Does anyone believe in love at first sight???
Ellerby replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
Not the same thing at all. Oh and I'll be sixteen next month. I don't see that changing in just 30 days. lol
You never know, some guy might catch your eye in the next month. :P -
Gaming Guitar Hero IV: Rock Band's Future Nemesis
Ellerby replied to Aberinkula's topic in Noosphere
Rock Band, or any of these games, are still fun even if you know how to play the real instruments. My friends love GH and Rock Band and also play Guitar, I've been playing the drums for almost 5 years now and I still love playing drums on Rock Band (because I'm good at it, haha). -
Gaming Guitar Hero IV: Rock Band's Future Nemesis
Ellerby replied to Aberinkula's topic in Noosphere
So basically it's everything Guitar Hero already was, plus Rock Band. For the second time in a row, Neversoft proves they aren't at all creative. Just a bunch of thieves. Apparently buying the Guitar Hero franchise from Harmonix wasn't good enough for them. They also need everything that made Rock Band 10x better than Guitar Hero III. Needless to say I'm still going to buy the game. But I'll be using my Rock Band guitar, mic and drum kit, thanks. And I don't need god damn cymbal pads. I want a frakking hi-hat pad! EDIT: And notice how their drum kit is clearly not collapsable. Fail. -
*pops up in the thread and looks around* Claimed! EDIT: Haha, okay so I did this at my Coop Ed. Placement (which happens to be Graphic Design) so not only did I do this in secret (I was supposed to be doing work...) but I'm also using a different program and system then I normally do at home. The final product is messy but oh well! It was fun, anyway. CHEESE! EDIT: And yes, there is a thick 10 pixel plain white border on the top, bottom and right sides of the piece. Should make the next persons life a lot easier.

Does anyone believe in love at first sight???

No... that was me being shot for being cynical in the thread. :p Because boys = blech.
You like girls?
Kidding!
 Well, you've got to start liking boys sometime. You can't deny the existence of men forever (although some try)! Just wait until you're like 16 or 17. I'm sure you'll have changed your mind about boys by then. So, I've been doing a tiny bit of research. Basically there are two perceptions of Love at First Sight. One is what most of us in this thread believe, which is a romantic connection or at the very most a desire to be with the person and the other is what Knuckles' Girl claims to have happened which is actually falling in love with the person as soon as you meet. I think the main problem we're having here is that Love is almost undefinable. It just seems that Knuckles' Girls personal definition of love is different from ours. And there's nothing that will change that. So I ask you all this, what is your definition of Love? -
So you're writing a story about your late Opa, and his real name is 'Posthumous'? Wow. Irony. Awesome. -Shy
Well not so much writing a story about him. More just using him as a basis and inspiration for the character I've created. But yeah, his real name was Cornelius Posthumous. Post - Humus. Haaah~

Are cigarettes allowed to be smoked anywhere on the ship? Because my character is Dutch (he's actually based on my Opa, same name and everything, who I never got the chance to meet) and I'd like him to be able to-- actually I'll leave that as a surprise. My question stands, though.

Damnit, I wish I had access to the Knowing Me, Knowing You (I think that's what it's called) thread so I could copy my post from there, haha. Alright, I'm Stephen. My major hobbies are art (graphics, cartooning, painting), sports (lacrosse, hockey, paint balling, exercising), music (playing drums for 3+ years now without lessons. Had to learn by ear so I can't read drum music) and literature (I love to read although I haven't read a good book in a while now, and I enjoy writing poems and short stories). Above all of those activities I am a gamer. Got my first home console when I was 4 (a SNES) and played it constantly. Then about a year later my parents bought me a SEGA Genesis which I loved just as much as my SNES. Between the ages of 5 and 16 I've gone through ten consoles (not including the SNES and Genesis) and 5 handheld systems (all Nintendo, the PSP can kiss my arse). I feel like listing them... My Consoles Super Nintendo Entertainment System (love, love, love) SEGA Genesis (also love, love, love) SEGA CD (really lame, I have one game) Nintendo 64 (of course) Virtual Boy (I still have it just for kicks, I own 2 games) Playstation One (not the big chunky one but the small white one) SEGA Dreamcast (Sonic Adventure, Vigilante 8 and PSO make this system awesome) XBOX (meh.) Nintendo Gamecube (the first system I ever sold! Thank you Nintendo for backwards compatibility) Playstation 2 (it's actually my friends but he has a PS3 now and I've been borrowing it for like 2 years) Nintendo Wii (love, love, love) XBOX 360 Elite (I got the elite and it still breaks. Stupid Microsoft doesn't know how to make a damn console) My Handhelds Gameboy (the big grey one) Gameboy Pocket Gameboy Advanced Gameboy SP Nintendo DS And yeah, aside from the SNES, the Genesis and my Virtual Boy I had to pay for all of these. Having an older brother who also enjoys gaming does help, though. Much like the rest of the guys in this thread, I also enjoy the ladies. Being in shape and a gamer/computer geek is like, the ultimate combination. If you have the right games at home, girls totally buy into that. But right now I'm taken! Sorry, ladies. :p I'm also a casual smoker of Mary Jane. But I'm sure none of you care, haha. EDIT: And yes, the person in my avatar is me.

Does anyone believe in love at first sight???

You seriously believe that you fell in love with him the minute you laid eyes on him? Are you sure you didn't just know it was him and then as you got to know each other you fell in love? I mean, for you to say you were in love from the moment you saw each other to me just says that after that nothing changed and that love is nothing special. The love didn't heighten or anything. It's kind of an insult to love. Did you know him even remotely any way before you locked eyes? Maybe online? Or even through a friend? Or was he actually just a complete stranger whose name you didn't even know that you happened to make eye contact with? Sorry if I'm coming off as a bit rude, I'm just very curious. -

Then you ask them they're favorite song and they say "Through the Fire and Flames!" :animesigh Right now I'm listening to, Cry for Eternity.
Dude all Dragonforce songs sound the same. If you've heard TtFaF you've pretty much heard all their songs. lol Right now I'm listening to a lot of Death Cab for Cutie. I Will Possess Your Heart is amazing. I've also been listening to random ska songs for some reason. Catch 22 and Reel Big Fish to name a few.
The article fails to mention that they were having fun also trolling staff by sending pm's with nothing but variations of the word meow in it. In other words, pointless spam really.
But that's just it! A cat can't speak english! Maybe if you spoke cat it wouldn't have seemed as spammy as it was. :whoops: EDIT: My cat:
Despite the fact I'll definitely see this on it's opening weekend, the idea of reviving a series this old isn't something I'm convinced totally by, hopefully it'll be better than Stallone's latest revivals anyway.
I trust it will be amazing simply because it's Spielburg. And the man is a magician with film. I love the fact that since Harrison Ford is now much older, Indiana Jones is as well. You just know that LeBouf's character will be cracking jokes about his age throughout the whole movie. I just wish I didn't work at the theatre on opening day. :(

Cats are obviously prime house pets. Not only are they the kings of the jungles (I once saw 1 Lion fight off 50 Hyenas on the discovery channel, it was awesome) but they're just so damn adorable. What other animal has its own day (Caturday)? Or its own website (lolcats)? And of course, Charles has ensured that OtakuBoards will forever be pro-cats. And don't forget Naps, OBs very own cat member! Dogs are cute too but I just don't like the idea of having to pick up poop everyday for a creature that slobbers and sheds everywhere.

Does anyone believe in love at first sight???
Ellerby replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
Love is a dangerous emotion. It's easy to think you're falling in love with someone and end up heartbroken but at the same time it's possible to believe you'll never be with a certain someone and be completely blind sided by the fact that they feel the same for you. Do I believe in love at first sight? No. I believe in a romantic connection at first sight. That first time you look into each others eyes and you just sense... something. It's not love but it's certainly more then just a staring contest. -
I'm glad all this discussion is taking place! Even if it has little to do with my story it's still in the thread so I still get publicity, haha. :p The next chapter will be up by Friday at the very latest. This weekend was a long weekend for me (Queen Victoria Day) so I was busy almost every day (I'm also seeing someone now, yay!). But I shall have it up soon!

Passenger/Crew Member Name: Sir Cornelius A. Posthumous Age: 72 (Born in 1978, 6 years before the Great Disaster) Identification: Occupation & Background: In his early years, Cornelius was a just simple Dutch sailor who his friends famed for being able to battle the toughest sea storms and survive. What started as a hobby to save himself from having to buy food ended up being his life job as more and more people came to recognize his ability to cross seas un-noticed. He began getting requests to bring shipments of legal cargo to other countries. His service was not only cheaper then your average delivery service, but also quicker and safer. After a while Cornelius became more then just a sailor. He lived on the sea. Giving rides to those who couldn't afford a plane ticket for their entire family to other countries and escorting very important people under the noses of enemies became his life. Soon enough this became too much for just one man and his crew. Cornelius split his crew of 40 all apart, giving them each their own ship and a crew of their own and began running a delivery business. And thus at the age of 33, in 2011, Cornelius Posthumous Shipping (or CPS for short) was founded. The business bloomed and eventually Cornelius was recognized by the Queen of England herself for his exceptional delivery of very important goods (some say he even treated her Majesty to a night on the sea) and was dubbed Sir Cornelius A. Posthumous. Nowadays Cornelius' company does more then just delivery across seas. They make and sell the finest ships in Europe and are also looking into designing and creating ships for the Dutch and British military. But Cornelius has little to do with this now. He was able to retire at the ripe age of 54 and spend the rest of his life how he pleased. Being the proud sailor he is, when Cornelius heard the Von Braun would be launching he had to be on the first ship to leave the Earths atmosphere even if he was just a passenger. He'll be sitting comfortably in first class.

Let's keep this spam-free, shall we? @ 8bit: Um, nothing much to say? Ha, sharpen it up a bit, it's a little too blurry. And that guy in the picture looks funny, tbh. haha ;D!
Just because there is no banner doesn't mean you can't say anything about the signature. :( And that guy in the picture is me, bahaha. It was taken at a Jays (Toronto Blue Jays) game I went to last summer with a bunch of people from work. Aside from the text, the picture is unedited so I didn't really want to muck it up or anything. So, unlike SPX I actually like the vibrant light colours coming out of the guy in your banner. The ones on the left side of him almost seem like they should be going the opposite direction of the ones of the right but it's no biggy. It kind of gives a concert feel to the banner (all those lighting special effects you get at concerts) which is neat. I don't like that gradient block, though. It's distracting, hah.
someone rate me zomg
Boo - Why, Lunox?

I refuse to believe that was Lunox. lol
-
Also, the black border for the banner is distracting in that it seems a tiny bit awkward when put together with the avatar.
At least hers match, lol. I like your banner, the green flows nicely into the red and it matches the characters well. There's a lot of empty space, though. I think you could have that same good banner but a lot smaller and it would seem a bit more artsy perhaps. I love your avatar. Just the angle of the picture is great and I'm a big fan of 1px black borders around 1px white borders. I also like how the text at the top of your signature matches the girls hair. :p

Apologize to her, make up with her, bring her out to a ritzy restaurant and pay for the whole thing, bring her back home, sleep with her, send her home in the morning and tell her to call you, don't answer the phone calls and deny anything ever happened. That would be the simple solution anyway.

I think claim +1 or +2 is a great idea and I fully support it! ...that's all I have to say, lol. EDIT: And Lucy, The Beatles are awesome.
-
I'll grab the one after boothten. ;]
v_v I thought the whole point of the claim system was to avoid this. I was going to claim the spot after boothten but I waited because his piece wasn't up yet. That was what we all agreed on was it not? :animesigh

All of these ideas are great. Some of the smaller ones (like Rate my Signature) could even be launched immediately since they don't take much organization to start. I don't think a sub forum for Art Contests is necessary, though. What we could do is have one "official" Art Contest going at a time and, similar to the Community Events forum, we could have a "Current Art Contest:" type thing in the description of the Art Studio.
-
What if we encouraged artists posting their own artwork by having a "Otaku Art Member of the Week/Month"? That would be neat. :D
-
If you guys want to start some sort of contest or something then by all means, go for it. You don't need to ask permission, haha. Of course if you're looking to create something big then the person to talk to would be Boo. I'm positive he'd be more then happy to help with anything that will bring more members to the Art Studio. And I'd be willing to help as well. :D

I completely agree, the game looks outstanding. I watched a demo on YouTube where Will Wright brought in Robin Williams to try out the creature phase and make his own guy and everything and the sheer amount of possibilities when making a creature was mind blowing. And Robin was hilarious, of course. I really love the direction they went with the modeling. You get a piece of clay basically and mold it any way you want, add arms, legs and facial features and you've got a basic creature. This is the first game where I'll be able to draw what I want my guy to look like before I even open the game and will actually be able to make it. Spore is going to be big.
