Thanks for the comments, all! :) *banner as gif attached* Puck is the trickster fae character from Shakespeare's play (Midsummer's), but also a minor character from Disney's 90s show, Gargoyles. Both he and Owen (the stiff guy in the suit) are fascinating characters to me, and I'm hoping that Disney will release those promised DVDs soon. As for the Latin, it's quite mangled (I never took Latin, so I dunno how to conjugate), but the rough meaning is: "Solemnness stifles* what should be free**." *stifles/represses/hides **free/light/liberated

I dunno if this has to do with the Liquid Skin either, but for some reason, the Digimon forum keeps loading "wrong". As in, the topics that I just replied in will not be moved to the top, nor will it say I just posted in them. A Refresh usually fixed this, but it is annoying, nonetheless. It's been a long time since I last had this problem (back in v3 or v4), so that's why I wonder if it is the LS.

Indeed it is 12 (see attached). Your turn.

The only thing I really missed in Cross was the lack of character development. At the time it came out, the world was still caught up in Pokémon and the like, and the more characters you had to find/"raise", the better the game was. That was the trend, anyway. As a result, Double/Triple Techs were few and far between. Which is a shame, for that was one of my favorite parts of Trigger. *loves Antipode 3* Cross tells a smidgen of a continuation story to Trigger. Not much, though, and several of the main characters got left out. Though one of the minor storylines in Trigger was resolved in a MAJOR way in Cross. And that is all I will say of it. :X ~EDIT~ Got a new tidbit of info on ChronoBreak: it is supposed to be released April 1, 2003. Released where, I didn't gather, but there's this. Rumors are ranging anywhere from
Crono and Marle's son
running around to
Magus
being a major character in this sequel. Nothing is confirmed at all, naturally.

Well, I've been doing some scouting around, and there are some new games coming to the PS2 in a week or so. "Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter" is one, "Dark Cloud 2" is the other. I have never played any of the BoF series , so I dunno whether to pick this one up. DC2 is a sequel to the ok DC, but from what I've been reading, DC2 should pick up where DC dropped the ball. Thoughts? Comments? Other new games to add?

Nope and nope. It IS a two digit number, though. Tell ya what, I'll let three more people try, then give the answer. :)

Willow was on the move again. She had left the trio from the village in the small cave she had had for a temporary home. Six months wasn't long enough to form any real attachment to it, though, so she had no qualms about leaving it. As for the people...well, they could deal. With any kind of luck, they would have the sense to stay put until things smoothed over. If they were going to smooth over. She gently prodded the Lotoewian soldier in front of her, making sure that he was walking back toward the village. Even if the trio were upset with her sudden disappearance, they would be relieved that he was gone. He was still lost in her manipulation ability; as such, he wasn't tied up, for he wasn't any real danger to her. On the outskirts of the village, Willow paused, then rested one hand against her forehead, and the other against the soldier's. "Manipulation." Willow's garb instantly changed into a copy of the soldier's: a drab grey gold color, with sharp green stripes marking her suit; a metallic helmet covering her head (and ears), leaving enough space for her face, of which the eyes were covered by a reflective glass, so no one could see them; her long silvery hair was swept up into a high tail now, held there by a grey gold clasp; she patted her left arm for her shuriken guard, which still held the star shaped objects; her dagger rested in its right thigh hilt. A small amount of names formed in her mind as well--names of the other soldiers and a few of the captain's. But nothing of what Lotoew was doing here on Exocisyt. Willow frowned; she should have snagged the other soldier last night. Not that it would have gone over well with the village trio. Willow sighed mentally and inserted her name as a fellow soldier into the soldier's mind, then released him from her manipulation ability. The soldier shook his head, then gazed at her. "Willow? I had the oddest dream..." Willow raised a bemused eyebrow at him, his name floating into her newly formed memory. "We aren't paid to dream, Cellyus. Just to fight." Cellyus thought this over for a minute, then nodded. "Not to think, either. I wish I really knew what was going on between Lotoew and Exocisyt. There doesn't seem to be any reason to attack them." He blew a sigh and shouldered his gun. Willow readjusted her dagger hilt and followed him to the village. She was hoping that, even if Cellyus didn't know anything, she could get some answers.

I have the same problem as you. I just can't seem to initiate a conversation with most people, just my few closest comrades. And for me, it is a barrier that keeps me from getting to know others and have them know me better.

*pulls a fancy medallion on a chain out and waves it in from of Adam* You will not change the naaaaaaaaaame, you will not change the naaaaaaaaame. And if that doesn't work, don't change it. Nostalgia indeed. Plus, it's just plain easy to remember. As for the connotations--well, I was never one to be bothered with them. ;)

Nebraska? Where's that? oO; Ok, seriously...hee hee hee...ahem, again, seriously, yeah, I get the same thing for being a Texan. People automatically assume that since I'm from Texas, I wrestle with cattle, wear a 10 gallon hat, and have less sense than the squirrel that crossed a major freeway. Wrong on all accounts. Top 5% of my class. Heck, I get bored in college classes, 'cause I feel like I'm not being challenged enough. If I could afford it, I'd go to real college. Cows may be free-ranged out here, but so? There are no cattle skulls or deserts around here. It's DFW, and the smaller suburbs. And I'd rather be dead than be caught wearing a 10 gallon hat. Though I've seen regular sized cowboy hats a few times on some of those out of staters that drive big trucks around. Yes, Texans love pickups. ('Cept for me, but nya! :p)

I've never been much of a fan of random generated dungeon games. =\ It seems like each one I come across tends to...pffft. Yeah. Further installments? As in, spend more money? *whimper* At least the main character Kite looks a lot more awake then some of the .hack banners and avies I've seen floating around here on the Boards. :p

Hidden features within old school cartoons....

In a less offensive sense, Gargoyles was heavy on the symoblism and appealing to older audiences. I could give pages and pages, but for the most part, there were a lot of Biblical and Shakespearean (sp) references. Brooklyn: Who is this Macbeth anyway? Lexington: Uh, the name sounds familiar. Wait, I remember. Goliath was talking about a play called Macbeth by some new writer named Shakespeare. Sure, funny, but it takes older watchers to catch the joke there. Another episode was entitled "Metamorphasis", and when I first saw that, I thought, "OK, people being turned into animals. Gotcha." On base level, yes. However, a deeper level referenced it to the short story Metamorphasis by Kafka, but with a happier ending. The fact that the main character is called Goliath, and is a whopping giant of a muscled monster (not to mention a gargoyle), just screams Bible reference. I caught on right away, since I did a lot of Sunday schoolin', but I was surprised when I had to explain the significance to my friends. And on and on. :whoops: -
If someone got shot near me while I was at a gas station, I'd probably faint dead away from fright. Then the sniper'd be able to pick me off real[i/] easy. As far as helping goes, it is all a matter of instinct. A police officer is more likely to stop and help the shot person, and a common citizen is more likely to bolt in the well known "fight or flight" tendency. I need to see the footage myself before I can make any real comment on the situation. And has something like this happened before--it sounds awfully familiar.

Huh, interesting. I do remember a few years back, one of my friends told me about how there was a part about a priest that was sexually abusing his acolytes, or something like that, in this game. Most likely I'll stay away from Xenogears itself, then; Xenosaga I might try for. The whole "fighing against our god" is nothing new in Japanese stories. FFX has the crew doing that, so to speak ("Shin" means "God" in Japanese, I do believe; "Shin" was changed to "Sin", for obvious--and somewhat ironic--reasons). Right now in Digimon Frontier, the good guys are going up against the Digital World's god (or one of them). I'm not saying the stories are written the same way, but the storyline doesn't surprise me that much.

Lotus wrapped her few belongings up, and peeked back at the statue. It seemed to stare at her with its stone eyes, ever echoing its same plea: The time is near... Free me, traveler... Find the Aeolian Harp... When the future is in jeopardy... The salvation lies in the past... "I just hope I can find you again after all this, then," Lotus murmured. She hoisted her pack on her back, and patted her nunchakus (simple Flail ones), just to reassure herself that they were still there. Find the Aeolian Harp... The sound of a harp thrumming. Find the Aeolian Harp... The sound of a harp thrumming. Find the Aeolian Harp... "...yeah, yeah, yeah, I got you already," Lotus huffed in a cute girl manner. And fly on the wings of the sun blotters... "What?" Lotus turned back to the cave...but it was gone. She strained her ears for the phantom harp...but it was silent. In a slight panic (reminding her of her first time she performed), she whirled about, frantic to banish the fearful loneliness stealing upon her. A bird called lazily in the scrubby forest that clung desperately to the mountains. The sun flittered down, casting small shadows for even smaller plants. There just wasn't very much cover here. An ear piercing screech made her instantly wish there was. Lotus blinked in panic as the sky seemed to darken. A loud sound of heavy flapping thudded in the air around her, and it didn't take long for Lotus to guess what the animal was. "A sun blotter," she whispered. The creature shrieked again, as if in agreement... ...and attacked.

It was a deceptively peaceful night. Skreetala, the golden green moon of Exocisyt, hung full and heavy among the bare branches of a large oak. Soft lilting notes danced in the night, and quietly fell unnoticed to the ground. Willow wanted it that way. The ageless female pulled her silvery hair over her ears, to hide them from cold (and other things), and tucked her flute away; she didn't want to attract attention to herself. Below her perch, she watched as a group of Lotoewians (or whatever you want to call them) march into the small sleepy town. Armed with the latest in molecular projectiles, they wasted no time in ravaging the village. Willow crouched low, her black clothing blending with the dark limbs of the tree; her face was softly lit by the fires being set everywhere. Gustofes shrilled nervously, and a few broke free of their harnesses. Some of the Lotoewian soldiers fired old fashioned guns into the air, and the trihorned creatures reared backwards on their six legs, pawed the night air with their silver hooves. Exocisyt's Gustofes were animals well known not only for their tameness when it came to being ridden, but also for their delectable flesh and highly prized horns. One young one, a small series of bumps on its head where the horns would soon be, screamed and bolted in terror, trampling a Lotoewian soldier instantly with the dagger edges of its hooves. Another soldier swore, and turned on the beast. Willow gasped softly as a shot echoed in the night. The young Gustofe would not need to worry about its horns now. Exocisytian screams were soon mingling with the Gustofes'. Men yelled hoarsely and tried to snap out of their midnight muddlement as Lotoewian soldiers tied up the weaker ones, and mortally wounded any who fought back. Children were sobbing in hysterical bewilderment, and mothers begged to be left alone. Willow fingered her shurikens, then decided to stay put. There were far too many for her. She'd be dead in an instant. The straw that broke the camel's back, to use an ancient phrase, was the teenage girl incident. Apparentally, this batch of Lotoewians were no better than barbarians, as a pair chased a young girl into the dark woods at the edge of town. Chasing after the trio was what seemed like her father and a young man--probably her boyfriend. One of the Lotoewian soldiers slapped the boy back, and threatened the Exocisytian men with his molecular projectile weapon. The other soldier grabbed the girl by her wrists and grinned nastily. She screamed in horror and her enraged father darted forward; he was instantly curled on the ground, nursing a shoulder wound. The second soldier then lifted his smoking weapon and pointed it at the boy's head, then nodded to his comrade. The teenager screamed again as the soldier holding her reached for her shirt. "That's quite enough!" Willow bellowed as she leapt from her hiding place. The soldier holding the girl looked up at the unexpected visitor, and snarled. Willow moved swiftly, and a shuriken dug deep into his unprotected neck. The other soldier swore in Lotoewian and moved to shoot Willow, only to find that another shuriken had shorted his gun's firing mechanicism. The teenager girl gasped in tearful terror as Willow shoved the dead soldier off of her. The boyfriend embraced her lovingly, and the two propped her father between them. Willow lunged at the other soldier before he could dart away, and grabbed his shoulders. Staring deep into his eyes, she whispered, "Manipulation: sleep." The soldier was now snoozing comfortably. "What now?" the teenage girl asked Willow. "You can't go back to the village," Willow answered. "And we can't stay here--more Lotoewians will find us soon." She slung the sleeping soldier over her back. "Let's go back to my place for awhile, then." "Why are you bringing him?" the boyfriend asked suspiciously. Willow regarded him coolly, then answered, "He could be useful. Now let's go." The small group moved as fast as they could into the shadows of the forest. The father was careful not to make too much noise from his shoulder wound, but quietly murmured about the sudden, unprovoked attack on such a quiet night. Willow sneaked at a peak at the moon, still hanging full and heavy among the bare branches of the trees. It was a deceptively peaceful night, indeed.

*points to her siggy* Just finished another Puck banner. (Bwee hee!) The only thing that really urks me off is how stuff looks different on the web versus the way it looks in the art program. The text looked awesome there, and pixelated here. Blehh. -_- Other than that, feel free to R/R, C/C, whatever/andever. ^^;
