Today I found out that my Chemistry class is full of bronies. The teacher was explaining that we had no homework. Then she added, "Now remember, that's a rarity!" Then, this huge guy screams out, "WRONG! She's a unicorn!" Everyone turns around to stare at him before exploding into who their favorite pony is. I think only about 5 or 6 people had no idea what we were talking about. I feel really bad for our teacher, since she had a hard time calming us all down... All thanks to word choice.

Also, I really wish I had taken A.P. U.S. History instead of the regular class. Obviously, everyone in the class is a junior. With that in mind, while we were talking about unrest in the colonies, some girl asks, "What's a protest?" I thought she was joking. NOPE. This girl had no clue what a protest was. Or what "unrest" meant.
The textbooks have impossibly short and uninformative chapters as well. I eventually coerced an A.P. teacher into letting me use his textbook so that I could actually learn something. I'm checking to see if I can transfer into his class during the same period.

Wow, this girl sounds almost Palinesque in her ignorance. What year of school are we talking about here? And where are her parents? I'd like to personally flog them.

She is in her 3rd year of high school. 11th grade. Today she asked what a rebellion was. The worst part? Everyone in the class started agreeing that they didn't know either. I think I'm going to need some help to make it through the year.

So I live in a household with no dogs.
I walk into the kitchen after not being home all day (and basically all week), and I find a dog in there.

Needless to say, I was very shocked about seeing a dog/puppy in the kitchen when I was expecting none. But it is a very cute dog! Short and black, and very fat. And its fur is very soft. *_* and the dog freaking follows me everywhere ._.

And I think I may have a death wish. I spend all of my time volunteering with the kittens at the Humane Society, although I am allergic to them. And doing so makes me really sick in the end. :[

Ladies and Gentlemen,

If you notice the OP by Shy, you'll find something interesting. I have lifted the Ban on LOLCat pictures (I'm sure people have posted them in the past without it being an issue). Tired as the meme is, you're now free to share all your still photographies featuring feline creatures engaging in humorous banter across the electronic networking system.

Edit: In other news that uses words, Abby was so distraught at the family's absence yesterday (the whole day) that she spent a half hour milling about the house last night, demanding to be held by everyone, giving nuzzles, and immediately fleeing to the next person.

She is now snuggled up on my leg because I'm the only person currently in the house and she's afraid I'll leave. Edited by Allamorph

Wow, that's crazy. Maybe you should be teaching the class! ^_^

The funny thing is, I know that schools are supposed to impart all this information, but I wonder how these sorts of topics don't come up in people's homes. I mean, if you have the news on TV even and they talk about rebellion... don't kids ask their parents what it means?

Maybe the parents don't know either!

It's just weird, because as much as knowledge is picked up at school, I think a lot of stuff is learned at home too. Poor kids.

From what I've gathered so far, all they watch is MTV or something of the sort. No news stations. No newspapers. No books. They don't care.
I guess I have no room to talk though. I hate politics, but for the last year I've been doing more research into it. After all, I'm going to need to be well-read if I plan on voting in the presidential election next year (I'll be just old enough to do so!).

I hate going dress-shopping with my friends. It feels so awkward. How do I gently let someone know that their "dream dress" looks like it has only enough fabric to be a washcloth. Or that the amount of sequins makes them look like a walking disco-ball.
And just how do I bring about the topic of their shoes, which look like the ones Santa's elves wear? UGH! Friends tell friends all these things! But I don't want to hurt their feelings! At the same time, I don't want them to waste their money on something that will make them look like a circus clown!
