I just looked at Events and I realized - I have been here (off and on) for six years. I remember being a total newbie and being banned a few times, having The Harlequin get mad at me for being such a horrible writer, and meeting my best friends (Korey and Jacob). I also remember going through an awkward phase of writing nothing but what must've been porn.

For those of you who have been here a while - and those who haven't - what are some of your favorite or least favorite memories of the fabulous OB? What made you stay?

The thread in the Info Kiosk about the bots. "No, thats something a bot would say." Me and Drizzt carried that over into my thread, OB Games, Vote For What You Want. He calls me a bot becase my screen name is Botar, even though it's pronounced Bo-tar. Drizzt is hilarious!

Next month I will have been here FIVE YEARS.

Okay, granted, I didn't post for a couple of them, but I was still lurking. And I'm proud to say I only ever had one warning on my post, and that's because I posted in the wrong forum. Hoyes.

My best memory is probably modding the Arena. I still love that place, and it saddened me to see it lose quality, which is part of the reason why I left. There were some early role-plays which were such good, innocent fun. They're how I met my lovely boyfriend, Trevor (Unborn Lord Xion, any arena babies remember him?).

The Survivor series was awesome, too. And Labyrinth was a great event.

Also, MAMAs intense outing to the forums. IT WAS LIKE A WALK OF SHAME, hur.

I feel old ):
I remember being a total newbie and having The Harlequin get mad at me for being such a horrible writer.
I remember that too, but I think he got mad at everyone. So yeah.

Been here for seven (7) years myself as off next... Thursday I think, so it's funny how this thread arrives around this time. That has been seven (7) years of... well, apart from not ever visiting in the beginning (I could not remember the URL, because Otaku is a weird word), pretty much continuously being here. It is not so difficult if you realise that "Ota" are mostly the first letters I type in my bar when I'm in a browser. Especially when I am bored.

So, favourite moments!

During two major version switch downtimes of OtakuBoards, I made forums. The first one was an a bit standard forum, but still had a few visitors from here. The other one was more fun and spawned this thread: What is this Clone?, which I thought was quite epic. :whoops:

Of course The Complaint speaks for itself if you read it through. Well, the first post says enough.

Also, The Otaku Lounge Description was actually a bunch o' good fun and people actually felt the need to change it too. For whatever reason, because Desbreko said it well enough:
Wait a minute... You're saying people actually read the forum descriptions?
Aside from things like that there have always been neat things in the Art Studio, there has been one RP I've ever seen the end of, like said "OB drama", the Otaku Idol 2 drama (/Sandy in general) and so much more!

OtakuBoards is a good place! *tear*

Well I'm going on six years in April, though I have a pretty heafty Hiatas there for awhile, and I've noticed a change in the theatre (obviously). I don't think it's neccasarily the quality, I think it's more so the influx of new members we see that come and go.

I also think that back when it was the arena, it was a central focus. Now more people spend time on the lounge then anywhere else, not that it's a bad thing more of a sad thing.
Well of course I love all of you guys, even if (very rarely) some of you aggrivate me.:catgirl:
That's nice and possibly the truest statement about OB. For those of us that are "regulars", though that term can be used loosley, we've all been at each other's throats once or twice. But like a crazy.....odd family we kiss (metaphorically of course, but there's always one that's literal) and make up.

Oh and don't believe a word out of Bot-ar's mouth...or computer may be the better way to put it. He's spreading his botty unrest to yet another thread :faint:

Do you remember the Sexy Six, Jamie? :p I miss old times.

And yes, I remember Trevor. How's he been doing, anyway? Neither of you talk to me anymore. *shakes fist threateningly*

Drix D'Zanth (I still thank you for joining my first ever RPG.)

Those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

Personally, I found Gavin's (DW) Bachelor threads greatly amusing.

Anyone else remember the 'My Neighbor Totoro' spread? That was forever ago.

Drizzt, It seems to me that you're trying to cover something up. I think You're the bot! You're just trying to pin it on me! Everyone will find out that you're the bot, just you wait and see.

Also, to stay relevent to the thread, Ace's post in the Naruto thread, he posted a Naruto, The Abriged Series 23 vid, it was greatly funny.

Drizzt, could a bot do this?:hippy: I think not!

I will have been here a year this coming September. I can honestly say I can't believe how time flies, and how much life changes in such a short time. Though, thinking about it, six years is a helluvah long time. I remember how horrid my writing was. I remember those amazing OB chat room sessions, which I miss terribly. The good ol' days with a tight knit circle of friends; the days that have long passed into shadows...sadly. All the people/friends that have come and disappeared as their real lives took over.

I've had too many fond memories to recall on, but just to name a few:

1.) Bikini Bandits 1&2. I know, my own creation. But really, that was such a big part of my time here; I really wish I could've fought through my issues that forced me to stop writing. Because honestly, once I stopped with that story...I sort of died here on the OB. And now that I have been so distant from the OB for so long, I couldn't start it back up again...partially because I don't think many of the characters visit the OB anymore.

But besides all that...who doesn't love sexy girlies in bikinis??

2.) Black Horizon. This incredible RPG was my turning point in writing. And if I can remember, it's the first RPG I've been in that had stayed true and strong, and COMPLETED...unfortunately, I couldn't complete it with my friends because I left for military training. But I was pleased to see it completed once I was able to return to the OB. My writing was never better, I think...especially in one specific post, in which I actually scared the piss out of myself while writing.

3.) 55 Fiction. This thread was super fun to do! It was challenging, and a great idea. To come up with a story that moved you with just 55 words...super fun!

4.) Speaking of all the people I incorporated in my Bandits and the people I wrote RPGs with....all the oldie friends who are many:

Corey- Man I miss that guy...Without his creativity and imagination, Black Horizon wouldn't have ever been. Not only was he an awesome writer, he was a greater friend. He was my Knight...

You can't have Corey and Annie without Gavin, the Original Irishman. Fortunately, I still get to talk to Gavin. He's fantastic! My dear brother :3 And a former body guard. Incredible person to RPG with, and to just talk to. Very charming and suave...but don't tell him I told you ^_~

Metatron/Kwai- Probably the most complicated person on the OB I have EVER met. And the most intense writer, incredibly intelligent, and very reclusive. He no longer visits the OB, I know, but he and I had a strange relationship. I loathed him when we first started writing together, but we started to understand each other after a while. He's got a chilling disposition and very unforgiving at times..most times, lol. If there is anyone on the OB who deserves my respect, it would be him. He, not directly, inspired me and pushed me to do better. I strived to be as good as he was. He drove me insane, but I loved him dearly.

Arcadia- Such an amazing lady! I luff her :3 When I first arrived, she and terra were mods of the Arena; and she helped direct me toward a more productive and improved style/form of writing. Without her patience and guidance, I would've been a n00b forever. I can't remember how many times I PMed her for help, lol. I'm surprised she didn't have me banned, haha

Mimmi!- Mimms is a unique and perfect lady. I clinged to her so much, lol. So sweet and kind and incredibly fun to talk to. Playing Literati....ah, that was the greatest. Making naughty words up....in an innocent way, of course!

ULX/Onix- Ah, the dark and mysterious Trevor. We had some interesting, and morbid, conversations and plots. Very interesting person to have written in an RPG with.

Ezekiel- Trevor's better, and more gorgeous, half. Otherwise known as, Jamie. Such a great person; intelligent, witty, elegant, and talented.

Shinmaru- Oh that Shin! We've had MANY laughs....on his account, haha. Seriously, what an awesome guy. Never a dull moment in the chat rooms when he arrived. A fun writer, and great to boot. Just...don't mention APB to him. He gets a bit squeamish. ^_~

Syk3- And you can't have the 3 stooges of Shin, Annie, and Syk3 without this modern day cowboy. Syk3 introduced me to Cowboy Bebop, HORNY, and actually...yes, he actually brought me into the light of the OB chat room sessions. I remember getting an invite from him, and thinking "Wow, he knows who I am and thinks that much of me to invite little ol' me into a chat! *fan girl*" Haha! Though later in the chats, I realized that he invited me to torment me, lol...which made me swoon anyway. He had FABULOUS hair. He was the anacronym king...which spawned the APB chat. We thrived off of that to torment Shinmaru....if that were possible, since Shin is a pretty lax dude. But it did gross him out a bit.

Drix D'Zanth- Jordan, oh Jordan. What can I say? I had the biggest crush on him for a while. Charming, fun, hilarious, and really helped me with my confidence in writing. He always supported me and gave me the boost I needed to write whenever I didn't feel good enough.

Siren/Brasil/Papa Smurf/aka Alex- I can't seem to find his profile, but that's probably because he's been banned quite a few times. As cruel and brutally honest as he was, he was a great guy to get to know. I still get to talk to him randomly online or text messages, but not so much these days. He drove me BONKERS, constantly arguing with me and trying to prove how wrong I was all the time....ugh, yeah. We all know, lol. But he was still fun, and the first OBer I've met in person. Great guy.

James- I am completely in love with this man, haha. I say that in the friendliest way. I remember being so scared to even say "hello" to him via PM, let alone did I ever think we would talk frequently over AIM. I wouldn't say I was afraid or scared, actually..more like intimidated. But, his friendship is probably the coolest ever. Our common taste in Marilyn Manson, his smooth accent, the AIM convos where his microphone thing made "blooping" noises which made me laugh insanely, his cane and top hat.....I could go on forever. I have valued, and always will, his friendship pretty much more than any one else's.

Desbreko- Debs! Incredibly fun person to chat with, and play GW with. The man with the plan, the man who has all the answers (at least when it comes to games and computer stuffs), the living Link himself. I'm super happy I got to know him :)

And last, but not least...silpheedpilot, the love of my life. Without this man, I would be lost. He saved me from a crippling depression. He is the only person in this world that means more to me than ANYTHING. He and I have been through so much; a lot of pain, a lot of fun times, a lot of serious issues....there's nothing I can't talk to him about. I believe him to be my soul mate. We cannot be together physically as soul mates, but as best friends. Our relationship is unmatched and will never be matched. I just can't say enough...he knows how I feel about him.

WHEW, that's a lot of writing, and I KNOW I've left a few people out. Shy, Queen Asuka, Dragon Warrior, Raiha, Karma of Chaos, Charles, Kitty, Steph, Chaos, Boo, Baron Samedi, deadseraphim (Alan), Retribution....all incredible and talented people.

I've been here for 7 years, though I guess I took the last yer off lol. I've been banned upwards of 5 times I think, and otherwise just chased out, haha. Those were 'the days' lol. Had many good times here with Premonition and all the people who were extremely kind to me in 2007 (Rachmaninoff, Indifference, SunfallE etc.). I remember way back when Dragon_Warrior was still pumping out stuff every other day and I wanted to be just like him... ah good stuff. There's been awkward times as well among others. OB saw me go through my whole early teen years and all the hormonal crap that came along with that, hahaha.

The most fun I've ever had on OB had to be doing The Panopticoon, though. All my favorite OB members were there and I still consider the whole thing my most awesome project to date. It was huge, after all.

Now that i'm no longer a "New member" I can reminisce on my last 6 days here.

Well thats it!

Joking aside, Drizzt, Ace, Magus, Desbreko, Shy, Gavin, Kei, and the rest of you have looked past my old new member tag and have treated me like a regular, and I thank you.
I remember that too, but I think he got mad at everyone. So yeah.
He's a psychologist now. HA! Still yells at me though, from time to time... I bring out the unrational in those trained in rationality! Haha!

This will be my seventh year, and I look back fondly on the days when I was an active participant, rather than the crazy old lady in the rocking chair on the front porch as I am now. I miss piromunkie. And another guy who's name eludes me now. And the porn, ah, the porn. There was so much it, I didn't realise how much until I grew up and went back and looked at it and felt vaguely uncomfortable.

Other fun memories include sneaking into the moderator's lounge and unearthing a thread about how I annoyed the crap out of some moderators. (That only stopped hurting a couple of months ago, by the way. *sniff*) RPGs were great fun when I had the time, I wish I still did. Kicking cloricus out of everything was... maybe not so fun. Banner art and emo poetry. People knowing who you were and talking to you, knowing who people are and talking to them. That's something I probably won't get back. MY FAN CLUB. There's something else I miss.

Holy crap I've been on here forever it seems like, since I found the OB chat room when is was still here. That was a long time ago. So about 5 maybe 6 years now, the thing that keeps me coming back, sheer boredom and the want for something interesting. That and I've made alot of friends on here. Dritz, Sazabi, The Enemy to name a few. It just fun to have something to do.

Seven years in two months.

Most of the old people I used to RPG with, mainly newbies at the time, have all gone =(. Except Steph I think... and I'm talking way back in the days when I didn't have to even have an audition thread, let alone a well-thought out game.

I remember being constantly yelled at by Mitch because I didn't know what double posting was. I don't even remember double posting, haha. I made friends with Boo in the Anthology not too long after that and gots his MSN, so BOO WAS MY FIRST FRIEND. On OB.

I also remember the Battle Arena and all the fun times I had there. I feel slightly left out because I'm never really involved in much OB drama... never really get into many heated debates or cause trouble... I might start some.

I do miss the golden days of RPGing, pretty much when people were flushing out all these epic ideas everywhere. It just seems so slow these past few years, to be honest. And back in the day when people actually talked to me on AIM ¬_¬. Now I'm stuck with about three people who talk to me once a fortnight on there =p.

I don't really see myself as an old member....but...
My first few days here involved me being a complete brat (which many of you mods remember). My first partner in crime was chibi-master! Hmm.....many of my memories include the plenty of debates I've participated in and one that stands out the most is my first RP. I think it did pretty good for my first! The second friend I made was Drizzt (who's still awesome).
Hopefully most you guys know that I was gone for a while...but I came back. I guess what keeps me here is the many interesting RPs and the many threads in the Lounge. :catgirl:

Although I don't consider myself old by any means, I've racked up some rather interesting moments in my tenure on OB. Highlight's include:

Meeting Stephanie: Possibly my best of all friends and my confidante, she is one classy lady. Although I'm pretty sure I've explained how we've met, it was through a misunderstanding on an old Arena thread. We exchanged PMs and then eventually got to be good friends. Sincerely is a pleasure, miss.

Arguments with Mitch: Quite possibly the most pseudo of pseudo-intellectuals, Mitch often aggravated me to no end with his incessant need to post long-winded soliloquies that ultimately ended up in his demise on OB. Soliloquies only in the fact that people stopped reading them after a while. But it was rather fun to try and dissect his posts when he was too busy trying to refute points that didn't even need refuting. A prime example of thinking just a little too hard.

Becoming a Mod: Although I'm newer on the Mod list, it was certainly exciting to see that PM from Desbreko in my inbox. Now I don't think I could imagine OB without all my cool little mod powers.

Kaimaster: Remember this little bugger? He made me lol near to death when he thought that Obama being elected signaled the end of days for all of Christianity. Fun times, for sure.

Raiha: I can almost set my watch to when she IM's me on AIM. It's become a daily ritual to speak to her at some point.

Crimson Spider: This is another example of pseudo-intellectuals who can't let bygones be bygones. Crim made it a point to try and dissect points of others posts and try to prove his points ultimately superior. Any member who wanted to question his logic or dared find his reasoning to be untrue was met with a long post that often times didn't end up too well for either side. Caused a lot of arguments and didn't really do anything to help himself by continuing his line of behavior. Although I must admit, his posts were certainly a sight to see.

Pretty much the same for me. Being asked to be a mod was quite a shock and honor as well. If ever presented the opportunity again, I'd accept too. Some of the stuff I saw about the staff was pretty wacky, so yeah... :) If you're wondering why it's so slow in the Arcade, it's because I scared everyone out of there.

Reading Little Deaths is fun.

Sharing crackpot theories with Gavin, Solo, and Raiyuu is pretty interesting yet entertaining at the same time. No ones been fangasming over this and that, so it's pretty easy to share theories with them. Ace is in a world of his own with his um, Naruto summaries.

Otakupedia. I don't read it as much as I should, but everytime I did take a look, one name stood out. Altron Gundam. I know him as Sanosuke. Recca... I forgot those numbers in his s/n. I met him at another forum where err...
I use to play a little card game called yugioh... "coughs" (I was a bored soul back in 2002-2003.. shutup XD)
I didn't have much of an issue with him, however, as I read some of this stuff here and compare it to some of his stuff at the other place, that's definately him LOL. The giant ego, haha. I can't remembe the names that had an out with him, but I can only imagine what you went through.

I will have been here eight years come August 2009. I think that is a very scary thought.

When this place closed down for a very long time for a new version, I ended up forgetting about it until rediscovering this place again in 2003. I remember making fourteen posts back when I first joined. When I came back, I deleted those out of embarrassment.

I have moments were I post a lot and then I go a long time with not really posting anything. I do however stalk the forums every other day.

Good Memories~

Teh Silly Circus Chat - Insane chat I know but it was tons of fun! It also lasted a week to boot. I loved my AIM chats.

Syk3, Shin, Charles, Shy, Desbreko: Really good friends that I will forever keep in my heart. We've been through a lot over the years and I would not trade my memories with these guys for anything.

.hack//SIGN forum - I remember Shy posting an episode synopsis every week for each episode of .hack//SIGN as it was being shown and each thread would be flooded with posts. I liked how everyone seemed to be in a tighter knit back then in the anime forum. I hope to gain more memories with the new Full Metal Alchemist forum as well as the same kind of atmosphere.

Bad Memories~

There have been some bad memories here, but you know what? Past is past. Forget the bad things and remember the good.

Why do I keep coming back here? Out of habit most likely.
