in a scary environment, etc. Things that would be helpful for other members to know when they are writing your character in their own post. PIT History: P.I.T. was formed in 2007 by Zach with a few friends he grew up with. If you want to be one of those friends that's cool, if not you probably wouldn't have been there from the beginning so just explain how you heard about P.I.T./how you got involved and maybe even how you became one of the Elites. Powers/Talents: Any powers or talents your character has. Be realistic with the powers, I want this to be as close to real life as possible. First Paranormal Experience: Write about your characters first encounter with the paranormal. Make sure to mention how old they are at the time. Ideas/Extras: If you have an questions about the RP or any ideas/concepts you'd like to see or aren't sure about then just add it here! Name: Zachary Cherub Age: 27 Gender: Male Appearance: Zach is about 6 feet tall, with a slim build and pale white skin. He has long shaggy blonde hair with piercing yellow eyes somewhat covered by his thin black-framed glasses. Usually when dealing with clients he wears a blue or dark purple dress shirt and a black tie, with black dress pants and polished black shoes. He doesn't force his co-workers to dress like this during cases, but he likes to impress. Casually he normally wears a white t-shirt and a brown zip-up hoodie with blue jeans and jet black sneakers. Personality: Zach takes his job very seriously, rarely joking around on a case. He's pretty laid back around HQ but when push comes to shove he'll show no fear in the face of danger for his team. His unrelenting determination and ability to relate on a personal level to each member of his team makes him their good friend, and a great leader. While he doesn't necessarily like anything they encounter, he never allows anyone to kill or banish anything from the Earth as he feels like not all spirits deserve it. This compassionate side of him is balanced by his habit of being quick to temper, an attribute his team has learned of the hard way. Other than that he's very kind to everyone, always being fair and trying to get everyone involved. He is also a bit of a strategist, always planning his next move one step ahead of time. This causes his Rookies to rely on his guidance almost too much within cases, something he hopes to change. PIT History: Zachary is the founder of P.I.T. He has been on almost every case the team has dealt with, including helping the rookies with their minor cases. Powers/Talents: Zach has a real knack for remembering every little detail about every thing he experiences. This basically makes him a walking paranormal encyclopedia. However he has also noticed he can sometimes hear spirits talking in his head during really intense cases. He's never attempted to talk back but he thinks this may be a minor form of Spirit Whispering, something he wants to train and get better at. First Paranormal Experience (subject to change, I don't really like it): Zach has a much darker past than he likes to let on to his team. He discovered the true power of the Paranormal the hard way. Devil worship. When he was in his early years of high school, Zach went through a stage of depression and got heavily involved in Satanism with some of his gothic friends. The first seance he participated in, his friend had attempted to sacrifice a small rat in order to summon a Shadow Demon. Instead his friend was made a sacrifice and the shadow demon appeared before Zachary alone. A cloud of black smoke billowed out of his friends mouth and formed a humanoid shape. As it left his friends body, the corpse caught on fire and burned down to nothing but ash in a matter of seconds. Thank you for releasing me. it said. And the shadow figure left as quickly as he appeared. Zach struggled to close the seance properly finding himself breathless and out of energy after what had conspired. His friends life had been taken by this Shadow Demon, who was now running around doing whatever it pleased, and it was his fault. Needless to say after a month of mourning his friends loss, Zach worked up the courage to research more about the paranormal.
Just borrowed the comic from a friend of mine and began reading it today and it's pretty flippin' awesome, definitely worth a read. I happen to live about 20 minutes away from where most of the comic takes place (Toronto) so I've actually been to a lot of the places mentioned in the comic which is very surreal but neat. There's even a section of the comic where the main character's band lands a gig at a place called "Lee's Palace" which happens to be the very same club my band played our first show at (the exact same place!). That blew my mind. It's a light-hearted comedy-adventure with an iconic main character whom you'll love after reading only the first page. I'm still making my way through it, but if you haven't read it and you love crazy-outlandish adventures with kick ass fighting (and music!) then you'll love this. Yes, there are songs in the comic and the author actually provides chords and lyrics. I can't wait to hear my favourite Canadian bands (Metric! <3) play their versions of the songs for the motion picture. As for the game, it looks like it's staying very true to the comic (from what I've read, anyway). I haven't played a good side-scrolling beat 'em up in a long time and it has left a void in my gamer soul (my friends and I recently dusted off the SNES and are playing Turtles in Time just to fill that void, hehe). Actually, the last good co-op beat 'em up I played was Castle Crashers and it was fairly short (but fun nonetheless with 3 other friends) so I'm confident that no matter how short or poor the game turns out being it'll still be a whack of fun with some friends (but fingers crossed its good). So, I popped in the thread to tell everyone here to read the comic before seeing the movie/playing the game because it's awesome!

Hello my name is Stephen and I'm a WoWaholic. (Hello Stephen) I've been playing WoW on and off for about 5 years but I only started playing end-game content over the past year and a half with the release of WotlK. I started as Alliance as that's what all my friends and their co-workers were but at this point I've got four 80s, 2 Horde and 2 Alliance both on Skullcrusher (US). I think the best name for an OB guild would be <Enter the Net> xD I often find myself bickering and talking in trade chat quite a bit but that's only when I'm sitting in the city waiting for a queue to pop or just standing around figuring out what to do next. I think I've played every class quite a fair bit but my mains are a Protection Warrior, Holy Priest, Feral Tank Druid and a Marskman Hunter. Most of them have dual spec but it's such a pain to gather gear for a second spec and carry it around with you all the time so only my Priest (Holy/Disc) and Hunter (PvE/PvP spec) really make use of it. You play on Earthern Ring! That was the first server I ever played on in WoW a month after the games release. Apparently it's the only solid RP realm left I'd love to make a toon there and RP again. Oh and I've totally met a bunch of people IRL that I initially met on WoW but it's not as creepy as it seems. When I came back to WoW for WotlK my friend was already raiding with a bunch of guys from his work and a bunch of their friends and so my brother, my other friend and I all joined that guild and eventually made it into the end game raid group. After about half a year of raiding later some guys walk into the coffee shop I work at. I had a raid that night at 10:00 which was when I got off work so at about quarter to 10 these guys get up and I overhear one of them say something like "Well we gotta go raid." At first I didn't think anything of it but it was bugging me so when I got off work and got on WoW I asked on Ventrilo (voice chat) if anyone had gone to Tim Hortons (Canadian coffee shop, keep up) just before the raid and it was some of them. lol So I see them a few times a week now at work randomly, haha.

Michael awoke in a panic, he jumped to his feet and looked around him. All he could see were large towering stalks of corn everywhere. What happened...? he thought to himself. Suddenly all of his memories flooded back to him, investigating as a human, dying, spending what seemed like an eternity in the underworld... and now here. Michael looked down at his feet and nearly croaked at what he saw. Two furry black paws. I had forgotten I would need to live like this for a bit... Michael sighed. He had taken the form of a young jet black cat with piercing green eyes. The legendary Black Cat had magical attributes that very few understood (or believed in) but Michael knew their true value. He knew if he attempted to cross over to the living that a Black Cat would be there waiting there to be his vessel. I suppose I'm lucky that a black cat was nearby or else this process may have taken a lot longer. Michael arched his back and stretched his claws. He was licking his paw when heard something in the distance. It sounded like very faint yelling but he couldn't really make it out. Sounds like... he tweaked his ears a bit and lifted his head as the sound grew closer. Barking! Michael leaped to his feet and high tailed it as far away from the barking as he could. He ran so far so fast that before he knew it he was out of the corn field and onto a street. He ran across the road and up to an alley way where he could see some lights on in a building. Michael noticed a girl about to enter the side door and he ran up to try and get in at the same time. Curious, I sense some sort of magic nearby. Maybe I should see what's inside. Just as the girl turned the door handle and opened the door, much to her surprise, Michael dashed into the room in front of her and found himself surrounded by two other men. One leaped up from his chair and pointed at Michael. "A Black Cat! Get it out of here, it's a vessel of the underworld!" he yelled. Michael hissed and ran up onto his chair, then jumped on a dresser nearby. Well you are partly correct I am using this cat as a vessel but I am no servant of the underworld. I escaped through this feline, you see. Michael said, his voice resonated through their minds. "What is your name?" the man with white hair said. Michael. he replied. And I believe we share a common goal. Michael could see the man still did not trust him. Please, I will explain everything to you in due time, all about my time in the Underworld, how I got there and how I got out but there is something I must ask of you first. Michael pleaded. He let out a soft mew. "What is it?" the girl he followed in asked. I spent centuries in the Underworld... I have not eaten real food in over 600 years. Michael's tiny kitten stomach growled softly. I'm very hungry...

This seems like all those horror/mystery TV show characters thrown into one big monster-huntin' howdown! Count me in. I hope you don't mind my crazy idea for a character. Let me know what you think.
Name: Michael Age: Physically 21, Spiritually over 600, 7 in Cat years. Gender: Male Appearance: Character Background: When the barrier between the living and the under worlds began to crack, the spirit of Michael (a 21 year old boy who was killed searching for the truth about paranormal activity... 60 years ago) managed to slip through one of the cracks (as many foul and vicious creatures did) only to find himself a ghost on the other side. Feeling his spirit powers fading in the living world, Michael possessed the body of a young black cat strolling by so his powers would remain intact. When Michael was living, he spent a lot of time investigating strange happenings in his town. His first paranormal experience was that of a haunted house in the forest near his house. He didn't manage to actually see a ghost, but the evidence the ghost provided (blood appearing on the wall as he walked through the hallway, foot steps being heard from above even though there was no upper level) was strong enough to fuel his passion and for 5 years after that, Michael became invested in discovering everything he could about the paranormal. Unfortunately it was his undoing. Investigating rumors of a terrible cave-dwelling monster in the middle of the night by himself, Michael was killed not by the monster but by a lowly bandit who stalked that particular forest for such easy prey. The thief got the best of him with one swift blow the back of the head and before he knew it, Michael awoke in a sea of wailing souls. Talents: Because of Michael's experience in the living world he was able to escape the sea of souls (the lowest tier of the Underworld as Michael sees it) with a few minor tricks and escaped into the 'backyard' of the Underworld if you will. He spent 600 years there (for each year in the living is a century for the dead), learning everything there is to know about the paranormal and the underworld. When he learned of a crack in the barrier, he knew this could be his only shot to get back to the living and so riding the coat tail of an Arch-demon whom he trusted, he made it through in one piece. As he is just a cat now, with very little powers (only the ability to talk telepathically as most ghosts can), Michael has spent his first few days back on Earth searching for someone to help him seal this barrier forever and save the living. Carrying invaluable knowledge of the world below that only one who's been there can know, he is quite the asset to have. In time his spiritual powers will begin manifesting but the cat form he holds is not strong enough to contain such magic and Michael will eventually need to find a new form in order to use stronger magic. For now, he only has his knowledge of the paranormal, the ability to talk telepathically and the uncanny charm of a cat. Personality: Michael is very serious about his work and doesn't like to joke about the end of the world. He'll always have something elderly and wise to say (remember he is technically over 620 years old) and hates to waste time with little things like humor and love. Yes, not living for 600 years can really affect your personality and view of life, but Michael has never lost site of his ultimate goal. "Beridding the world of darkness so that eternal light may shine." Equipment: None.
When I first came here I was eager to participate in RP's but my writing was poor. Over the years I really fine tuned them and even almost won the OB prose contest. I was the first member to ever participate in the OB graphic worm (besides the Mod that started it) back in 2006. Extremely pleased to see it's still going strong! Like I mentioned before I was Event Master for a bit, which I struggled with. Lack of interest in the events and a low population at the time really restricted me from doing the big things I had planned and so I stepped down (not before launching 2 succesful events Mafia and The Big OtakuBoards Anime Event ). What I enjoyed most was just Modding Play It (video game discussion is just what I do best!) and unfortunately I wasn't offered that position back so shortly after I left (Q.Q). Besides that I've appeared in multiple OB fanfics/RPs (see: Dusty DW and the Otaku Kid), started and participated in countless RPs, and have been around long enough to remember the god that was Prick Wizard.
Why:
I grew up on OB. I spent 5 years on this website and you guys became my family whether I know you or not. When I stopped coming here I felt a void that I could just never fill by surfing the other websites. I've never found another forum like this where the post quality is so high and the discussions so intelligent. I missed you guys. T_T
Favourite Things About OB:
Enter the Net Prick Wizard The OB prom (lol) The level of post quality. The number of devoted members who will never truly be gone. I find it quite amazing that for a website (originally) based solely around anime, the forum has held so many non-otaku members. I know when I joined OB I was really into it, but I haven't watched an anime in a good 7 months and yet.. here I am.
Chaos Rising An Elements Story by Adas & Lrb
Prologue Part 1 "What race are you going to make? The Black Elves look pretty cool." Bill asked his friend Nathan. The two teenagers drove down a busy city street one mid summer day. Nathan was a tall, well-built young man with shaggy dirty blonde hair and piercing yellow eyes. His friend Bill was much shorter and paler than Nathan with short jet black hair and hazel eyes. "Well, if you like the Black Elves then I'll make a character from the same area like the Centaur or Toadlings." Nathan replied. The car slowed to a stop and they turned right onto a less busy side street. "It's the tiny white building at the end of this street. I've already pre-ordered both copies for us." Bill said. They pulled up to the curb in front of the shop. The building didn't hide its old age showing cracks around the corners, chipped paint all over and weeds growing between the nooks of the pathway leading to the door. A worn sign hanging from the overhang read Psychic Games in faded purple paint. The two boys got out of the car and walked towards the entrance. "Doesn't this place seem a little sketchy to you?" Nathan asked, stopping to look at the poor yard work. Bill just kept walking and didn't reply so Nathan shrugged and followed behind. As they entered the store it was clear it had been around for a long time. The only games on display were at least 50 years old and there were no TVs, consoles or posters for games save for the one out front for the new Epic Online. Nathan leaned over to Bill. "Maybe we should try another sto-" he was interrupted by the back door swinging open and the store owner walking in loudly. "Oh hello Bill and friend!" the owner was a short old man with tied back gray hair and a sage-like beard. He pulled out two copies of Epic Online from under the counter and placed them on the surface. "These are what you're looking for, yes?" he said. Nathan picked up one of the boxes and looked at the pictures on the back. "It doesn't look as epic as I remember." he grumbled. Bill sighed but the store owner grinned. "You know if this game doesn't appease your appetites there is one other in the back... oh what am I saying it's not even out yet!" the old man nearly croaked as Bill slammed his hands on the counter top. "Show us!" he demanded. The man pivoted and quickly dashed into the back room. The two friends exchanged excited looks and waited. "Are you coming or what?!" the man yelled from the back. The boys stumbled over each other racing to the back room and the moment they entered the dark supplies room they fell to ground their minds completely shutting down. As soon as this happened an abrupt flash of white light signified the arrival of two very important spirits. Two humanoid figures appeared before the old man. One seemed to be made of light while the other absorbed all of the darkness in the room making him pitch black. Neither had faces but their voices boomed loudly and echoed through out the store. "Elemental Psy, on this day you have betrayed myself, Shadow and the entire Elemental Circle of Life." the gold spirit said in a monotone voice. The old man rolled his eyes. "You guys and that stupid circle." the outline of a purple glowing eye appeared above and in between the old mans human eyes. This was the all seeing eye of the elemental spirit Psy. "In the human world we can change things for the benefit of ourselves! We can be Gods among lowlifes!" The two coloured spirits ignored him completely. The dark one continued speaking from where the first left off. "By enslaving future prophesied Elementals of Light and Shadow you have abused the powers your were blessed with the day Earth was created and are forever banned from the Spirit realm. I don't know how you weaseled your way into a human body here but you should know I'm taking this act against the Circle more personal than the others and I will have my revenge." The old man laughed in reply. "You two just don't get it, do you? There's a new Elemental God in town and he's ten times as strong as you're precious Life. You can tell Life that Death is back stronger than ever before and has a personal vendetta against him. And you should meet the one who resurrected him. Chaos is his name." "You fool!" Light yelled showing emotion for the first time. "Chaos is the very evil that is prophesied to be defeated by the Elementals and now you've put that all in jeopardy for your own selfish cause. I pity your pathetic existence, traitor. You will regret the day you betrayed the Circle." With another flash of white light the two elemental spirits were gone leaving the old man alone, laughing quietly to himself.

Prologue Part 2 “Shit,” Matthew cursed under his breath, panting for all he was worth. Sleeping through his alarm, he had rushed to get ready for school, and just narrowly avoided missing the bus. His stomach rumbled, and he sighed regretfully, wishing he had a chance to eat something before he ran out the door. It was a rainy, July day, and the streets of Boston were surprisingly empty for this time of the day. Usually on the bus route, Matthew gazed out the window at the packed streets, sidewalks bustling with businessmen, the walkways nearly bursting at the seams. He sighed – the rain had forced everyone off the streets and into their cars, causing one hell of a traffic jam. Rubbing a hand through his blonde hair, he sighed. Well, if I’m going to be late for school anyways, I might as well get a bite to eat. he thought to himself. Knowing that a McDonalds was just around the corner, he pushed the button beside his seat, indicating that he wanted to get off. The doors opened almost automatically, and he jumped off the trapped bus and into the elements. The rain was fairly light, but misty enough that he knew that if he stayed out in it too long, he would end up drenched. Throwing his backpack over one shoulder, he dashed to the restaurant, his mouth already watering at the thought of a breakfast sandwich. When he got the store however, he was shocked to find the doors closed. “Under renovation?! What the hell!” he cursed, angrily. Rubbing his deep blue eyes with the sleeve of his jacket to get the rain water out, he turned abruptly, but stopped when he heard a man’s voice. ”Spare some change?” “Pardon me?” he asked. He hadn’t seen him at first, but there was a homeless man sitting in an alley beside the closed restaurant. He was wearing tattered clothes, with his grey hair tied back neatly, and long, bushy beard. Normally, Matthew would have searched his wallet for some spare change, but with his stomach rumbling, and the prospect that he would seen be late for school, he was in a bad mood. “No I’m sorry, I don’t have any.” he replied, curtly. “But you were just about to go in and buy yourself food…” the man responded, sounding almost hurt. ”Debit” Matthew replied, starting to grow annoyed. Who the hell does this guy think he is? “I see…” The man said, and stood up. He was short, only coming up to Matthew’s chin, but he seemed strong none the less. “A little bit of kindness wouldn’t kill you, you know…” he said, in an almost silly voice. Suddenly, a wicked look appeared on his face. “This might though….” He began to glow, a purple aura surrounding him. What the hell?! Matthew thought, but he had no time to react. The purple light grew brighter and brighter, until it was all he could see. Then suddenly, things went black.

All around the world the former Elemental Spirit Psy played his mind tricks and forced all the soon to be heroes into the spirit realm where he's assured they'll be taken care of. One by one with a mere thought he teleports them to an entirely different world where humans once lived before they were chosen to inhabit Earth. From the day the Elemental Spirits and the Elemental God Life created Earth every spirit in the entire realm has envied and hated them for it. Unable to escape the Spirit Realm all they could do was watch and loathe the humans. For the first time real humans, the Chosen Elementals no less, have been forced into the Spirit Realm faced with the unbelievable task of getting back to Earth and surviving the journey there.

somebody told me once tho that a newb was a new player that was just learning a game and a n00b is someone who has been playing for long enough but still needs help like a newbe...
Strictly speaking video games, a noob or "newbie" is someone that's either new to the game or is so bad that they seem like they are new to the game. A player that is actually new to the game can still be a noob, but if they aren't stupid (because noob really is meant to be an insult) they're just a lowbie (low level newbie).
-
Although newb could've been considered the "proper" spelling years ago, and everyone knows that the word derives from newbie, nobody says that anymore. Besides "newb" and "newbie" aren't actually words (therefore no proper spelling) either so in choosing "noob" to be a word (if this actually happens) they just used the most popular spelling of the word which is using two O's. Had they given it a few more years it might have been "nub" instead. If this article really upsets someone lulz will be had. It's not like noob is an abbreviation of something (like laugh out loud), it's just an quicker way of saying new or inexperienced player. It's totally legit.

Aaaah nicely done, Anom-nom. You certainly crushed me. >_< I'm glad I was able to make up somewhat for members ditching the event. At least those who passed don't feel like they got a free pass now. :) And a special thanks to Allamorph for his extensive response to our challenge. He wrote with a lot of wisdom and I really learned a lot about my writing from that one post. :animenose Thanks! I'll be sure to vote in the future rounds.

1. Would you rather be a dragon or Superman? I don't really like either of these choices. As a dragon you would be hunted down and imprisoned for experiments or put on display in a zoo by other humans where as Superman just sucks because everyone in the world knows that your weakness is kryptonite. I'll go with Superman because at the very least I can fly to another planet and chill there. 2. Would you rather have no arms or no legs? Easy, no legs. The only thing I use them for is walking, driving and drumming and my arms are more essential to drumming than my legs. Actually now that I think about it I could probably still drum with prostethic legs. 3. Would you rather never be able to listen to music again, or would you rather never have sex again? Music trumps pleasure because music is pleasure. I hear music way more than I have sex (which is... never) so it's an easy choice. 4. Live a long life, but start losing your memory and your ability to do things on your own or live a short life but live it independantly until your death? I'm going to say live a long life. I'd get more accomplished and it sounds to me like you're just describing old age, lol. 5. Have your acts of public drunkeness captured and broadcast on youtube or have your most intimate moments broadcast on Veoh? Public Drunkeness is everywhere and has been seen lots before so it would probably be more ignored than the rarer intimate moments which would probably make their way to YouTube from Veoh. xD 6. Find the most perfect guy/girl ever go on a few dates and find out that he/she is a cousin of yours or become the new Naked Cowboy of Bourbon Street I'd rather find the most perfect girl and find out she was my cousin than become a naked cowboy. It's a no-brainer, actually. A few dates gone bad or forever naked country singing? :/ I'm going to add ONE question. 7. Would you rather meet one OBer of your choice and get the chance to meet them once a year for the rest of your life or meet a different OBer once a year every year for the rest of your life?
