OOC: I deleted my previous post. Talayeh took her time walking through the city, taking in the sights. She'd never been to America before, but it had been easy to stow away on a ship from England to reach one of the few cities she'd heard of, New York. The streets were much dirtier and grayer than the cities she'd found her way into in Europe, and it was hard for Talayeh to resist the urge to constantly wrinkle her nose at the smell. She came upon a small group of people wearing dirty clothes, huddled around a fire. Their eyes were bloodshot and their skin curiously translucent, as if they'd been doing drugs. "Who are you?" one of them snarled. "Nobody important," she said, and then her eyes fell upon some spaghetti in a plastic case, as if somebody had taken it from a restaurant. Her stomach growled and she realized she hadn't eaten in a couple days. "Can I have that spaghetti?" she asked politely. The bums looked at each other and burst out into laughter, a grating sound that echoed through the streets. Talayeh narrowed her eyes and let her mind free. The fire they'd been huddling around suddenly blazed up, twice as high and strong as it had been before. The bums screamed and ran backward; some fell to the ground and were singed by the flames. Talayeh ignored them, stepped forward, and took the spaghetti. Before she could open it, though, she felt something strange in her mind, as if something was happening that she desperately wanted to be a part of. She turned and the bums' fire shrank back to its normal size. She left them shivering in fear on the street, and walked purposefully towards what she had felt.

My summer is also going really quickly ... in that I have a paper due on Wednesday and haven't begun it yet :-P I'm taking summer classes at a college, and they are killer. I'm also working part-time which doesn't help :) But in three weeks, classes and my job will be over and I finally get to kick back, relax, and do whatever I want!
Originally posted by Double_B_Daigo whats up with the pointy fingers?
I'm glad I'm not the only one that's noticed that. (I'm sure there are actually hundreds of people that have noticed that, but oh well.) THEIR HANDS ARE CLAWS, except for a few key characters like Roger Smith and Dorothy. CLAWS, I tell you!!! I really enjoy the show, but once in a while I look at the claws and just get disturbed. Maybe they've improved the drawing in the new episodes ... I can only hope.

Writing How Many of You Have Fanfiction.net Accounts?
terra replied to Brood_Mayran's topic in Creative Works
I have this problem on ff.net that I cannot fix from any computer. Whenever I try to upload an HTML file for my chapters, it gets totally messed up, like will turn into &d;br> or something weird like that. Anyone else get that? I've just been using Word .doc's instead, but it's such a pain because they ignore italics ... -
I'd like to be oekakiotaku's sidekick, if I may :) [edit] Darn, I just realized dmitri_dragoon is also a minion. Well, I'm sure you can use more than one minion! If it's a little crowded I can always bow out :) Name: Christian Marks Powers: Nothing superhuman, but tons of training in karate and other cool fighting things, plenty of guns and practice with them, and the access to a small account of Ms. Folcroft's money for bodyguard expenses :) Weaknesses: A deep, hidden passion for his boss, Ms. Folcroft. This must remain hidden because he knows she only loves her money, and he doesn't want to lose his job. (hehe ... this could be fun.) Descrption: Christian always wears all black, as only befitting to a villain or a villain's sidekick. He usually dresses in suits, but sometimes wears just black jeans and a T-shirt. He has short black hair and is tall and muscular. Bio: Christian is 26 years old and was brought up in a normal family. He started taking karate lessons because he always got beat up in school, and when he finally started piling on muscles he got revenge on his bullies. Since then he's always been able to get his way with his strength. He'd worked at Folcroft Enterprises as a secretary for a couple summers when Lydia's father saw him and asked him to be a bodyguard for his little girl. He's worked for Lydia ever since.

Christian jerked forward on the sand from where he'd been lying. "What happened?" he said wildly. "What I'd miss?" David, standing next to the beast they'd just taken down, snorted. "Everything, as usual," he said. "What's that ... thing?" Christian said, his eyes wide as he stood up. "Oh, that's what hit me. Nice job, guys. Let me take a crack at it." "It's already dead, you fool," David said, but Christian didn't pay attention to him. He was gearing up, his feet planted firmly in the sand. His hands were stretched out in front of him and he was channeling the energy of his body ... CRACK! A jolt of electricity appeared above the monster and shot towards it. It hit the monster square in the head. The monster groaned, a terrible sound that grated in all of their ears, and they all felt that unexplainable wave of clear *evil* wash over them. David and TJ, who'd been standing next to the monster, jumped back in alarm. "Not completely dead then, I guess," Christian said grimly. "He seems pretty much disabled though." "Let's not kill it completely yet," Destiny said, striding forward. "We need to ask it some questions." "About what?" Arika said. "About its master," Christian replied.

I *knew* I should've stayed and watched after the credits ... my friends convinced me there'd be nothing more :-P I just watched the movie "Bend It Like Beckham" and realized that Keira Knightley (sp?) is the blonde in that movie, too. It was really surprising because she plays this incredibly skinny, athletic soccer player who hardly ever wears anything other than gym clothes. At the end I finally realized it was the very same woman who wore a fancy dress throughout most of "Pirates of the Caribbean" ... just thought I'd share.

I have a quick question, any idea of when this is going to start? I take it we're waiting at least until Thursday for Chris to get back.

Christian exhaled, trying to channel out his annoyance as his feet pounded the street towards the beach. "She's always going first, as if we couldn't have just all headed over there together," he muttered. "Now she's probably going to do something foolish like stand out there on the beach just waiting for whatever evil is out there to come attack her." As he neared the beach, he realized with dread that, indeed, Destiny was doing just that. As he ran towards her, she unfolded her hands and reached out towards the sky, as if she were greeting something. Christian ran out onto the sand. Almost too late, he sensed the lightning gathering above them. "Destiny, watch out!" he yelled as a crack of lightning from the storm fell from the sky and sizzled towards her. Using all the powers of his mind, he bent the lightning bolt away from its path and it struck just next to her feet. She turned to him. "Thanks," she said. Then she saw what she'd been waiting for from the sea hit Christian on the head, and he fell into the sand with a soft thud. She stepped forward as if to help him, then realized there were bigger matters at hand and turned to face the monster. The others were just behind. [OOC: I blacked myself out because I'm going to be away this weekend, until Sunday night or so. Just do me a favor and, er, bring me with you, wherever you choose to go next :D?]

"Thanks," Terra said. "Nice swordsmanship. I sure wish I'd brought something from home besides my wits." "That might've been intelligent," Jacen agreed. "Let's get out of here. Kitchens full of knives that come alive just do not seem like a good place to be." Terra glanced back at the girl's reflection and noticed her eyes were turning red. "I'd say," she said, and they ran out of the kitchen and slam the doors shut. "Now what are we going to do?" she asked. "We should search for the others, but how will we find them ..." Her speech drifted off as a female ghost dressed in an ornate ballroom gown drifted towards them. "Someone ... needs your help ..." she whispered. "Caught in a game of cards ... that is really a game of life and death." "Where?" Terra asked. The ghost pointed at a door. Without hesitation, Terra and Jacen opened it and ran inside.

OOC: I didn't sign up, but I'll play if that's okay. Terra's 14 years old, long black hair and brown eyes, wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, and brought from home nothing but her wits ... ------ Terra had run into what looked to be the kitchen of the huge castle and she stopped abruptly. There were several of each appliance: two gigantic refrigerators, four ovens, several microwaves ... and they were all of the same shiny metallic material. There was an island counter in the center of the kitchen. Above it hung a rack displaying knives ... paring knives, butcher knives, regular dinner knives ... Terra looked up. "Knives in a haunted house ..." she said, not wanting to move. "Probably not the best place to be." Suddenly she saw a movement. In the reflection of one of the shiny refrigerators, she could see a little girl, maybe six years old, walking. There was no one in the room but Terra ... The girl's reflection continued walking, from refrigerator to oven to microwave to refrigerator ... She stopped, looked at Terra and smiled. "Let's play," a voice from nowhere said. It was coming from the reflection. Terra's eyes widened and she felt as if she were glued to the floor as she watched the knives in the rack slowly float up and aim for her ...

Hello all, For some reason I've been playing around with anime graphics all day. I found the picture that's right now my avatar somewhere (it's Elie from Groove Adventure Rave), and felt compelled to use it ... which is why I made this banner. edit: matching avatar -- I feel like something is missing ... any ideas? Also, does the idea come across clearly ? Third problem ... it's just too sad for me to use as my banner ... but would still would like your comments :) EDIT: Sorry for the double post ... but nobody commented on the last banner so if I edited it would just be so far back! ... Anyway, here are a couple other banners I've made. Comments? Anyone? :D For Emme888: For Shippo: For fun (unless someone wants it...?): Double posting is never the answer. Even if your post is somewhat far back in the forum, you can do such things as copying your messege and deleteing your post, then remaking the thread with an 'EDIT:'. Thanks. -Syk3

Standing a little back from the crowd, Christian scratched his head. "Evil, huh?" he said. "Well, and I'm just guessing here, but that sounds like it's pretty clearly related to the wave of evil we all felt earlier." "Genius," David said sarcastically. Ignoring him, Christian went on. "Not much of a clue to go on, though," he mused. "But there is the swimming away. Maybe we should head for the beach." Ki pointed out, "It's getting dark already." "Worse, I think storm's coming on," Christian said. "I can feel the lightning gathering, and so on. But we may as well just head out anyway. After all, we can't just sit around in this house forever. David and I would kill each other. If we want to figure anything out, we'd better head for the evil, that's my philosophy." With that, Christian was out the door. He looked back inside, where the others were still huddled around a recovering Arika. "Coming?" he asked.

Yes, Spy Kids 3 has got to be the worst idea on the planet. Spy Kids 1 was all right, in that cutesy, "oh, it's a new idea!" kind of way. Spy Kids 2 was already a bad idea but everybody tolerated it thinking they surely wouldn't venture to make this idea into a trilogy. [sigh] If only we ran the world. I'm pretty curious how they got so many big names in Spy Kids 3, though. I mean, you'd think the stars would run away screaming. Poor Antonio Banderas ...

I would love to judge literature ... but you probably don't know me very well since I'm so new. But I'm an English major in college :D (just trying to convince you to let me judge!). Of course it's your decision. Somehow this seems RPG-ish ...

So is there a fan base for this anime on these boards at all? Personally, I really like it, but I sort of feel like it's my weakness :P. I mean, sometimes when I watch it I just think, "This is so BAD! ... yet so good." The action is pretty horrible, they reuse animation relatively frequently, and the four (/eight) hot guys are obviously just drawn for girls ... and yet I see all these flaws and still love it :) Anybody else feel the same way?

Wow, there's some really great stuff in here. I really like how crisp and clean all your banners and avatars seem (probably helped out by your frequent grid effect :)). Nice! I like the Rave banner (on the first page) a lot except that he seems sort of ... insanely evil ... or is it just me? He's got that maniacal twinkle in his eye ...

Writing How Many of You Have Fanfiction.net Accounts?
terra replied to Brood_Mayran's topic in Creative Works
I have one as "terra dewrim." From which spawned the name terra for this account, by the way. I only have one fiction right now and it's a Rydia/Edge from FFII (or IV) thing. Actually that's the only reason I signed up at fanfiction.net ;) but maybe I'll put up some other fanfic later ... -
Once you guys have figured everything out ... ;) Name:Maya Age:13 Weapon: Staff,Bow and Arrows Description: Dark brown hair parted down the middle and plaited on each side with a blue ribbon tied on the end of each one, blue eyes and a blue tunic Bio: see Ohkami's story I'd like to apply to be Maya or one of Hiro's flunkies ... what character I'd apply for will have to wait until he determines them :) I think I could be a good Maya because I could be good at being the supposedly-annoying-but-turns-out-to-be-really-helpful apprentice. Also, I've written some fanfiction (not that any of you have read it, most probably ... but I've written it!) about other girls who use bows and arrows, so it would be fun :) Of course, since like three people have applied to be Maya so far, I wouldn't mind being a bad guy either ... I'll edit this post as more things get straightened out.

Christian walked up to where the others were and cleared his throat. "Hm, Destiny, I'm sure the fall off the cliff was painful and everything, but I think I'm actually the oldest here," he said. Her glare would've frozen boiling water. Christian cleared his throat again, trying to hide his discomfort, and broke eye contact with her. "So, anyway," he said. "What are we going to do? You guys are the computer geeks, right?" he said to Ki and David. "Did you figure out what happened?" "You know, you're more of a jerk than I thought you were originally," David commented. "Besides, we were trying to figure things out when we got this urgent call telling us to come here ASAP." "Right," Christian said. "Great. Now what are we going to do?" Ki smiled and pulled something out of her bag. "Don't worry," she said. "I brought my laptop. I'm sure we can figure out something while we're here and we wait for the others."

I also agree that the text is a bit fast. The text is also a bit ... long. It takes quite a while to get through it all. BUT it's a really creative idea (in that rip-off-y way). :) Cute.
-
I love the pictures of Legolas for #2. But I agree with Desbreko that it's a little cluttered, and I think it's from having him and the text in the same place. Maybe you could flip him so that he and his arrow take up the right side of the banner, and the text is on the left? #2 is still my favorite though.

I think the background is nice -- don't hate pink, it matches! :) But I think the "Sheik" text and the background-color box around it are a little jarring and don't quite seem to fit.

Hm, I didn't think Johnny Depp was that hot in it. I was hoping for more because I loved him in Chocolat. (... I cannot stress how hot he was in Chocolat.) Anyway, he didn't do it for me in Pirates. I mean, his awesome swordsmanship and cool attitude were appealing, but the excessive eye makeup (although very good for his character) kind of bothered me.

I play the guitar, although I didn't bother bringing it to where I'm living for the summer so it would pain my fingers if I picked it up now :). I like it mostly because I never had to take lessons for it, and it was my own pet project. I'd just pick it up and find some tabs online, so it was just a fun project for me. But I can only play like two songs by memory ...
