1. ooooooh nostalgia indeed. Infact I was so young then I was more fond of watching than actually playing. Due to that minor age problem I remember the nintendo that got me into gaming.. we had a huge box of games, most of the corrupt from age now though... I can hardly even remember the names... There was that game, where you hit your enemies with a hammer and you could make them fly around the screen. It reminds me of santa gone wild. As for games I can remember, it would have to be from the SNES: Super Mario Kart, I've even dreamt about playing that game XD I loved playing that, and how easy it was to beat the computer once you knew the exact way of taking on the course. Now, I remember after the N64 version came out and I thought nostalgically to myself that I'd play the SNES version again. Bad bad bad idea, yet enlightening. I found it so difficult to play because the game play was so inflexible. Contra Spirits, that is an absolutely classic game. I always found the 'yell' the guy makes when he dies, funny. Both of 'em were good ones. Sonic Wings, another really good two player game. I liked how because of the programming in those days, the game would slow down when there was heaps of stuff being launched at you. Which just made it easier to get through the level. Yea, that's about it. I rarely played single player games, mainly because I enjoyed watching my brother play instead.
2.
The word "nerd" can be really hurtful to those who hear it on a daily basis. In fact, because of steriotypes such as this one that are pressed on the fragile mind, some people develop serious mental problems and that can lead to suicide or murder. So really, names can[/I'] hurt you. Anyway, "nerd" is just a state of mind, but if pressed on someone for a long time, it can really affect them. It's a serious matter.
What doesn't kill you will make you stronger. It's a fact of life and it builds character. A way of looking at it is that you know you're smarter than them so clearly their insults should hold no meaning. I'm not saying that I walk around calling people nerds because I think they need to develop other skills opposed to their academics. If they don't want to be a nerd anymore, fine, social etiquette allows them to change that image.. they can dress like everyone else (therefore blending into the crowd) and be the anonymous person that knows everything. Besides, they weren't talking about calling people nerds, just the general criteria that would make people want to call each other nerds. People will be labelled their entire lives. After they leave school and get a job they will be labelled with something. After they retire and if they end up in a resthome with a bunch of other old people, they will be labelled accordingly. Anyway, I use to get labelled nerd.. back when I had braces, thick large glasses, short and scrawny, less than 5 friends and socially inept at playing any part other than the shy act.. not to mention really academically sound. I didn't like that so now I wear contacts, I don't have braces anymore and I've got a nice hair cut and I'm working on my wardrobe. The downside is that I'm a superficial little twit that is slacking academically making me very very stupid indeed. But that's okay. I don't get called nerd anymore, just 'cute' and 'nice' since that's what makes people do a variety of things for me.
3. Ahahaha!! Look at all the geeks!! *points and laughs some more* ... So, that was kinda unneccessary but where I'm from, or rather, the people that hang around me.. playing an instrument, especially the piano/violin is completely normal especially because a majority of my friends are Asian. Yes, that is a generalization but it's a very factual one. Anyway, playing the piano certainly isn't uncool.. I have serenaded a many cute guys with it very successfullly ^_~ One group of my friends think it's cool to be able to dance. The other group don't think it's cool, and think it's cooler to karaoke. However the one thing that both groups seem to agree with and look at me funny for, is being entertained by pokemon. Yet they still like anime, just not pokemon. Nah, nothing is really that uncool... No I remember what my friends thought was uncool, not to mention I was so offended when one of them laughed!! I use to do Tai Chi. And that girl laughed at me -__-"" Aside from that I'm a totally cool person and no one will convince me otherwise ;_;
4.
Like 3 A- and a B-. So...aside from calling oneself a moron, is there a way to break this gently to your highly expectant parents? (aka asian parents ;) ) Or...is there a way to survive this catastrophic event with the least amount of injuries as possible? Thoughts, comments, and similar experiences would be highly appreciated.
Well, I'm sure I can assume that those marks aren't really actually that bad. Although I suppose it would be in relation to what you normally get. There isn't an easy way to break it to parents with high-expectations aside from gritting your teeth, tell them and take whatever is thrown at you. Or me being the manipulative one would probably cry and say something like "OMG I got a B-, I'm such a failure... I wanna die!!! I'm so sorry I'm such a failure!! Wah!!!" The key here being, you're already upset and they'll think you've punished yourself enough.. hopefully. Or you could throw a spazz at them and very quietly (yes, a quiet.. contained furious spazz) tell you understand they want you to suceed. But (quietly) if the more pressure you put on something, the more likely it is to break. Or hide the results if possible. Er.. fortunately my parents don't really ask anything of me, strangely enough being Asian 'n' all they're very liberal about my choices being, my choices. My failures being my failures and not theirs to criticize. They're more likely to poke me and say "tch, I guess it just isn't your strong point." If you know how they'll take it and you think you can take it. Just tell them. It's not a horrible 'failure' as I see it, it will blow over after you've told them and you can get back to your stressful ways.
5. *looks up to previous post* yup.. Yea, the ideal situation would be that one has a career that pays really well that one also enjoys. However since sooner or later I might have to choose.. I choose money. One of the greatest, perpetual stresses in life is money. Right now my family is stressed out because dad can't make enough money to support us all, my brother is completely off his rocker and refuses to get a job based on the fact that he has to enjoy it (he's effin 22) and my mum already works as well. Say, remove the issue of finances despite a less than fun job. You then will have the luxury of spending your money to do things you enjoy in your spare time. For me, I wouldn't have to make the decision to stop paying for lessons for either my piano or violin just to save my parents the extra hundred so dollars. I don't enjoy school, but if I could get off school and look forward to martial arts lessons then I'd feel better about everything because excercise make people happy. I really find it difficult to believe when they say money can't buy happiness. They're just buying the wrong damn things. Although kudos to those who can be happy without much.
6. Here's me jumping on the bandwagon, because somebody might be interested to know since I actually skimmed through all 4 pages of this. Triple H: *sigh* not because I'm some big mean oily muscly guy that's a cheating jerk that enjoys wrestling. I'm actually a small girl that finds wrestling boring, isn't trying to look shiney and is about to tell you that it has nothing to do with the wrestler. It is infact it's my initials. I'm not alone though, my older brother shares the same initials H.H.H Young Hong: Well, my badminton coach would call me that since my brother was always called Hong. Darn him for sharing 2/3rds of my name. lol. Bro!!!: Hmm, see in my current group of friends the 'Retarded Family' (really weird stuff) I'm a brother to one of the more central persons to the group. So she always calls me 'bro' and most of the rest of the 'family' call me that, even though I might really be their 'Uncle' or 'Son' or 'Dad'. Also, if that confuses you, we're all really just a bunch of girls IRL. Mew: Somewhere between my obsession for pokemon and trying to decide on a screen name for counter-strike. Only my brothers friends call me that either because they don't know my real name, or they can't figure out the difference between my name and my brother's name or because it's just easier. Probably a bit of everything. I quite like it though. Muffins: Ah.. I like that one :P it's really a secret to my friends why I had that screen name for msn for ages. Although the guy who gave it to me knows it well, who happens to be the sweetest guy and I love him to bits. It rose into existence when I was boasting my awesome chocolate muffin baking skills. Moi Juu: (pronounced literally without that silly Frenchness :P) roughly translated from Chinese it basically means 'little sister "pig" '. It's one of those common terms of endearment that my family called me by. Then when I was about 6yrs old I had major spazzes about it because I suddenly decided to take offence to being called pig. They still occassionally call me that, but I don't really mind anymore.. eh I say, eh. ... Those are the ones that have actually stuck around, all the rest are history ^_~
7. Well, at least I can make this short and just say I'm purely Hong Kongnese or however you say it :P My mum did tell me which part of China my ancestors were from but I can't quite remember.... Seriously, I'm Chinese but just about every Chinese will have a problem being grouped into being from China. For goodness sakes, I'm from Hong Kong not China, that's completely different XD Although culture wise I'm lost. Even though I've been in New Zealand since I was 8 months old and I've experience little of the kiwi culture, yet I never got involved with much Chinese either. How I managed that is a mystery. Good thing I can speak Cantonese, a smidgen of Mandarin but I can not read nor write ^^" EDIT: Just a bit more on the HK vs China, apparently people from China look different to people from HK. Supposedly people from HK are better looking. But that could be because the adults I know are slightly prejudice.
8. eurgh.. yes it is rather disturbing and quite disgusting in fact to think that children that young are already so involved with sex in several forms. Of course, it's one thing to know that things like that are going on. However it's always the greatest shock to witness it first hand. Fortunately I have never heard, first hand, (these 'children' as we can so eloquently describe them) them talk about who've they've done/going to do/how they're going to do it etc. etc. The worst I've seen is a 13 yr old that is nowhere near puberty at the moment upset because some guy breaks up with her after one weekend. Weird stuff. The Playboy Bunny logo is commonplace as other people have said. I can go into any number of shops at the mall and see the infamous bunny on jewellery, wallets, clothing, bras and anything else you could probably stick it on. eh. Although, "old"? C'mon... never... I just feel like a prude :p
9.
I look for the same type that Heero Darkangle looks for, the exact oppiste. Im not cold hearted just really depressed. So someone who could chear me up, and someone who understands me. I say that because I have a hard tiime expressing myself. The only two things that do expresse me well are my art (best way) and my stories (second best.) Someone who understands that there is no such thing as normal. I dont know why I bother though, I know that I dont got a chance at having a girlfriend. :(
If you think you don't have the chance then you won't have one. It's called self-realization. You just sabotage yourself unneccessarily. Secondly I wasn't actually going to reply but then I kept reading about these rather unhappy guys who depend on their loving gf to make them happy. I don't want to offend you but I found it irksome. I had a bf that was a depressed guy. I really did try to make him happy but it effin annoyed me soooo much. I really did try for 6 months and was dropped like a rancid potato for the "hot chicks" at uni *grumble* (he's not what most people would call good looking either). Seriously, I had just wished he'd grow the proverbial backbone and try to be happy for his own sake and stop dragging me down. Being with him taught me what true depression was, and I found it so infective it was life changing. Yet in a way I loved and hated him for all he was. I really did understand the reasons to be unhappy but I couldn't for the love of life understand the reasons, why not to be happy. Maybe he was just clingy, I'm not sure... he just needed constant attention.. everyday.. although one occassion that stuck out was New Years last year which we had spent most of the night happily talking together until almost midnight then he had to go. I happily text him "happy New Years" and he unhappily texts back that he's depressed and the New Years sucked. Gee.. thanks. Made me feel real good about myself. It was the stupidest, most dysfunctional relationship ever.. I'd rather he was physically/verbally abusive, at least I could deal with that and get someone to kick his head in. Seriously, how on earth do you kick someone's head in for being unhappy when they aren't in contact with you? I feel like it was more of a form of emotional abuse.. hmm.. Anyway, I just wanted to get that out because.. guys.. it's so much easier for girls to be around you if you make the concerted effort to be happy and stay happy. Don't be like the guy I just mentioned, I do hope his next gf does make him truly happy though. --- Onto the next point while I have the time. Shugo54, you're being a tad bit paranoid. Girls will 99% of the time giggle at a guy because he's cute and they like what they see. As for the other 1% it might be because he has a mullet XD I don't think I'm hot enough to be followed around a mall though.. enough to get a look down to 'admire' the floor (at my legs) then back up to where my face is supposedly. Main reason I rarely wear skirts. The dreamy eye is surely because they hope you'll ask them out, and yes at the sametime their friends probably encouraged them to "go for it! He's so CUTE!! Try get him to notice you *giggle*". It's a good thing you don't fall for it though. Those kind of girls aren't really that mature at all. They're boy-crazy for all the wrong reasons, because they think the guy is good-looking they automatically assume he's the guy they want at the moment to stick with trends. That and they have no personal pride. They're the kind of girls that are into what psychologist describe as 'puppy love' and have layers and layers of pictures of good-looking celebrity males glued to everything possible and are prone to developing a new crush every other week. It scares me, and I know these things because I grew up as a female along side with such females. It scares me to no end.
10. ^_^ I sat here for awhile try to think of something intelligent to say in reference to you chapters. I can't really.. it just puts a smile on my face to read them.
11. Hmm, aside from me and one other person, I think everybody I know at my school receives tuition for something. Although many of them don't do any extra-curricular acitivities which isn't a good thing either. It's difficult, some people do respond to tuition though and it's of genuine use to them. Others as I've noted don't seem to do any better with it. I've never ever had tuition for school subjects but then, my parents don't ever pressure me to do anything school-wise. I suppose it works out, but when teachers put me under pressure I crack like a piece of balsa wood ~_~ All parents want their children to succeed. Some want to be more proactive about it. By saying it's a "cop-out" is a very cynical way of looking at it. The student should want to do well, so that they themselves can get a good job with money and be proud of themselves. So it isn't completely unfair of the parent to say "I want what's best for you."
12. mmmm... guys.. lots of them to choose from.. These threads are quite fun, however I or should I say, my friend figured out the foundation on which I seem to be attracted in a guy. Witty and fairly intelligent, but is prone to doing stupid things. Famous example of this would be Charlie Sheen in Spin City. Physically I don't mind scrawny but I prefer some muscle, nothing really beefy or defined. As for the rest of the looks, that really falls onto a preference that's different for everybody. This all just reminds me of a cute drunk guy I met on New Years who is actually academically intelligent and witty, but also an egomaniac. Darn I find that ego so charming. I like how they can exasperate me like that. Oh, and just plain sexual attraction, that can not be faked ;)
13. ... My reaction? I suddenly worried about the one guy I know that lives in Malaysia, then the other guy I knew, then some other two which are friends of theirs 0__o Which lead me to wondering how I got to know so many people in Malaysia. Luckily they're fine since they live in Borneo which was shielded by West Malaysia. Although one was in Thailand when the earthquake hit. Of course someone had to add to that by telling me a friend was vacationing in Sri Lanka, thankfullly I found out that same day that she's fine. *sigh* They're all fine. The entire situation is really quite unreal.
14. I feel so.. stupid. I was one of those kids who actually tried to believe in santa. XD For some reason I couldn't seem to, not that anyone told me otherwise. Aside from the other kids that were/are still naive enough to believe in his existence. We never even had a tree to put presents underneath, except for one year where I kept asking for one. Eh.. my Christmas spirit only really extends as far as playing Christmas carols on the piano and wishing people "Merry Christmas and what-not". Funny thing though, my teacher has a 5 year old who said that santa can leave the presents outside on the doorstep. He didn't fancy some fat jolly stranger breaking and entering to give him his presents. HAHAHA!! I also tried to believe in the tooth fairy as well, that didn't work out. So, Merry Christmas, happy holidays, seasons greetings and what-not y'all ^_^
15. *looks wide-eyed at everyone else's list* Well, makes me almost wish my family was more Christmas orientated. I did get some gifts, but none were wrapped nor were they brand new and I think the timing of recieving 'said' gifts was purely coincidental. I have a second hand computer, which has yet to be reformatted meanwhile my brother has taken advantage and has nicked off with it and is playing Vietnam on it until further notice. :grumble: I also got some "man-jewellery". I'm not a man  'tis the season to be jolly.
16. Very funny piece of work. James' mode of travelling was really too good. I never knew he could dance so well! Actually to be quite honest, I think Syk3 did look better when he was older than as a baby. Eurgh, I probably would've laughed more, but I partied to much last night and didn't feel much like spilling my guts over it : P I hope you get HJSC up again, I'd like to see what I'm missing. Cheers for this extraoridinarily funny Christmas gift you sexay beast ^_~
17.
I live in the middle of nowhere. A little desert wasteland called Las Vegas, Nevada[/I']. Surprisingly, it's freezing here come winter. We even had snow awhile back. It was pretty amazing, truly a sight to behold. Snow in Vegas, now I've seen everything. :D
: O I think I'm almost envious. I've always wanted to go there, however maybe when I'm older and more able to enjoy the entire concept of it of being an 'adults playground' :3 I'm in New Zealand, Auckland. Biggest city in the country and after a few road trips I've been on around the rest of the North Island, it really is much more interesting than most of the rest of the country. Shockingly enough, even though it's in the middle of summer we've been getting thunderstorms, hail and summery sun all in one day. I really can't stand NZ weather sometimes, it's so unpredictable making it almost impossible to plan for weather-dependent outtings ie. beach days -__-" Funny thing is that if my brother (when he was 5yrs old) hadn't decided he liked the picture of sheep better, I would've grown up in Canada, Toronto EDIT: I can't vote on the poll, NZ isn't a part of Australia just because it's next to it.
18.
You should see what happens when I drive the speed limit or, god forbid, two or three under. I?ve had people blow past me, honking their horn and swearing. It?s pretty nasty out there sometimes. Solution: Make everyone else use public transportation?
ehehe.. I know what you mean. However I'm still learning to drive so I've got these big yellow and black 'L' plates on my car and always stick to the speed limit (obviously). Supposedly the more experienced drivers are meant to be more lenient on learner drivers (obviously not). All throughout my driving lessons I'm being tail-gated, then the tail-gater gets tail-gated etc. etc. til there's about 6 cars behind me all tail-gating each other, at the speed limit for goodness sakes people!! I'm trying to learn to drive and some people will take the chance and suddenly speed past me to over-take, which tends to give my poor little heart a fright making me want to swerve my car off the side of the road, run over a few pedestrians to avoid a collision with rudely over-taking car. Even worse when some of them beep : ( I do take public transport where possible, which isn't very. The public transport system has just been so poorly implemented in NZ it's so much simpler just to drive.
19. : O Ahahaha!! That was soo cruel, I mean, the part about having so many womenses pawing all over DW and then leave him hanging just when it gets started X^D I also like how you used an excerpt from his actual post. I'm confused though, I've asked him twice about attending and once was a yes, the other was a no.. sniff, I hope you guys trapped him with gay porno sites >: | I hope you get some realy inspirational ideas for the future chapters ^_~
20.
Over here, you don't get a car until you are on your Restricted license. This is basically a full license with a curfew.
However you forgot to mention that with only a restricted license you can not carry passengers, unless you are being supervised by a current full-license holder who has had said full-license for more than two years. I do believe it is fair for drivers to prove that they are capable of driving safely. It's almost like riding a bike, you start off on trainer wheels until you're confident and have enough control to ride it without being a severe threat to yourself or others. Indeed accidents do happen, however the restrictions on new drivers only really help to promote safer driving practices so in the long-term it should hopefully reduct the number of potential accidents :3
21. Eh hehe, I scored lower than the last time when I did one earlier this year : / I feel smart, 110. I feel cranky they gave so many math questions, I severly dislike math questions. However:
Factors that may have adversely affected your score include lack of sleep and/or physical, mental, or emotional distractions.
I'm watching a movie, and it's waay past midnight. Perhaps bed is in order. I agree with Freude though, I keep getting different score in different sites.
22. To be honest I wouldn't mind some watermelon flavoured gum either. Where do you come up with these random ideas? I don't really know what I'm thinking, maybe how I keep sensing how tense my dad is when I'm driving which makes me slightly unnerved and makes me wish he'd relax. I was thinking how sick I am of seeing my exbf wherever I go. Dude, I've seen him more times than any of my friends individually 0_o" WHY?? Oh.. and how nice my hair is today, or how nice it really is everyday. It's so long and soft and knotless and brown and.. *sigh* Too bad the conditioner doesn't smell nice. Lastly, I just re-read my first Christmas card.. what does she mean "I got so angry when I heard people badly dissing you!" People dis me? They don't like me? Who? What? Why? I must find out to whom I cause such torture so I can continue doing so!! >: D
23. Ha! Now I'm officially cool because I'm just posting here like everyone else is XD *cough* so, I only turned 17 about two months ago and just from being on these boards I am definitely sure that age does not equal maturity. I seriously can almost never tell how old someone is on these boards by the way they type. It's a lovely place. I suppose I would've joined a few years earlier but I was still rather 'green' at the time and found this place intimidating. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of anime, I like it and watch it occassionally but not so much that you could hold an intelligent discussion with me about it. Aside from pokemon but that's.. completely beside the point. Oh Baron, you made a funny. lol. (btw, I just figured out where you got your name from, I'm so slow!)
24.
We're so awesome that defeating each other would be some kind of rediculous joke.
Ridiculous is spelt with an "i" silly. The depiction of the plan to take down DW was really quite brilliant. This chapter is wicked, I liked it.. heaps. And well, Chaos is just.. perverted : P
25. Ah, I assume this will be continued..? Right. I really don't know who I should root for though. Desbreko with his awesome nad kicking boot or the poor beaten down Shinmaru. eh.. I'll go for Shin, no one deserves to be rendered impotent. That's just mean.
